  • I spent all day trying to get up with no success, then watched this video and got up first time and every time after that. Thanks a bunch

  • a very good video... the steps were perfectly explained... kudos to you... :)

  • anny 1 else do it differently?

  • @qwerty16529 yeah i do what you call a Pro Start, this is when you have the board under you in the water and you just angle it up so it just pops out of the water, this start looks cooler and is more stylish i guess

    Anymore Questions? Please Ask!

  • Can a jetski tow?

  • @TheProceeded Only if you're not too heavy!

  • i have those same shoes lol

  • Thanks a lot for this tutorial! I tried for the first time this weekend to get up on a wakeboard. After being unsuccessful the first few times, I saw this video, gave it another shot and getting up was far easier!

  • i cept letting go of the handle this should help

  • thanks a bunch dude! i watched some other video on how to get up last week and couldnt so went home and watched this vid and got up second try today! and let me say this I LOVE WAKEBOARDING!

  • Thx so much I tried so many times to get up but I couldn't I watched this video I got up immediately

  • how fast should the boat be going

  • This is a really good video. After getting up a few weeks ago, this is exactly what my experience has shown me. I went too fast when standing up and always got pulled facesfirst into the water.

  • what i do is let the boat pull to one side of the wake and pivot while getting up

  • i've been trying to get up for about a month now and i've watched COUNTLESS youtube videos and tried every technique. Finally found this one, did exactly what you said, and i got up! Thanks alot, you're obviously the only person who knows how to teach people how to wakeboard :)

  • whe are gonna buy a wakeboard tomorrow so this is really gonna help me out

  • @expertvillage i was wondering when you start going and you keep the board sideways how fast is the boat going to let you up slowly?

  • I tried wakeboarding for the first time weekend before last. Could not get up. After 15+ tries, I called it a day. Went home and watched this video and immediately knew what I was doing wrong. He explained it perfectly. Second attempt on the water I popped right up and stayed up. Great video. Gives a good explanation of the do's and don'ts.

  • I saw the dog and i immediately knew how to stand up.

  • This video helps you so much! I could get up 3 years ago and then i stopped and had to relearn. I couldnt get up forever and i got so upset, i got on my phone and watched this video and i got up the very next try. The thing that helped me most was letting the boat pull me up, not me pulling myself up... try it

  • just a bit of advice it helps wen u ski first cuz u get the idea of how it feels to be pulled across water. and then wen u wakeboard it helps for some reason i ant explain just do it lol

  • @AppleSauceSk8er i water ski on slalom and it helps a ton

  • Can the boat be going around 50 to wakeboad

  • @pimpdaddy97ful That's way too fast, 22-25mph is a good speed.

  • what about when you have the extra fin cause i do, can u still ride with the bored side ways

  • @cj1cms7 thats what i was wondering

  • I have short arms and long legs its a family thing

  • always helpful! check out the cable wakeboard vid on my channel

  • how fast should the boat be going???

  • did excactly what this dude said and got up first try. I wasn't able to sit on the board as long as I wanted to though, if I didn't turn in and stand up I would lose the rope. But a very good explanation non the less.

  • if you have center fins wont they catch the water and make you face plant?

  • @MTW96709764 same here man

  • @IronBroseph sweet

  • The way my driver always got me out of the water was he just popped me out. Idling then real fast. Make sure there is little slack on the rope. If the rope keeps popping out of your hands and your hands hit the top of the wakeboard while trying to get up, simply raise the handle while trying to get up so if it does pop out, your hands won't hit the board

  • This works even if you have fins. The driver needs to start off slowly, if they go to fast, you will usually have the handle pop out of your hand. The boat pulls you up, don't try to pull yourself up.

  • how fast should the boat take off?

  • fins make it easier for beginners and put 75% of ur weight on ur back foot. also the driver needs to know how to pull u or itl b hard.

