  • Victoria era... modern... contemporary. it does not matter... when their image is the only thing a person feels they have to offer.. become possible? then to add any consequences being added into that image only you see... then why, really, would someone who valued image question the morals of something inanimate reaping the consequences...

vanity is timeless.. insecurity is timeless... and so is denial of blame..

  • dove trovo questo film in strearming ?

  • RIIIIIIKUUUUUU RIUIIIKUUUU RIIIKUUUUU XDXDXDXDXDXDXDXDXDXD

  • Poor Wilde. Aside from the bland Ben Barnes version, this Duncan Roy version is a mockery towards EVERYTHING Wilde had to go through just to publish Dorian Gray alone. From ignorant people opressing him because of his sexuality to dealing with other writers, all he ever wanted to create was wonderful literature The fact that the movie directors and the media don't respect that is disgusting. R.I.P Sir Wilde. You're Loved and Missed by me and all who feel the same. AMEN.

  • Has anyone read the book? Is it a good read?

  • @stalkingyourmomm I have read it and yes it is GREAT read.

  • @stalkingyourmomm I am reading it and I have to say that I have no words, this book is wonderful

  • This is going to be so fucking bad. Oscar Wilde is fapping his tears away in his grave right now.

  • What is the song playing here?

  • @TheCocaineDiaries Mogwai - 2 Rights make 1 wrong

  • ummm where can i get/see/dl/buy this movie?

  • It was hard to watch trailer...can't imagine if i would try to watch the whole thing...oh the agony

  • ugly!

  • I want to see it. I am on a quest to watch every English 'Dorian Gray' movie. Anyone with any info that would help me find this movie, I would be SUPER grateful... I've been looking forever to no avail.

  • Oscar would have been proud.

  • I wanna see it i wish they would at least put it online!

  • Is there a link to watch this online? Can't find one anywhere.

  • looks very bad, but i like that song, anyone know?

  • this film looks awful

  • it's look very cheap :D

  • Spam is for people who can't afford real meat.

  • exactly.

  • David Gallagher...i just keep seeing the little kid from 7th Heaven. Needless to say, I'll stick to the book on this one

  • wow so much spam... these people advertising for websites should be banned.

  • is this movie out yet

  • maybe the trailer was put together terribly but since I don't worship any movie actor/actress - let alone general no-name actors, this trailer looks like a really bad drama B-flick.

    Cliche after Cliche.

If you want people to watch a movie at least make it look good in the trailer. I will NOT be wasting 20+ dollars to see this in the theater.

  • perfect movie

  • who cares if the movies crap david gallagher is hot as 200 degree weather

  • @sherryenea18:"who cares if the movies crap david gallagher is hot as 200 degree weather" - I care. Watching bad movies is like eating at a restaurant because you know they spit in your food.

  • Plan 9 from Outer Space is terrible, and I still watch it. lol Just ribbing you. :) Sometimes i like to watch movies cause they are bad, depends if they are painfully bad or haha bad. :) But this DOES look terrible, an update of The Picture of Dorian Gray? That just sounds like a train wreck and it looks like one too, but I agree David Gallagher is hot. :)

  • What a great idea for a story. I wish I had one of these portraits... come to think of it - maybe I do.

  • i cant wait for this

  • bhosra!!!

  • Cliche after cliche.

  • crappy trailer, terrible acting and directing

  • this looks totaly shit

  • my god it looks crap i wanna watch the 2009 version this just looks dodgy :/

  • Is this available to watch online anywhere?

  • Hell this is the modern adaptation of Dorian Gray LOL. At first i thought this was a home made video or something lol. But now I remember reading about this one. They tried to make this too modern and even made Basil Hallward a woman!

Thank God there's the real Dorian Gray movie being made atm with Ben Barnes as Dorian! Its gonna be really cool!!!!

  • Yeah I think Oscar Wilde wouldn't be pleased that Basil is a woman. I mean it sort of ruins nearly half of the homoeroticisms in the book. It changes it completely! And I mean if it's modern, it should be more accepted right? Silly producers.

  • I totally agree with you

  • Yes, you are completely right. the book is simply a diary of wildes personal emotions. yes ,i admit it could make since with a woman because the same jealousy of dorians youth could be betrayed . and not forgetting the lust. but the one reason this book is so amazing is because of the hidden homoeroticism of oscar wilde. how dear they take that away. im on the edge right now. my emotions have taken over my ability to make clear since.

