I jst (10mins ago) finished reading the book and basically fell in love with the world Niel Gaiman created :) I had no idea it was a movie or tv series 4 that matter haha its cool 2 put a face 2 the ppl iv come 2 know :)
It's nothing to do with the book!!!! It's patetic and very bad acted! I hope it's a joke. The novel was something fantastic and I really hope there will be a sequel. But not on tv or cinema!
Ok idk if this movie trailer is real or not, but the person casted to play Islington is a horrible match up. He doesn't portray him at all how he is in the book.
@ILLER121 Unfortunately, there is .. I think it might still be here on Youtube somewhere, in installments, if they haven't take it down .. I believe the movie was done first, based on a screenplay of Neil Gaiman's, and that he was so dissatisfied with how they did the move, (poorly) ...that he wrote the full novel after it..
@tauntonlake The book is pretty awesome. The graphic novel is good too. I thought this was cheesy, but it was still good to see it on a screen though anyway I thought. I would love to see an anime feature or just a real current movie based off of it. In all the crap movies in the theaters these days it would be totally believeable to see this movie redone properly and put in theaters.
LOL wow when was this movie made?? cause it looks idk fake. i'm still reading the book, which so far is good so know that i saw the trailer to the movie i don't know if i should watch it. LOL
I really liked the TV program, though many people tell me there could have been a better Richard! Door played by Laura Fraser was very good and her two favourite roles of mine (Florence Nightingale and Henriette Dal-Beuxtasse)played the same strong and fun female lead. Oh yes, forgot to mention liked your trailer! sound could have been better- but! it has been favourited! ^_^
I see you are sticking with the tradition of giving away major plot points in trailers! A Not So Angelic Angel is just a major major spoiler (if you haven't read/seen this before!)
Just an interesting note on your comment... The book was actually written as an adaptation of the Mini-series which aired on the BBC. The footage above was made Before Gaiman ever wrote the book. The Book in my opinion is definitly superior (the knightbridge seen takes all of 2 minutes in the mini-series) but it's an interesting series to watch, if only to see how Gaiman came to write the book and flesh out the characters.
I thought Gaiman wrote the book because he couldn't write the script for the series the way he wanted. That's what the introduction says.. Maybe I'll have a look at the series some day, but this movie looks pretty bad either way
This 'movie' isn't a movie at all yet - the video's a montage of clips from the television show.
And Tantarus, Snyblind - a lot of people don't seem to realize? Gaiman was the one that created the show in the first place, along with a Lenny ________. It's his baby.
i've read the comic book. the novel is way better in all aspects; i had more fun imagining the characters and scenes in my head. forgive my criticism, but maybe if mr. gaiman did the comic, too...
i am so looking forward to the movie. i hope it'll stay true to the novel. stardust was, well, too hollywood for me. again with the critique.
on a positive note, good form, doreen, with the trailer. two thumbs up!
Actually a script has been written for a movie version but thy are still looking for a director. Also Neil Gaiman has said sequel to the book titled 'The Seven Sisters' is a possibility and that he has half writen a story in the same univers called 'How The Marquis Got His Coat Back'.
the fifth element soundtrack by Eric Serra, it has all the songs and is a great mix of all types of music, from opera to some Middle East/Indian inspired bits
According to Gaiman's latest blog entry, he's trying to work on a movie script for Neverwhere - I think it's the writer's strike that's stopping him at the moment.
The Marquis de Carabas I've always imagined as a black man, as i believe he is described, covered by many layers, to form a dark trench coat. He seems best imagined to me with a top hat that partially shades his face, with a mane of stringy hair (no beard or facial hair though). Since this movie is mostly underground, i believe this would be fairly easy. In most times, only two parts of his face should be visible; the whites of his eyes and the teeth in his grin.
That's nice and all but i was refering to the fact that i his character doesn't really have a name/title like "a not so angelic angel" or "inhuman killers"...he's just the Marquis, you know? That's why i ende leaving him out of the trailer..
in that case, i believe something like "a man of secrets" that lends itself to the mystery that the marquis seems to have around him. I know "man of secrets is lame, but you understand where i'm coming from
oh don't beat yourself up! but see my predicament? the Marquis is just one of those characters, undefinable...i liked the " Marquis-y Marquis" by the way ^_^
ya... now its been bugging me daily... i'll give it some thought...
... sly servant of the streets?
no, no... too much sibilance
fair weather friend?
friend for a favor?
one thing i think Croup and Vandemar need is sideburns... i know that sounds stupid, but it completes the animal nature
street-wise is good
o also, the marquis de carabas is based on a kind of 'cat-person' idea (second life is like nine lives, his name is from Puss in Boots) so that might be some direction...
I like the TV Croup&Vandemar more than the way they're portrayed in the comic, and i think they have sideburns in that so i dunno'. Depends on the actor i guess...Yeah and i still can't think of anything for De Carabas, maybe that's what Neil wanted?
Loved the trailer! Neverwhere is one of my favourite books! Same most of the characters in the T.V. series don't look like I imagined them...especially Door...Richard's pretty good though.
why the clip from Princess Mononoke?
