  • Strap On sally chased us up the alley.....

  • No, that's his side project "Faster Than Flash." The song was called :"Harbourside '83." It's here on youtube. Watched it the other day.

  • Shame they couldnt sing live. Watch this song live at Glasto......... I like this band but Glasto version was 'turn offable'

  • Fuck it... Stone Roses rocked, but so did the Seahorses so get over it ya bunch of bawcans!

  • Great big harmonies

  • the seahorses = he hates roses

    so there!

  • @TheGalwayFarmer loves em again now lol

  • Song sounds ok but would not sound bad with the rest of the Stone roses backing you know what I mean?

  • I'm not sorry this fake 60s era is gone from music.

  • I've just realised that's John Squire of the roses haha what a nob

  • at about 50seconds the lead guitarist looks exactly like the Kaiser chiefs drummer...

  • ITS TIME TO ROLL. MINT ENJOY.

  • now that we know where we're goin arr kid,ha ha,praise be to the shire.

  • seen em in barcelona about 1998, supporting oasis, blew em off stage

  • Squire better write a song like this for the next Roses album!! The Roses would have smashed this tune!

  • John ♥ the best of this song ._.

  • Strap on Sally, chased us down the alley, we feared for our behinds. lol

  • Yeah!!!

  • ...Preferred the Shirehorses

  • @jackjude I do miss Mark 'n' Lard...... ;))

  • Strap on Sally chased us down the alley!

  • no solo thumbs down

  • always thought chris helme looked a bit like syd barrett

  • I loved the Seahorses. Saw them live and they were brilliant..Kinda fancied Chris Helme back in the day ahem!!!!

Anyway..I bought every song they ever released..some of their B sides were pretty fantastic.

Shame they only did the 1 album....I guess that was Squires and his usual huffy hissy-fit behaviour!

  • I heard this song on an alternative music radio station in the late '90's. Absolutely loved it. Forgot about it for a couple of years but bought the cd off ebay in 2005. You know what? The album is full of great songs like this. Recommended!

  • Just so good! just so good!

  • Top band, end of.

  • 11 people have been caught by strap on Sally!!!

  • Saw them in Cardiff Uni, John Squire is magic and Chris Helm was gorgeous.

  • Bob on this.

  • I haven't had the CD out in years (I played it to death). Feel like a right tosser now.

  • I can only briefly remember listening to the seahorses as a child, but christ, listening to them today, they're brilliant.

  • "Strap on Sally chased us down the alley, we feared for our behinds", possibly the best lyric of all time!

  • good song i like it

  • this reminds me when i was 16 and just got into alcohol and girls

  • @MrNessy811 Bit of a late starter?

  • @MrNessy811 mug

  • @vymmas

  • Norvern cunts!!

  • When this song was released we had once more sunk into a dirge.... Oasis was already belting out handbag classics such as Dont Look Back In Anger and the glorious freshness in music had passed as quickly as it had sprung on us. We felt that the late 30 year olds were ruining our music by screaming out our favourite songs in Blackpool pubs and as usual Radio 1 had missed the boat and was playing catch up by playing 3rd rate one hit wonders... then this came along and blew us apart.....

  • Love is the Law is my favorite album ever

  • @PabloBrown7 clown

  • @vymmas Why am I a clown?

  • @PabloBrown7 cos mate, the albums called 'do it yourself'

  • Its such a shame he couldnt sing like this Live!!!

  • Love the album version with the loooong guitar outro, perfect.

  • thegoodteacher(dot)com

  • do it yourself,1 of the best albums of 97,well except Be Here now.

  • Amazing - love this tune and love the Sea Horses! 4 ever!

  • this is quoting the highest teaching of aleister crowley, the wickedest man in the world

  • fuckin tune mate

  • 9 people got caught by strap on Sally.

  • i do live in a dog fish egg case lecy guit was perfected here

  • lol i think john squire is the only bloke in the world i'd gladly suck off for his guitar riffs

  • We are due another indie era I think. Music is shit at the moment.

  • @SJGSpook Bang on

  • @SJGSpook You're right. Rock n Roll will be back very soon, don't you worry about that. The cycle will begin again

  • great fucking tune..so much better than the shite coming out these days

  • fuckin tuuuuuuuuuuuune

  • my lost soul is found.

