The glazedware you're showing after the pictures of the greenware aren't the respective pieces, right? I noticed that the knobs were obviously different sizes. I was wondering what cone you're firing your bisque and glazed ware to, and whether or not you're letting your porcelain slump in the firing a little. I was curious just because the lids in the two greenware pieces have a distinct upward slant, whereas both glazed pieces have a soft downward curve.
@bkyamanaka, Yeah, the pots in the images are not respective, they are all examples of finished glazeware to show variety. I fire bisque to ^08 and glaze to a cool ^11, the porcelain I use does like to move quite a bit in the kiln and ends up changing the form a bit, usually for the better, but not so much to change the form as you mentioned in your comment. Thanks for the comment! ~Adam
Thanks. Yeah, leather hard, if you try to carve much before it is hard to get a good smooth line, and if the clay is too dry it will dull the carving tool pretty quickly.
when i saw it at the end of the carving process in the raw i was amazed at the workmanship, when i saw the finished product with glaze i about shot pepsi out my nose... that piece is beyond Beautiful!!!! will you be my sensei?!?!? : )

shelsel0115 2 years ago
@shelsel0115 Kemper mini-ribbon tool (triangular, stock # MR5 & MR6), but more recently been using a handmade traditional Korean carving tool.
