I just want to say that I don't watch IndyCar, and I don't understand the politics of it. Here in the UK, GT racing & Formula 1 is a lot more cut-throat. Even so, this is exactly what the stewards correctly concluded; it was a racing incident. We have hours to analyse these clips and still not agree, they have a split second to decide on a move. Power didn't leave enough room, Franchitti (like any self respecting race driver) was never going to back off, and couldn't steer any closer to the wall
Yes, it was Dario's fault. But Will closed on him, and paid the price (that either or both may have paid).
We will never agree on this moment. My point is - if Will had held his line, or not gone in so deep, he would have made it to the next turn - and possibly won the race. (I like both drivers. Dario was over aggressive, sure. But he saw an opening and took it. It didn't work as he imagined, but this is racing. Will compounded the situation when he turned in to cover his mistake)
So Will is 55% in the right. But he knew Dario was there, cut him off - and paid the price. It cost him greatly! He could have held his line and lived to fight another corner.
And his extended whining made him look like a loser.
Yeah you're right... He should just give up in every corner all the time and just let other drivers take his position. That will get him far won't it? It's Dario's fault.
I was at turn 3 when the incident happened. I saw Dario's hands reduce steering angle. It was intentional.
And Will had the right to squeeze. It was a legal move. Dario only had the right of way through that turn if he was beyond 50% past Will. By regulation, it is the responsibility of the overtaking car to make sure that both cars can navigate the turn without incident.
Go fuck yourself Franchitti. The only time that he doesn't complain is when he wins.
@arrowracer76 Dario's line was exactly the same the lap the incident happened as the lap after so intentional my ass, what was intentional was Will squeezing Dario against the wall. he almost fucking stuffed Dario into the wall he was squeezing so much. Dario had backed off when he saw Will was closing the door, but he was already along side him
@notyetpro1 I've been racing sports cars and karts for several years. If will squeezed Dario it was a legal move. And Dario did make an intentional move. If he had no intention of backing off. At the speed he was traveling, he still had enough traction remaining to apply the brakes.
I'm sure that someone who has no experience in motorsport would understand what ACTUALLY happened.
