  • thank you from ukraine

  • This was very helpful thanks.... if only my ipod would go back together properly *sigh*

  • I'm just concerning that will these kind of cheap battery explode when the next time you need to heat it up again and replace another battery. thanks for the video, i watched it without sound and it still very clear and understandable.

  • Ipod mini is the best Ipod ever!!!

  • Announcement developed by Conair * LOL

  • what is the hair dryer for???!

  • Oddly enough, no words WERE necessary. thanks!!!!!

  • where do u get one of those batteries?

  • WOAH! You still have that?

  • i love ipods and the way apple act about music.

btw you can win free apple products just like the ipod mini and much much more just by watching videos through a website! its free

watch mi video for more information!

  • i have just successfuly replaced my ipod mini's battery!

    Great video for instructions!!

  • hi, i love it!

btw you can get one free just by watching videos and answering some questions through a website! its free.

watch my video for more information!

  • so there is a mini, i saw a vid with some pic of this thing, but i thoughed it was a ipod nano with a photoshoped wheel. :D

  • Thanks for the tips. i just completed changing the battery on my mini ipod.

  • where do u get the garage band vids from, there was one i was trying to find?

    Nice vid btw! :p

  • No, I would certainly say it's not worth it. Especialy since the IPod comes with just about the best battery of them all, and most of the people destroying the plastic on their devices will come to find that it's not even the battery that's been fried out. Fifty versus one fifty. I'll take the common sense route and opt to NOT, bake my disposable electronics with the hair dryer. Thanks but. Nah.

  • @FailureIsFortune

If your device is working but the battery lasts like an hour, you KNOW where the problem is.

  • @FailureIsFortune you just cant do it bitch.

  • can you buy these at stores? (the batteries)

  • doesnt look like its worth it

  • fuckface

  • where do you get the replacement battery?

  • NICE MUSIC!!!!!! thats the best!!!

  • you have no taste

but then again dependes who you are

  • fucking apple bastards!!!!!!!! Nice vid btw thankyou

  • 1:24 why are u doing that?

  • He's heating the glue thats holding the platic top soo it pops out easy:D

  • ive had mine for 5 years and its still working good. but im getting a ipod touch tomorrow so its retiring

  • my ipod touch that i've had for 1/12 years is fucking dead

  • you should get an ipod touch. i just got one after having my ipod mini for awhile. the touch is awsome.

  • i have an ipod touch..... it's dead.....

  • That is bigger than my cellphone!

  • video is way too long. no need for pointless intro. could have cut over 5 or 7 minutes out of this video. a lesson for next time?

  • shut up

  • is this still on sale? i never see it in any catalogues

  • Ok.

  • im so pissed i threw my mini away like a year ago!!!

  • I bought one in ebay for 6 dollars and it worked for one day. Then, a shit.

I just put the old one even it lasts one hour.

    :(

  • i just opened up my ipod mini, put in a new replacement battery, and now the ipod is permeanently on lock even when I switch the button back and forth. What did i do?

  • I fixed my ipod in no time thanks saves me buying a new one.

  • how long does the battery last???

how much is a ip0d mini battery co$t???

  • i bought one for 10 dollars on ebay

  • No need for the hairdryer really, not sure why it took you nealry 9 minutes (or more cos of editing) to do this took me all of 5 minutes. Might put my own video post on.

  • I think I'd skip the hair dryer ....... it can't be good for it to heat it up like that.

  • i don't know why, but the music sounds like something from monsters inc.

  • ah good, just replaced my ipods minis battery, and it works great now! though i hate how the Batterys only last 2-4 years or somthing I dont remeber before they stop holding their charges but I'll worry about it when the new battery dies (or probably have a new ipod thats sorta like the mini... if apple gives up on touch screens wich they wont untill people realise its not that amazing)

  • Like Borat said "Everyone knows i Pod mini's are for, Girls."

  • Nice ONE

I need to do just THAT to my iPod soon... Looks like the hairdryer bit can take a bit of time...?!?!

  • Haven't used my Mini in about two years. I plugged it into my computer, and the "Low Battery" picture came on. Then, after a couple minutes, the "Apple" logo came on. Then, the screen just went blank. Still blank. New battery time? Please help thanks!

  • haha the kid just sticks his hand in

  • hi,my mini wont turn on or charge,my mate said to plug it in to my comp for 30 mins then it should turn on but it hasnt so does it need a new battery?

  • then u have to charge it again

  • ipod minis r good ipod the part that sucks is that u can only listen to them for like 2 hours and 50 minutes

  • I bought an ipod mini at a flea market and the guy was generous enough to give me a battery charger with it.

  • where can i get a new battery and how much do they cost???