  • Thanks got up first time

  • If my wakeboard has Finns will this technice still work

  • @MTW96709764 me too hahaha

  • @walde4 haha on the fourth i went to my cousins and i finally got up my second try for that day. and when i got up i rode around for like 5mins and was so soar i couldnt hold on, wake boarding takes to much energy

  • does it matter if you have fins

  • this doesn't friggn help!!! :0

  • i can stand up but i cant stay balanced when i stand up and turn to put the rope by my hip!!!!!! can someone please help me?????

  • Thank you, this was very helpful. Now i know not to stand up too fast

  • @danbeckett96 this was exactly my problem too

  • I have a question for any intermediate+ experienced wakeboarder, i do not have a tower but i have a ski pull, can i use the ski pull for this?? Question about my boat, yes it is fast enough and i know it is not all about speed when you are up...... please answer.

  • 1:19

    dog

  • i tried getting up a different way, and i failed.

but then, i saw this video and did it this way and, I GOT UP!!!

thanks so much 4 this video!!

  • tried yesterday without success and today i tried this, and... SUCCESS !

  • i am wanting to get into wakeboarding what is the best type of a wakeboard to get

  • @jrroper1996 just get a basic one. go to a shop meant for wakeboarding and tell them you are a beginner and they will get you one.

  • Thanks! :D

  • and it all depends on what kinda boat and what kinda engine you have in your boat bigger engines means it will pull you harder and you will have to do it faster smaller engine you will have to wait like he said

  • lol at 1:17 there is dog

  • you sir...have an AMAZING body and thanks for the wakeboard tips very helpfull =)

  • on this boat there seems to be a tower..what about boats without towers..the boat i use does NOT have a tower and it makes it a lot harder..the board always goes under water..and i get up off the dock,at cable all the time..

  • I find most people don't tuck enough when they start and after one fail you tell them to tuck right in and they seem to get up easy

  • yeaa i have the same shoes at (0.02)

  • dose it help to be in shape to wakeboard? im way out of shape,

  • Thannnnk youuuuu

  • great explination man going on the water this weekend needed to be reminded about the basics.... cool man :)

  • Great video my brother and i watched this and got up first try after being drug under for two weekends in arow t

  • someone help me. my wakeboard has little fins on the board one on front and one on back both in the middle of the board... would it be easier to leave them on when learning to get up or take them off?

  • @paynelikestoskate LEAVE THEM ON,, helps grip in the water and acts as a channel to keep your board straight when your edging and stuff

  • do u have to go fast to get up on a wakeboard like with a water ski?

  • Thanks for the advice

  • hmmm my way is way different....I get up like I'm slalom skiing, bottom of the board facing the boat, tip up knees closr to the chest and yell HIT IT BABY!!!!!!!!!

  • thanks i definitely get it now b4 i was just pulling on the handle and it slipped

  • cool ty

  • Wow, you take way to mush time when you are planing! what i do is just when the boat starts pulling you, pull back on the rope, and lean back and as soon as you feel pressure lean back and turn the board, you should try it, and tell me which one works better!

  • I need help!! When i try to get up i end up on my face being dragged by the boat... can anyone tell me what i am doin wrong. dont understand why i am falling face first when im leaning further back than i do when i ski

  • @bloomey1 i think its coz as soon as ur getting up, ur toes point downward(point upward before) and so it stops the water flowing via ur board and ur start falling to ur front side. try put more pressure on ur heels when ur getting up

  • wtf is with the text i cant see anything!!!

  • What speed should the boat be going for an ideal wake board?

  • 3 of us took the boat out with nobody on the boat knowing how to wakeboard. just like that we all got up after watching this.

no need for really any exertion except gripping like hell.

20% of it is the driver btw. if you're plowing ur not accelerating fast enough.

  • whenever i did this i tried to get on top but i kept falling back or foward what do i do answer quickly

  • but do u have to do the same if you don't have a tower ???

