Sam&Max Freelance Police was the name of the animated show and the original title for the comics if I remember correctly. Also it was supposed to be the name of the Sam&Max sequel from Lucasarts that they cancelled quite erroneously. The correct title for this video should be "Sam and Max Hit The Road intro"
You might have not set up your sound card settings with the game properly. I tried to run Sam and Max on my old laptop and it said sound effects and voices failed to load.

This old 2D-style is so much better than new 3D. I hope someday adventure games returns to this style in graphics and gameplay also. I hate those episodic games.
First of all, the cartoon series wasn't the original. There was a comic. Then this adventure game called Sam and Max Hit the Road. After that came the cartoon, and I don't think the cartoon was any comparison to this awesome game.
The version you played was probably the floppy disk version. No voiceovers in that one, except for the intro, if I remember right. The CD-ROM had full voiceovers through the whole game.
SCUMMVM is stand-alone, so you need to buy or otherwise obtain the game and then copy the files to a directory. Run SCUMMVM and point it to that directory, it should detect the game automatically.
Uh... are you trying to tell me that Sam & Max are from Brooklyn? I don't know about all you other fans, but for me, it's mainly the voices that really make a cartoon great. I thought that Harvey Atkin and Robert Tinkler were the perfect fit for a pair like Sam and Max. It just doesn't feel the same, do it for me, roll my buttons, give teh funny, whatever you want to call it, with Sam & Max having Brooklyn accents. Max doesn't seem as crazy, and Sam doesn't seem as authoritative.
Is there any way to get the game to work on a new computer?
While I do sorely miss the 8/16 bit games (I just caught the tail-end of it-basically I grew up playing the Super Nintendo) LucasArts didn't make a horrible transition to 3-d. There's Grim Fandango and Psychonauts...oh and KOTOR.
So maybe it's not the golden age, but it's close enough.
I always loved this game , just don't try to run it on a newer P.C... well I guess that should be common sense but I wanted to see the result and here it is:
the sound won't work and the graphics fly on 2.3 ghz...lol
P.S. Sam either termites are burrowing though my skull or one of us is ticking.
There's a fun little program called SCUMMVM. It brings old Lucas Art adventure games back to life, in full sound etc. Try it. Worked on our packages of Indy- Fate of Atlantis, Sam & Max and Day of the Tentacle. Awesome! It even has graphics filters to smooth the edges of old blocky DOS graphics.
God, wasn't it great when Lucas Arts was famous for making great games like this instead of the worthless crap they put out now? If you ever play this again (you need SCUMMVM- look it up online) tell Sam to pick up an object that he can't over and over again. Watch the great tongue-lashing Sam gives you after about 5 times.
Epic game is epic

I had did game it was brilliant but I don't remember there was voice acting in the game. Is this the re-released version for windows?
Paul382 3 years ago 2
If you had the floppy disk version there would be no voice overs.

I had a disc version.

@evilguy0 The floppy disk version had voices for the whole intro (except when at the office).

Well, they suck for scrapping Sam and Max: Feelance Police, and they suck for scrapping Full Throttle 2.

I like both the new and old voices. For me, its prettz hard to compare the old onew with new ones. Each set of voices has a different athmosphere.
