I just downloaded your movie, it's GOOD, the takes were slow so don't have rolling shutter problem. Actually i read that the problem is no the rolling shutter but the read-reset time, like the new RED that use Rolling Shutter with very low read-reset time, and so the CMOS looks more cinematic then the CCD (as i notice, IMO). Do you think that a firmware update or a software (i found one) can solve the skew distort of the fast takes in 7d?
I believe a firmware update could improve the rolling shutter. The future will tell. I understand that there are software plug-ins that also help reduce rolling shutter although I couldn't tell you what they are but, when I find out... I'll follow up with a post.
Thanks for sharing that info. I'm sure others will benefit from this info too.
Rolling shutter is just a fact of life with CMOS sensors. Firmware can't change physics. If you don't want rolling shutter then get a CCD camera. But if you can avoid situations with fast pans the 7D can capture some beautiful footage!
No.. no, you're right. This footage shows how bad the rolling shutter is. The flashing emergency lights make it worse. Flashing lights don't render well with CMOS chips. Plus I zoomed all the way out and made sudden camera moves without "IS" (image stabilization) turned on. The camera is far from perfect.
Thank you for your thoughtfulness! Yes, everyone is safe and they said the outpouring from neighbors has been amazing - they're very thankful. Any additional help is so needed - they have children and elderly parents who were living there as well and they've lost so much ... tragic event in their lives, especially right before the holidays.
This is truly a tragic event. I know nothing of the family involved with this fire. I hope all are safe and accounted for. If anyone knows of a support fund or the taking of donations, such as cloths, blankets, food, and such for the family please feel free to post info regarding such collections here. Thanks.
I remember this. It was sad...