  • Is it easier to get up with a tower?

  • I love this technique!!

I was trying for a week to get up on a wakeoard and after watching this video i got up on the third try! i highly recommend this technique to anyone who wants to get up!

Now i just need to stay up......

  • PUSH THE BOARD UNDER WATER!!!!! dont try and get it to the top of the water

  • These instructions are just plain wrong. I followed them word to word and I just kept plowing the water.

  • @humangreatness same

  • I Tried to get up several times the day before i watched this vid and after i got up first time and many more. Thanks.

  • i tryed exactly this and it keeps pullin me over the front or popping the the handel out im not fighting it or trying to stand up early could someone help me my boat dosent have a wakeboard tower could that be it

  • @zachman54sack I don't have a tower either and I'm quite new to waking but sitting/crouching together like you're hugging around your knees exactly like he does really does the trick tbh. What he says about digging in your heels and keeping your toes in is all that matters. Maybe your partner is giving too much speed. We usually just straight the line, get some tension (this is where I'm fully crouched on the board but still in the water) in the line and then start quite slow.

  • @zachman54sack i have a boat and it doesnt have the tower all i do is... as the boat idles you can hear it rev when it takes off turn the board right away so it pops you up over the water and than have fun

  • @yamattr i do the same thing when i get pulled by jetski.

  • @zachman54sack You just need to start slower, make sure whoever is driving isnt just gunning it.

  • @DrPepperKid14 that might help some people but i found it a ton easier to get up when the boat accelerated faster, it just kinda popped me on top of the water.

  • @brandorf94 I think its easier for beginners to start slower, and work up to the boat gunning it, because that is much easier, but to get the motions down, going slow seems to help.

  • great video!!! got up my first time using this technique!!

  • i whent wakeboarding today and everytime i tryed to get up i poped the handel every time. i just plow water for like 2 sec then fall... i cant even make a fist now... this is really fustrating someone please help im not trying to fight the boat.

  • This helps a lot. I just tries my first time wakeboarding today and I got up on like my 5th try lol. But the way I did it, was by slanting the board forward then just getting on top. This helps me more though thx.

  • I just tried wakeboarding today and got up first try! This is one of a few videos I watched to figure out how to get up and it really helped. Basically once you're getting pulled by the boat just stand up and turn the board. Worked perfect for me.

  • awesome this helped me so much i thought i had to stand up right away but knowing that i can take my time getting up helped me out alot!

  • I helped my friends get up wakeboarding last year (about 5 of them). They couldn't get up for anything. After simply saying 'flex your abs and get your chest out of the water as best you can', they all got up.

I don't know if this will help any of you, I just thought I would say what worked for my friends.

  • Actually, I meant to say keep your neck out of the water and make sure you can see the boat (or jetski). Don't just relax your body, you must flex your abs or it will be very hard to get up.

  • @HOGRampage yo ur the best it worked ur great man thanks subed

  • how fast do you have to go?

  • I spent like 4 hours today trying to get up on my Board but it just seemed like i was getting drug thru the water and i was creating a plow effect. and i just didn't have the strength to hold on.I just have one question should i take the fins off my board ? ill still have small fins on the toe side and heel side front and back just not the 2 big center fins .I'm thinking now maybe its because of the fins why I'm having so much trouble any advice would be greatly appreciated

  • @Seaworthy1973 I am having the same problem gallons of water pouring over the top it's like fighting the entire lake. How did you correct this?

  • this is a great video. Yesterday I tried to get up 5 or 6 times and never could and became very frustrated. Watched this video and was able to get up my first time and haven't gone and not gotten up yet. AWESOME JOB

  • I tried this teqnuqie and i got up the very first time. thanks alot

  • i just kinda started last year but not so good lol. i kept getting sucked under cause we all had no clue how to get on that shit. but your tips sound pretty good. so hopefully i wont swallow too much shit water this year. haha love love dudes!

