  • Most Definately needs to be proven although the design may look good, by experience it takes an incredible amount of water force to run an alternator.

  • Perfect! I've always wanted a piece of land like this. Now just connect the alternator to a bank of large batteries to keep them charged and use an inverter to power appliances. Might not be perfect but would definitely cut down your electric bill!

  • this is a good idea for producing power, but the rpms are not high enough for maximum output from the alternator, it's better to turn a large gear and run a belt to an alternator, I'm trying to work these details out, will hopefully have a video posted soon

    It is best applied directly on the turbine generator.

    Other systems to multiply revolutions have always many losses efficiency!

    That's why I used a small diameter turbine.

    And the only turbine Solving these problems is the turgo.

    The turbine in the movie with only 4 bar (40 meter net head) makes 2700 revolutions work.

  • Perhaps you're right, after considering the complexity of setting up a gearing system. While a lower rpm wouldn't create the maximum output from the alternator, I suppose running at lower speed would put less wear on the bearings and it would be a lot more simple to put the power directly on the alternator shaft, rather than having separate mechanical parts.

  • I found a way around the lower RPM! if you simply rewind the alternator to have twice as many turns of insulated wire, it will be able to produce double the current at a given speed. The overall amount of power possible will drop, but this is probably not a problem, since most unmodified alternators will only give their maximum current at around 6000 RPM.

  • pelton wheels need a decent head of water (e.g. 20+m), but the flow rates are normally pretty small. The rpm they put out is huge