  • 'Hidden' homoeroticism in Wilde? Come on, imagine how you would feel if two older men were acting and talking around you like that.

If he were alive today I do not think he would have written more openly about his sexuality than in this book. He had more class than that as an artist.

  • Cody-Mowgai!

  • FAIL.......... 1945 version will always be the best

  • totally agree

  • i know it's got shitty reviws, but i really wanna watch this movie:/

  • is this real? It looks way amateur. And crap. God, Oscar Wilde would be spinning in his lipstick-covered tomb.

  • I agree with SephiShinso...

  • Dorian Gray could surely work in a modern setting, but (looking just at the trailer) that film is....not enough for Wilde's awesome story. I just don't like the actor, the locations (those I have seen)...everything. Being maybe too sincere, it's far to the book and near a crap [sorry but that is my favourite novel and I simply don't accept something like that]

  • I agree with you entirely.

  • It's like "OMG...Dude you can be like too cool like 4ever!" and D's like "Yeah" and like....so...

    What crap!

Is it not too much to expect that people can still READ the original story - or, at least put down the iPhone long enough to follow a few paragraphs...

  • did people actually go see this? gross.

  • anyone know the song?

  • Pilate (now called Pilot Speed) Toronto based band - "Melt into the Walls"

  • Please i know ask you of youtube to give this comment a thumbs up if you belive people need to stop adapting and basing shit off of beloved classic. Thank you.

  • It's not an update! It's not a REBOOT!

    It's...A RE-IMAGINING!!!

    FABULOUS!

BTW, I'm remaking Moby Dick, only instead of the sea the action takes place in a virtual e-commerce store, and instead of a Whale, Moby Dick is going to be the new iPHone. Give me $30K and I'll make you famous.

  • i have not seen this.. BUT based on the trailer... if they wanted to make a modern version like they did Romeo & Juliet FINE but they should have kept it a gay story

  • good god almighty.

Why on earth someone would feel the need to take a work of art and utterly crucify it in such a heartless and merciless fashion as to modernize it is completely beyond me. The social context of the Victorian era is of vital importance to the entire plot- Wilde touched on many issues besides the basic 'vanity'/'cruelty' shown here. Any fool could write about that. Clearly, someone has grasped the wrong end of the stick here. Do your research, whoever you are, I implore you!

  • Despite the obvious of this being a poorly done adaptation, I don't think that means that Dorian Gray could not work in a modern setting. Many conventions from the Victorian era still reign today in America from those that cling to the traditional puritan values. It's all about setting and character and perhaps a little more creative license.

  • Well, perhaps its not the idea of modernizing it because it can't be done that irritates me, but more because I find it entirely unnecessary. Why do we need a modern version when the original is perfect? It almost seems an insult to suggest that a modernization is necessary, but perhaps I'm just being a little overprotective...

  • I understand exactly what you're saying, but I don't see it as much as modernization as it is a loose adaptation based on the book?

  • Amen.

  • @NickiTherese because there's no vanity/cruelty in the modern world... riiight

  • @NickiTherese u speak the truth, totally right

  • Hi, I'd love to see this movie, as I've noticed a lot of different critics on the internet, but unfortunately I can't find it anywhere to download. Would someone be that nice and give me the link or sth? Thank you ^_^

  • the whole modern time doesnt work with a Wilde novel, i do hope the 2009 is good

  • Oh, well... "Refreshing" of classics may be a good idea, it makes some young people able to understand them better - or makes teens interested in this one particular movie at least. But there's just one condition - directors, please, THINK before you do sth like that!

(Gamenorus, I as a Wilde's reader never pictured Dorian as a gangster boy xDD)

  • what a flagrant insult to an important piece of literature. Appaulling.

  • He was irish.

  • Wait, Americans are those stupid, fat and arrogant people that leave in complete denial of whats going on to the rest of the world ? Bin laden ? Where are u man ? Cmon !!?

  • Wow... I guess you can do whatever you like and then call it a work of art these days. What does it matter that you are dancing on the grave of a masterpiece?

  • i like ben barnes a lot, but isn't dorian supposed to be blonde?

  • omg this cant be real.........plz tell me this isnt real.......im goin to cry if this is real!

  • this looks awful. I agree they have killed the book.

  • Horrible.

  • WTF !!

    OMG MY EYESSS!!!!

    IT BURNSSSS!!!

    *dies*

  • lol

  • I remember seeing the Black and White version on TV and it stills scares the crap out of me!! The picture at the end of the movie, made me sick for days.

