All things aside, it would be nice to take away the electronic ignition and put some triple carbs on an RB30 and then see how much horse power it makes. There's an LC GTR running around Adelaide with 415hp at the rear wheels with a turbo 202 in it and that didn't cost the 70,000 plus that the owner of this car has spent on it either!!!
WANKER comments!!! why not compare a 1920's steam engine with a modern EFI unit. History records the 202 as a very successful engine, it even won bathurst (an endurance race) against much bigger V8's. The RB30 turbo is an awesome powerplant but remember to compare apples with apples. By the way nice torry my LC bro ;)

It was bad enough that holden basterdized the vl with a ricer motor, why do you have to ruin a perfectly good torana with one? You could have at least built a nice turbo 202
your a tool. the RB30 is an amazing engine, and it can take alot more than a 202. a turbo 202 wouldnt stand a chance to this. im not knocking the 202 though, its a great engine. but even if you put 20 grand into one a rb30 with half the work will still beat it.
no you're a tool. i never said that the rb30 couldn't take more than a 202, I'm sure an rb30 can flog a 202 with half as much work done to it.
But I believe its sacrilegious to put a ricer motor in a car as great as a Torana. Its like the pope snorting cocaine off a hooker's arse. If not a 202 then why not a tuff 308. 355 stroker or something. Keep an aussie car aussie. It'll be a cold day in hell when I throw a jap motor in anything with a holden badge.
i do see your point, but you and i both know that every second torana has either a 308 or 355. i love those engines, they scare the shit out of me, but it takes complete balls to to something completely different. and i think this guy pulled it off. plus a 10 second RB costs alot less than a 10 second 308/355.
Hahahahahaha. Holden had to turf the 202 because it was a smelly old piece of crap. If it wasn't for the ricers your beloved commies would have died out years ago.
Ever since the japs invaded aussie in WW2 you guys have been bitter and twisted. Truth is the rb30 can flog a 202 with NO work done to it.
whats your point? a motor designed in the late 80's has more power than a motor designed in the 70's. truth is the NA rb30 produces 114kw and NA 202 produces 101kw, 13 more kw for an extra 10 years of manufacturing knowledge. wow you must be proud.
i believe his point was that you bolt on a nice garret on the rb30 your looking at 600+ where as the 202 you would need to spend loads just like i did to keep up dont get me wrong i love my cars its great fun but power wise its not that fun and it just doesnt put out the sound i like rb30s are great plus there injected fires first pot every time i also own a vl turbo but its been sheded since 1991 and it original my 202 cant even keep up to it and ive put over 10 thousand in the 202. vl is stock
i drive a holden, 1987 commodore. comes stock with the rb30 motor, and my vl keeps up with my mates 1994 vr with the shitty holden v6, i love holden. but a big chunk of holdens engines where shit. only one i love is the red 186 i have in my 1966 hr sedan.
I was just gona say didn't they come out in a six, is that whats in it, wonder how IT would go against the old nissans at bathurst (I KNOWW its a striper but uu know power to weight ratio) a good bit of mix and mach is always intresting as long as it has the holden badge, thats called development isn't it! sounded awsum. Dont mean to ramble im gone.
i am building a 408 cube windsor and i wouldnt want to meet that at the lights.
ps really well built cars that run like that are rare and when they are well mannered enough to cruise you should just shut the fuck up till you can run with it.
to the owner / builder imagine how much shit these fools would dish if it was the first nissan powered holden
ah dont listen to these shitheads, although im a american v8 fan i do like your car, trying something diffrent off the mainstream is always cool. so how much hp you got under that hood?
LMAO @ Zues, "ONLY a 10.3"? Thats a very wild street car if you ask me, "who puts a 6 in a car thats know for v8's"? For starters, LC's or LJ's were never produced with V8's, an LJ was planned, being the XU-2, correct me if im wrong. "Especially a jap engine"? I'm a V8 kind of man, but honestly, this engine will smoke most V8's, even in stock form, the RB30DET makes more power than a stock 308, please, correct me if im wrong, as im going by memory.
zeus261176 are a spastic and a hippocrit. On your profile you have a 66 Mustang coup with a 4.0Ltr turbo Falcon engine. How is that any different???? The Mustang actually came out of the factory with a v8... If anything the RB30 is keeping more to the the same path as the old Holdens - being a in-line 6. Only 10.3? Not bad for full street trim..
And for the record that car runs well under ten second passes. Do some research and know what you're on about before you criticize idiot.
Awsome run mate... Im thinking about doing the same conversion into my 4 door LC, just a little worried about killing myself is all. lol. Nice Job tho, obviosly done the hard work.
That is a fine looking torana man, very hot car, as for power, um did u even boost the turbs when u lit up the rears instantly. What would a set of slicks and a shot of NOS do to it.. I think you probably know. very cool, wanna sell it, . serious. message me
lol i ran that on the street wif my mums station wagon ea put it dis way close PFFFFFFTTTT haha i dont even think he hit boost haha chris knows whats going on thats one of the fastest street cars in aust.