    Dan<33

  • I learned to get up a different way.

  • Thanks for the heads up! I'm going to try this out tomorrow. Cheers!

  • Today was the first time that i really got into like water sports

i always used to biscuit and dougnut and stuff but i tried knee boarding and wake boarding today i got the hang of knee boarding straight away but i couldnt get up on the wake board hence why im watching this video

  • Hell yeah dude Knee Boarding's fun I'm about to go Wake for my first time. Knee Boarding is sick when you can jump wakes and shit

  • Is it hard to keep your head above water when you fall?Because the legs will float so high?

  • @sangolt88 no

  • @sangolt88 nahh its not man

i was thinking that when i went wake boarding today for the first time i was like oh shit man im gonna not get up and make myself look like a fool and drown myself at the same time! nahh its not you just sorto have to float on your back

  • how fast the boat must go for beginners?

    thank for the vid mate!

  • i have to do it again...

  • Any one got advice just send me info pleace live Orlando just moved down from NY i amdescent at snowboarding are hey the same techniques? I want to go to OWC when the water warms up.

  • well its kinda weird how people are saying his method doesn't work when obviously in the vid he gets up smoothly without fallin all over the place

  • defix9 is the biggest fucking retard (NO ONE LISTEN TO HIM)

if he listened the guy actually says; the boat will pull you up and you should then put all your weight on top of the board and keep your heels down and toes up which means he is implying to lean back,. stupid fck

btw everyone that says this is a shit vid doesnt know how to wakeboard and probs neva have so watch this and listen for 100% gurantee on how to get up..

  • hes right, you prettty much do nothing. but he is an idiot at the same time. you dont lean on top of your board! you will catch with your toeside and flip if you have never wakeboared before!!! you fkn lean back with your knees on your chest, the boat brings you up

  • I find it funny how guys think, that he doesnt know what his talking about!

  • I thought you lean back

  • this guy's method takes forever

  • i tried to do this and just kept going onto my face!! WHY!!!!!!!!!! ahhhhh

  • The way i get up is weird, i start normally and as i get pulled, it starts to feel really unnatural and like im going to fall, but as soon as it starts to tug i literally just stand up and its easy...

  • yep i tried his way... fail! then i decided to just try to stand up and got it right away.

  • I know right, i think people try and look into it too much when really you should just stand up when it feels natural.

  • there's a much easier way to get up than how he's saying to do it. As soon as u feel the tug from the boat turn the board sideways and let the boat pull u out. U'll be out of the water in literally 2 seconds.

  • i totally agree with you :)

  • this method didnt work for me. my board dosnt have molded outer fins and it has the center fins. anyone know a video that will work for me?

  • this method worked for me! I got up on the 2nd try in choppy water conditions.

  • we always jump from the side the boat accelerates and your off

  • this method is good even with center fins because they let you know when you can twist. And you guys are the one watching this video "how to get up on a wakeboard" so why watch this video if you already know how? I myself just like this guys videos and wanted to see if he did it a different way them me which he doesnt.

  • this positon its the hardes specially with boards with center fins, i tried this method and is harder than your normal up and twist

  • This method is crap. Most beginners aren't starting on a board with molded outer fins and they'll usually have 2.5" center fins and no other fins. That means that staying in a ball in impossable.

When you have those center fins you have to turn and stand at the same time. Too early and you flip over forwards, too late and the handle's gonna rip outta your hands.

  • that lake is crazy smooth.

  • Can you do this with a 25 yamaha? Just wondering

  • kneeboarding is more fun!

  • Thanks a lot. nice video. I will try it out tomorrow

  • Is it possible as a beginner to be able to get up behind a jet ski?

  • Yes it is as a matter of fact i did it today cause I'm starting to learn how and its really fun once you get up on it.

