Here is my solution... Remove marriage from all government language since it is part of "church" ..Separation of church and state anyone? Replace it with civil unions for both that are equal. @alxan2011 Well, I am going by the fact he converted to Catholicism. Generally part of the process is that one goes to confession. Also the church requires confession at least once per year. If Newt wasn't serious about being a Catholic I doubt he would have converted. Plus it's very easy to discern a person's character by the words they speak.

If a person goes to confession and the confession is sincere and the person does not conceal any mortal sins, then the person is forgiven. Don't you believe God forgives sins? @imbonnie - People like yourself were also pretty vocal how it was "wrong" and against Gawduhh for a white man and black woman or vice versa to have relations, that mixed kiddies were abominations and would eventually lead to the destruction of the white race and you had Bible-based laws in place like the Racial Integrity Act of 1924 that let police invade private homes just so they could bust the couples who broke that law.

Newt became Catholic. I assume he went to confession for any past sins before his conversion. If Newt was absolved by God for prior sins who am i to hold it against him. @alxan2011 Well, I am going by the fact he converted to Catholicism. Generally part of the process is that one goes to confession. Also the church requires confession at least once per year. If Newt wasn't serious about being a Catholic I doubt he would have converted. Plus it's very easy to discern a person's character by the words they speak.

Remember, you can't prove your "morality." Some would say equality is endowed upon each of us by our creator and that violating this tenet is immoral. However, you've clearly shown its the convexity of the person you have sex with as the true litmus test for eternal damnation (honestly?!).

@alxan2011 For the humble it's easy. For those with a lot of pride it's not easy. If a person goes to confession and the confession is sincere and the person does not conceal any mortal sins, then the person is forgiven. Don't you believe God forgives sins? You need to make a distinction from one living in sin and one who has sinned in the past but has turned away from those sins. There are saints who were very bad sinners once.

@imbonnie Humility? How much pride must you exude to honestly think that you know how God operates to the point of dictating the most personal aspects of another's life? THAT takes pride and arrogance. If a man, even blinded by faith, had any ounce of humility he would surely recognize the feeble mind of man and surely not have so much pride and arrogance in oneself to mistake his own will and perception for that of God's. This is the root of dogmatism and danger.

I believe in George Washington because there exists factual evidence for his existence, and more documentation and witnesses of his life than there are for god. According to my religion homosexual acts are grave sins. Yet California now passed a law that requires homosexual history to be taught in schools. Essentially it indoctrinates youth that such actions are good and acceptable. This is a violation on my religious freedom.