  • this song remenber me of my gf dead she love it god blesse her i love her toooo much she is in my mind foreger and heart

  • for a guitar hero - i thought there would be a long solo or something

  • What's happend to John Squires, get the Roses back together man and make a mint.

  • and yeah I DO know this is the 90s before ppl call me a ''dum ass!''

  • Used to have a mad crush on the singer back then I was only a little un! Must have been the 70s hair he had!! he's still well cute! I'm mad about the 70s!

  • Cracking tune, seen them in Slane Castle 1998. Brings back fond memories.

  • WHAT a top tune ,needs a good airing

  • Very nice video.

    ...the song is a masterpiece!

  • great track ... takes you back

  • one of the most solid bands ive heard in decades....sweet <3

  • hahaha,,,why would you listen to something you dislike ??? 515 likes, 9 people who should of clicked on justin bieber lol

  • @joshuacalum2011 It's a bizarre thing to do. It's not like the radio which you've no control on what song is played. You have to go looking for stuff on YT. You have to question; do these people go into supermarkets and buy food they don't like? Or eat peanuts even though they've got a peanut allergy?

  • @weirds0up Your too right, and I'm sure they do. Plus, I'm not even a fan but I play guitar and on the guitar front alone this is pretty much capable of topping 99% of all player's attempt's at one of those make a riff up moment's. It's one of those riff's that can literally make semen appear

  • @weirds0up Yes, yes they do, that's why there are warnings on peanut packets.

  • @joshuacalum2011 exactly!! this song is shit hot!! the seahorses mind me when i was a teenage gadgy!! braw!!

  • @joshuacalum2011

Just because someone doesn't like this doesn't mean they like the extreme opposite... open your mind a little eh?

  • @LeatyiZBeast

    awooga :toppa:

  • Thank you posting this video.

  • top tune fae mr squire again!!

  • astonishing riff. squire is a guitar genius. anyone know what guitar he's playing in this video? looks strange?

  • Simply a-maz-ing.....

  • Quality

  • the best of this band... only john squire <3

  • Saw these at the Parr Hall in Warrington when I was about 16, been to a lot of gigs but that was pretty cool

  • Great song. Maybe they never topped this one for me, but great song and good times. "Strap on Sally chased us down the alley / We feared for our behinds" haha never understood that line when it came out. I do now!

  • really like this.

  • This song could easily fit into second coming, I'm not saying if thats a good or bad thing.

  • englandddd respect!

  • stop comparing them to the roses. Just enjoy a 100% classic track.

Chris Helme is doing a gig at Pivo Pivo, Glasgow on the 29th December.

cant wait to hear some seahorses tracks live, it takes me right back

  • I've just read on Wikipedia on that Chris Squire thought this band got too much attention because of his previous work. IMHO this is just one of many tracks on one of the best albums of the 90's. Great guitar and vocal mix. One of my top 10 albums. Go on band, make up and record some more.

  • @LeopoldAlcocks1 .....JOHN SQUIRE!!!!!!!

  • @stoakley94 ...ah yes, Chris Squire would be bassist with Yes. Doh!

  • If i remember well... they split up when they were finishing to record their 2nd album... it's more than possible that there's a lot of finished songs that we don't know ... it's quite frustrating...

But i think that their 2nd was possibly not as good as their 1st... maybe that it was one of the reason of the split of the band

  • One of best bands of the 90's I reckon , along with the roses shame they had to split

  • the seahorses were loved by the music press were gonna bigger than oasis and blur decent band and this is a cracking song

  • SHIT! IT'S STRAP-ON SALLY! RUN!

  • absolutely lovin this!!!

  • Vastly underrated band. Squire FTW

  • I miss this kind of music. All it is nowadays is Black Man Techno...it's tragic.

  • really really loved this album was wanna my first all time greats of my era

  • This was a roses song.

  • @thenewfella1994 Watch Blackpool Live. Maybe he can sing these days, I don't follow him anymore (is he still releasing albums?) but he certainly wasn't very good back in the day.

  • fuckin qaulity

  • squire is a god

  • Impossible to compare the horses with the roses VERY different in style, I think people may prefer one or the other but to claim one is better than the other is nonsense.