Ok for staying young forever, do what the vampire family in Twlight did, move to another town, country every 10 years.

No more embarassing questions or looks.

  • Oh dear god, why have the Americans butchered this book by Oscar Wilde. This is a classic 1800's British book, this film is criminal to the book, for shame!

  • Unfortunately that's the american way of showing appreciation: screwing it up on a condensed pile of stupidity, so that every (grown up) eight-year-old yankee boy can smile and say: "Indeed a masterpiece of the genre!"

No wonder still nowadays the best english language writers are not american... Nor will ever be.

(PS: Did any of Wilde's readers ever picture Dorian as a gangster boy??)

  • Forgive me if I'm wrong but was Wilde not Irish and have the Americans butchered, therefore, an Irish and not a British book? Dia dhuit.

  • It's based on the ENGLISH social class system, not Irish.

  • has anybody got it? i wanna see it, but i have'nt found it yet...

  • -_-.. that was so disgusting

what the hell is wrong with the movie industry now

do they have nothing better to do then bootleg off of classics

  • ..ok.

First: I'm disappointed, I should've stayed with my imagination's version of the book.

Second: 0:57 was that a guy's hand cupping his chin???! 0.o

  • They raped the awesome story of Dorian gray, they raped the book... :-(

  • Comment removed

  • i think this movie looks pretty cool!

  • oh boy, I haven't seen it yet but I'm pretty sure they butchered the book.

  • Okay this sucks! I always thought they should make a move of the book. It's my favorite book ever. But this movie just sucks. God... I hope they're gonna make a remake and a BETTER one.

  • They didn't even show anything that looks remotely close to the book's storyline.

  • just thought you might like to know, there have actually been quite a few adaptations of the novel, although many are older films. However, they are closer to the book.

  • they're working on a newer one right now that's supposed to come out in november 2009.

    ben barnes plays dorian gray

  • If everyone is so disappointed with the current book adaptations then go out, get a job in Hollywood, and make a better one.

  • this version sucks!!!

  • Hahaha, I recently read the book, I consider it a masterpiece, really, It´s a great story. And I think it´d be a good idea to make a movie about it that takes place in our time, but I didn´t like the trailer, sorry.

  • I agree; I'm glad Oscar Wilde isn't here to see this. Frankly, I'm embarrassed by it. I don't like how they tried to "modernize" it or whatever, and I hate the fact that they got such mediocre actors, especially the one they got to play Dorian Gray.

I love this book and it's such a shame to see these crappy modern movies based on such a great piece of art.

  • I couldn't have worded it better myself. Mr. Wilde must be spinning in his grave. WTF is this crap? Why do they insist on killing a classic?

  • Good heavens! Another poorly done modern adaptation of the book. I'm glad that Oscar is not alive to see his work being represented so vulgarly.

The 45's version is the one and only that makes it justice. I hope that now in 2009 they make a better production.

  • What the hell is this?!

  • that movie looks dumb

  • The book is awesome...and movie i don t know,i hope it will be great like book *-*

  • The new Dorian Gray movies are so bad. They don't portray the book well.

  • Has this been released?

  • Yes.

  • i've looked everywhere 4 a copy of this movie. cannot find it.

  • I know, me too. But every site I've found says it's been released since 2006.

  • sry but i think a old film was better, much more better.

  • Nooooooo! What have they DONE?

  • this looks cool

  • I hate the news films of the picture of dorian gray,I love the film of 1976

  • all I can say is: Stuart Townsend

  • it is interesting...btw I did not get that ridicilous comment about gay stereotypes. You think gay people like it? It is because of homophobic people that such stereotypes exist.

  • This looks... interesting, if not good...

  • O my God...NOOOOO, this is not Dorian Grey!!!

  • yeah...I love Josh Duhamel being Dorian Gray. This will ruin the charm of the book.

  • speaking of something a little more serious(& off topic) i need to confess that i can get p*ssed off at gay ppl sometimes. And this is probably not even their fault, but i feel this whole gay thing has reached to such extremity, that you can no longer behave in certain ways because of the stereotypes existing in the society! People automatically assume you are gay because you may "resemble" someone who SEEMS "gay". I think even Oscar Wilde would've found this sh*t ridiculous. LOL

  • Give me an example of someone who SEEMS GAY

  • u do know that Oscar Wilde is a homosexual, right?

  • yes i do..that was why i brought up his name in the first place.

  • What does that matter? He went to jail and died for it too.