  • Go up to eBay. I just did this procedure this afternoon. The battery cost me about $6.50 shipped with the two screwdrivers. Took 10 minutes having never done it before.

  • Nice tutorial. =)

  • i think the dryer wazz for the glue to get dull for it to come out faster

  • why did you use a hair drer for?! do you have to? oh and where can i find a ipod mini battery??? :)

  • i would guess you use the hairdryer to melt away some type of adhesive holding it together

  • yah it has a really cheap adhesive holding the white thingies on and the hai drier just makes it..less sticky

  • and while you're at it you can get rid of the heavy hard drive and instead put a flash card for either longer life, more memory, or if the hard drive is to heavy

  • Ahhhhh my ears hurt!! (Must have been that terrible music).

  • it wasnt that bad

    he didnt play any rap

id vote for him just for not playing rap

  • the kid was really funny!

  • Best tool for this is the BOJO ATH-4, it's the one copied by Ipod Juice. Bojo tool is much stronger and wider than the pathetic little pry tools often shown and is made in the USA.

  • It's made in the USA? It must be good then...

  • does it have more battery life with the replacement battery?

  • Somebody needs to learn how to setup a proper camera angle and how to edit video.

  • the music is from sound track pro... X)

  • Simpler - Garageband by Apple

  • how can i get thi9s battery....

  • Comment removed

  • i have and ipod mini and the battery is dead so were can i get this battery...

    thanke

  • try ebay.. like me xD

  • awesome! thank you so much. it was this or another brand mp3 player as i have no motivation to put any more money in apple's pockets after this consumer ripoff of a original battery. i'm just sorry i missed the delays for participating in a class action lawsuit. apple can go suck canal water.

  • im with wasemwasem's comment

  • where can i but one of thees abtteries

  • ebay £5

  • hah thankx actaully as soon as i finsihed watching this vidoe, i looked it up on ebay. it came fast and installation was succesful

  • minis are soo much better and thicker thats what i love about them ihate all that new shit comin out like ipod touch and that new nano video they all suck

  • I love the hick music

  • is the ipod nano and the ipod mini the same thing ?

  • no, mini was REPLACED by nano-- as in no more mini in this present time.

  • Hi would you please be able to tell me what make the battery kit was because i would like to buy the one with the tools, Thanks.

  • I should be trying this tomrow. I had a third gen 30 gig but it wont sync via fire wire or usb. So I'm getting a mini from him tomrow.

  • Hi would you please be able to tell me what make the battery kit was because i carnt find any on ebay with the plastic tool, Thanks.

  • Thats exaclty what kept happening to mine and i had it less than a year, but i couldn't be bothered to get it fixed so i just got a sony mp3 walkman which is much better. but anyway how much was that battery???

  • atleast you had yours for almost a year

I'm so retarded, I cracked mine's screen the third day

  • Well technically yours was still working but your screen was just cracked, but with mine i couldn't even get past the first song.

  • well mine didn't play songs, though it would play this green day music video that came with it so atleast i had 1 song

  • wtf??? what do u mean it didn't play songs u had a mini ipod right?? or it was just broke so it wouldn't play?? are we talking about the same thing??

  • well mine's screen broke

and since I knew it so well I could navigate it blindfolded I navigated to the music section and nothing would play

  • Another way to take the white parts off without damaging the beautiful casing (:P) is to use a hot glue gun on the top white part (NOWHERE ELSE) putting a small steel rod, or something that will last a good tug and give you grip, then letting the glue dry.

  • how much does the replacement batt cost??

  • That was really easy - thanks

  • how long do you use the hair dryer for?

    what tools do you use?

I cant seem to make it ease to get the top white thing off, what you be able to reply and give some help.

    thankyou.

  • that looks so much like a ipod nano 2 gen.

  • omg i love it when ur kid get the top thingy its soo cute@!

  • oh my god, thank you.

  • why did u use the conair thing?

  • To loosen up the glue.

  • Hi--I really enjoyed your video (informative and fun!). But what really caught my attention was the first piano tune, an arrangement of "I've Never Been in Love Before". Could you tell me who the artist is--I'd like to get some more of their recordings!

  • isnt this called a nano?

  • This iPod is pre-nano

    A 4GB iPod mini

  • ahh, that makes sence.. I'm still n00bish on em.. :)

    thanks

  • god I had a mini that was nearly dead I gave it to a mate though, wish I didn't now

    good video mate

  • haha, tha top of my ipod mini popped off by accident... no hassle for me =]

  • love the bagpipes

  • I thought Apple invented iPod shuffle, iPod nano and iPod video, but didn't know that iPod mini does exist too.