  • yh i was doing it yesterday for my first time behind a jetski

  • Absolutely, I just got a wakeboard and haven't even been behind a boat yet and got up behind the jet ski

  • for all those people who say you can't start slow, you can start slow, it's just harder on your body because you have to hold your position longer. I can pretty much start at any speed now and last year i couldn't even get up. when i was learning, i tried it like this, but now that i can get up easily, i just turn my board right from the start and whoever is driving the jetski just guns in, pulls me out in a second, up and out. it is different thouh getting towed behind a jetski rather than boat

  • Great Video! First time wakeboarding not so hot... Next time wakeboarding after watching this video took me two time to get up and ride! Thanks for the help!!

  • and i notice your board does not float will the float make it harder or easier?

  • ok ive gotten up on a wake board befor but since then ive gotten a little heavier and i cant get up on it and more i have not tried this way yet but would it work for some one not 120-130lbs (im 195) will this still work?

  • Yeah i'm right at 200lbs and it works great

  • it's very simple... when u feel the resistence, just push the board to the front, and asif ur sitting on the floor, and someone is pulling u up.. and when ur up... hold the handle with one hand ... i find it easier

  • i sit down like im in a chair and point my toes and just let the boat pull me up

  • okay well i just got my first wakeboard but...with the fins on the bottom of the board make their baen alot of resistance when trying to get up...

  • iget a wake skate and is harder than wakeboard and then i get a wakeboard

but is to easy wake board if u know how to wakeskate

  • i just need to know how to drive a wakeboarder, im used to driving skiers so do i go from 0-30 in a short burst or or do i pull them up slowly NEED HELPPPPP

  • quick burst to get them up and then don't floor it up to 25-30 but gradually get there, with my dads ar230 i think he floors it 0-20/25ish and the gradually increases from there if i need it..

  • when I tow someone I take any slack out, then I give it power fairly fast, but in a gradular way. You don't need full throttle it like a skier. If you know what your doing for getting up on a wakeboard you can get up almost at any acceleration unless of course you have a very powerful boat, then it will probably rip the handle from your hands.

  • u start fast, not slow

  • I don't know how much you want to tell people to stay planeing out like that. Especially if they have some big fins on. I generally tell people to act like your getting up from a squat, but simotanously turn the board. I don't know if thats the best way, but I could see alot of people catching their toe edge doing it the way shown in this video.

  • it's a matter of preference

  • I think your right, he is using a board that has no fins, if your ass is out of the water, you should get into riding position.

  • The PurpelSamantha,

    how did it go:)?

  • i got a wakeboard a while ago and i couldnt get up at all, i guess i was fighting the rope, instead of letting the boat pull me up! im going 2 the lake in less than an hour and hopefull ill get up 2day!

  • I had tried wakeboarding 3 different times before seeing this video. I am 29 and have never tried any water sports. After watching this video a few times I went out and got up my first time and 5 times after that! Great video and thanks! Now to learn to stay up for awhile...lol

  • great info but not all lakes are glassy like this so plaining like that might not work if not just point the board at the boat and stay in the ball :)

  • ahhh Im gonna try this Friday...again. I'm sure your tips will help..I was waaaaay off before lol

  • I just got a wakeboard for my 15th birthday, tomorrow im going to go try it out, this video, and all your other video's have informed me alot about wakeboarding. hopefully tomorrow i will do good. thank you!!!

  • thank you so muc for this vid-5 stars

  • have tried and failed to get up,got hurt the first time and that kept me from trying for 2 years .studied this vid alot, went to the lake this morning and popped up the very first time and every time their after. at 49 yrs old and new to boating,Im no longer the D D...Thanks

  • Got a wakeboard today and heading to the lake in two days. TY for the vid, it has been very helpful. Wish me luck :) It will be my first try.

  • is jobe a good wakeboard??

  • I pull my tubers, boarders and skiers using my transom eyelets, NOT my tower (when they are beginners). they claim it is much easier. Also, if your board has a middle fin, dont start the way this guy is saying. you will face plant every time.