  • How GAYYY!!!

  • stuart townsend is still the best dorian grey! :; :P

  • he's not hot enough to play an 'eternally beautiful' man. Ew.

  • who would you have chosen to play the beautiful man?

  • I like the actor who's playing it in the upcoming film, Ben Barnes. That's just my opinion.

  • this movie kills the pictures of dorian grey

  • totally

  • This looks like an awesome retelling

    x

  • looks whiny and lame, why can't they have the guy stay young and fuck and have fun pretty much forever? why spoil it by making it all stressful n whiny?

  • What the hell have they done to the book??

In any case, I think Johnny Depp is the real Dorian Gray. Seriously, that guy just doesn't age.

  • For those of us who like books of our high school years ruined...

  • Hm, I think a Dorian Gray movie should be chock full of insanely gorgeous guys. As it is... that guy is just okay-looking. Probably not even good-looking enough for the real Dorian Gray to "ruin the repuation of." :D

  • what a fantastic story, fantastic characters, fantastic book..............what a genius.....WILDE..............DANDY 4EVER

  • I can't even watch the trailer...it's awful. As is they are simply making fun of the book.

  • when i read oscar wilde's dorian gray, i imagined dorian gray to be a good looking young man like........ WILLIAM BECKETT. no offense to barnes' fans out there..besides, ben barnes is quite a look alike of beckett. so i guess he's fine..

  • It would have been cooler if he was insanely good-looking, as he apparently was in the book. Since he's average-looking I don't see much point in him being young or old.

  • i wanna see this....david looks really cool. ^_^

  • Guys, this is NOT the same version that Ben Barnes will be in. This version was already released a few years ago, I think, and the Ben Barnes version will be coming out in November of next year.

  • It'll be interesting to watch.

  • Oh he's the cute one from 7th heaven! back from the old days

  • does anyone here know where I can find this movie to download?

It's impossible on torrent or dvd.

    I want to watch =[

  • i'm sorry i only heard about this movie becuse i read that ben banres was gonna be in it but who is dorrin gray

  • David Gallagher is gonna be Dorian.

  • same here where is my cousin

  • Sorry but where is Josh Duhamel?

  • I also wuld like to ask where is Ben Barnes ?

  • Wow, The original movie (the one in Black and White) That was a great movie. However, I think I may have to pass on this one. NOTHING Like the Original.

  • i love the book,i think it was brilliant, and oscar wilde is a complete genius,... i love dorian gray, uhm i thik david gallagher is cute but i dont think this film would justify the book, my apologies, er no dorian isnt gay if you have read the book, then you would know that....

  • love the book :)

    hope to see the film..

  • I'm glad Oscar isn't alive to see this...

  • me too :(

  • There are homo-erotic undertones to the characters of Basil and Lord Watton, but no, Dorian isn't gay.

  • is basil gay for dorian? that is what i thought at the beginning but changed my mind later on.

  • Basil certainly had romantic feelings for Dorian. He confesses to Dorian when he asks why Basil didn't want to exhibit the portrait. Basil doesn't say "I love you" outright but the narrative makes it clear that it was a confession of romance.

  • really? i never thought of basil like that..

  • I swear Dorian's bi because throughout the whole movie there are undertones of him being involved with both men and women. I think this book was actually used as evidence in Oscar's trial before he went to prison. :(

  • actually when they published it he had to take out a lot of the homosexual undertones. Also, if that girl who slammed her fist into the mirror was Sybal Vane then that would be an interesting twist on how she died in the book. This movie looks kinda cool.

  • What the shit...

    no. just no.

  • i like the book ...its filled with many inspirational quotes *perhaps*

  • this is really bad movie! Stick with the book guys!

  • eh wasn't dorian gay? or something....

  • From what I can see, this is nothing like my favourite novel.

The only part of this trailer that is obviously from the book is when Dorian buries the gun.

But, he doesn't even use a gun, and that is the scariest part of the whole book, and I can see they've wrecked it! I'm really pissed off about this, they should leave these kinds of books alone.

  • This is not the real trailer....clearly fan made. Or it may be from a movie from a long time ago....i think you may be waiting for the film staring ben barnes due to come out next year i think?? the trailer for that has not been released. so there is hope yet

  • No, it's definitely real. It's up on the official site and everything. It does look severely fan-made, though.

  • he nevers burry the knife. he uses it the end of the book again

  • What the hell is this...ruined...this movie ruins the entire story...I can tell by the trailer...no..
