The answer is that the roll out icing will last for a very long time - especially if you use it on a polystyrene dummy cake. As it's basically sugar it acts as its own preservative. Just don't keep it in the fridge or it will 'sweat'.
will that rot if you have it out for a long time? I need to make a fake cake as a prop for a play but we still have a few months will it last that long?