Depending on my mood I love them both, As a guitarist I prefer the craft in the seahorses work.

  • singer looks like richard ashcroft.

    john squire is god.

  • John certainly spiced up this otherwise drab busking POS lol

  • This is a great track, very easy on the ear excellent instrument playing and nicely sung! Really rate this one!

  • john squire you god!

  • great guitar at the start love it

  • squire broke up the roses for this ?

    MUPPET

  • This song was ok for its time, but look up "Love is the Law " by Eyes of Blue (60's song) for a truly AWESOME, timeless song that should have been bloody No.1 a million times over..it's on here...listen..kinda like Procul Harem, only better..!

  • Always felt the verses let this song down. The chorus is great and Squire's riffery is the bollox, but those sub-Noel verses just aren't good enuff.

  • he hates roses

  • great song!!

  • i was the odd one out in london growing up in school listiniing to bands like these most people were or wanted to be black and listen to rap

  • why can't people just get on with eachother???

  • @scanny21UK They're not trying. It's all about getting used to get on.

  • UNDERRATED

  • average brit pop 4 its time not bad

  • Nooow we know we're goooing our kid...!!!

  • @Oscar301 Just sit back enjoooooy the riiiiide!!!! Shirehorses forever!!!!

  • @yianni1071 Mustn't grumble!

  • I have never seen this video... thanks for posting it. Amazing band

  • holly shit why do i feel like i m listening to the beatles circa 1968 69 ....no wonder this lot didnt last for more than one album...squire aside... really low on talent.

  • Nice riff. Shame the rest of the song is so dull.

  • Madferret haha wicked track

  • class tune. makes me think if i am the walrus was about love or something of the sort it'd be like this

  • Anyone who thinks this is better than the Roses knows nothing about music... decent tune, but not even near the Roses class.

  • Lucky enough to have seen them live, anyone know what singer is up to these days.

  • @punkit743

The singer for the seahorses? He had a band and did a few cd's i think, he's played working men's clubs etc. Every gig i've seen clips of he always makes digs at Squire and the roses but he's still playing Love Is The Law, quite simply because he wouldn't get as many gigs if he didn't. Not much integrity. Squire gave him a career, he walked out on it and is still living off him but he still takes the piss out of him a decade later. He seems like he has issues haha.

  • @MrModDog @punkit743

I seen Chris play last night. From speaking to him my impression was that he is very relaxed and comfortable with how his life is.

There wasn't a hint of bitterness at all regarding the past.

His own solo material stood up very well next to anything he did with The Seahorses.

  • @13EMAIN14

Fair enough, I'm glad he's happy and having seen some of his performances on youtube, I would say he's singing better now and his other tunes are good. But I have seen him make several comments and heard from other people about him saying stuff at other gigs too. Maybe he was just drunk, or maybe he is over it now.

  • she was a rum old slapper and we always tried to get her pants off when she called real class, chris helme, a legend

  • madferrit

  • Wicked lyrics wicked tune!!! Rome old slapper!!

  • imagine if the seahorses, stone roses and oasis were to make a compilation album. would be amazing, even though seahorses are more like stone roses than oasis, these days oasis and maybe kasabian are the only true rock n roll bands around, still nothing compared to these and stone roses though

  • Love this song, Squires is a legend

  • oasis is a shop with shoes so hot!....class

  • What guitar is Squire playing? Looks like some crazy Tele... love the headstock.

  • @stenwald Check the top comments :)

  • @stenwald

A Lindert... a guitar company that is now out of business. I actually owned one identical to Squire's here... and it was a pain in the ass. The neck was a disaster and the pickups were touchy as hell. I think Squire was just showing it off here because it looked cool. But as a functional instrument... good God... it was a trainwreck. In a weird way, I wish I still had it... very unique guitar.

  • @braddyboy82 Cheers for this mate - haha, I forgot all about my comment. I'm a sucker for esoteric guitars. I used to have a mid-80s l/h Rickenbacker 360-12. Let me say that it also played like a piece of crap. The 'R' tailpiece snapped and I never managed to get a replacement because Rickenbacker are so protective of their gear. I ended up playing it as a 6 string but even after two set-ups it never played right. I sold it in the end...

  • @stenwald It's a Telecaster copy made by Lindert.