  • How can you know that you have a battery problem instead of hardisk problem

    Thanks

  • It worked if I had it plugged in. I could sync music and even play it as long as it was plugged into the computer or as you can see at the end I have the Apple iPod Power adapter.

When I unplugged it I could listen for about 5-8 minutes.

  • This is why I use MP3 players that require 1 AA battery, 5 secs to swap them out and no worrying about charging if I don't want to, look into it! 8)

  • But you have to put up with that funky navigation of your music. EVERYDAY!

    Ugh!

  • You say tomato, I say toma-uto.

  • You say Tomaato, I say Tomauto. ;)

  • i dont have an i pod y did i watch this

  • this is not apple sanctioned; you will void your warranty if you do this yourself

  • Like any iPod Mini is still under warranty.

  • yup..they are like 3 years old! lol

  • fantastic

    :D

  • Thank you.

  • what was the point of the blow dryer? to soften? to dry?

  • The blow dryer is to soften the glue that holds the white plastic in place.

You reheat the same glue when you put it back together. Take care to not over heat to the point of melting the plastic.

  • thnx lepower i almost thought that u couldnt replace a battery in pod mini n was abt to but an ipod nana

  • is there batteries for the ipod shuffle 2nd gen or am I going to need to bring it to an apple store?

  • Not that I am aware of .... yet. They usually show up after the 1 - 2 year AppleCare support runs out.

  • how do u get the metal bit off the end???thanks

  • Thanks man! This video helped me through the battery replacement!

  • does antone know where to get a replacement battery for the ipod mini???

    pleaz respond!!!

  • you can buy then on ebay for next to nothing!

  • Now you can, but I already owned it and the battery was only 30 buck. Almost like next-to-nothing eh?

  • i need someone to replace mine asap

  • this was so helpful, thanks

  • I love the little hands venturing in to be helpfull nice touch. I'll be attempting the same thing shortly. your video will prove highly usefull. Thanks for taking the time and making the effort.

  • That's my boy! :)

  • got the same problem again

  • lol i just threw mine against my bed and the top came off lol so much easier

  • would this work for a i pod nano 2nd gen ?

  • yes it would but the nano 2nd gen is so small and tricky i wudnt try to do it urself u might break the membrain wires

  • Thank you. Very helpfull in replacing the battery. It took a lot of time to get out the the metal thing on bottom.

  • We've found that a simple mini flathead screwdriver works best for prying out the metal clip at the bottom of the iPod mini, just be careful not to nick the Molex plug or your ScrollWheel won't like it.

  • helpful clip. Thanks again.

  • sweet i may revive my ipod mini, the best mp3 ive ever had. i even prefer it over the nano. anyways, what battery kit did you use, could you post a link. as ive never seen the blue tool before, and the majority of battery kits come with basic flathead screwdrivers, and i dont want to damage my beloved.

  • Thanks a ton man! MY dad saw me brosing this stuff because I need to replace the battery on my 5th Gen, and then he asked me to do this for his Mini. For all of the people asking, it really is worth it considering all of the songs that you might have on your beloved Ipod.

  • Those blue things are a real pain, too flexible, I'd recommend to anyone considering doing this to use a knife instead.

  • I found that the blue plastic things were a little flimsy but they did the job. A stronger plastic tool would still be advisable over a metal tool as it could damage the iPod.

  • hi i was woundering do you have 1 for a video ipod

  • need an battery replacement instructor for an IPOD NANO (1st gen) thanks!!!

    but great work !!!

  • ok i`ll try this too thanks

  • did you had to practise or was this your first time ?

  • First time.

  • very very helpful, many thanks LePower, spot on!!

  • was it worth puttin a new battery in ur ipod. Because im thinkin of doin it to my ipod. Did u have to be very carefull wen doin this not to brake any cables.

  • Not all that careful and for the price is was well worth replacing the battery to revive the mini. I use it daily. Right now and the battery is holding a GREAT charge.

  • can u plz explain the point of the dryer

  • Slowly heating the plastic ends warms the glue that holds them in place.

It becomes gummy, re-heat the glue and attach at the end. No need for any additional glue. An basic but essential step.

  • Glad this worked for you, but we've found that you can safely pry the end caps off with a sharp plastic tool (we have the iOpener) and you avoid the risk of cracking the LCD from the heat if you get too close/run the blowdryer too long.

  • Very cool:D!!!

  • thank you, I'm blow drying the bottom side as i type. that is the most useful thing i ever seen in the tube

  • Hey I've had my Ipod mini for about 1 year and a half now...how long is it suppose to last...and how long did that battery replacement really take

by the way...was your data erased when replacing the battery

  • They are to last about 1000 charge cycles. Full charge to 0 to full charge = 1 cycle, your milage may vary :)
