ROFLMAO! Didn't recall that as a kid, clearly because I didn't understand it. Never see that kind of *wink* adult humor in modern day Sesame Street, *sigh*
Speaking of Elmo's world.. Elmo needs to be hurt more often, as if he was been created to be immune to injury. NOTHING BAD EVER HAPPENS TO HIM!! Every other puppet from Sesame Street has been injured in some form or another. If Elmo got hurt more often or was in more 'dangerous'situations with the risks explained by adults... people could tolerate Elmo's existence.
i saw this twice in the 90's and i was wondering if i ever would see it gain since the lyrics did stick with me but i just couldn't remember the song, sure brings back memories
This was my favorite SS song back in the day. Great song and great message. Miss the days when kids programs actually taught kids something. This song actually reminds me a lot of Blue Oyster Cult's 'Burning for You'. Perhaps the writer of this song was a fan of theirs.
I loved this song as a kid but the part where that girl is holding onto the piano for dear life only to fall to her death. (And ya know she def. died) disturbed the crap out of me as a kid.
Today this was totally innaproppriate... to show this to young children... with the bombs and smoke... but it sure teaches you a lesson.... ahhh the beautiful simplicity of the world before things changed....
its not supposed to be sad its supposed to be educational and warn people about danger and reading the sign to know what it means its not scary or sad its cool
OMG!!! I have been looking for this video for the last 5 years. I was like 6 when i remember first hearing it and I still remember it now. I'm 29. The nostalgic hammer hits me again!!! Thank you to Sesame Street for bringing me back!!
bring back old sesame street, please! i grew up on SS (mid-to-late '80s/early '90s, so i saw the oldies<3!) & feel that i learned to love pop-culture, comedy, & reading because of it!
i am a daycare teacher & show this stuff to my 1-year-olds through youtube & they love it! :D no need to dumb-down tv for little ones; don*t underestimate how smart they are & how fast they catch on to things.
make childrens' TV enjoyable for children AND the adults watching with them! :)
One of the COOLEST things Sesame Street ever did! I first saw this as a teen in the 80s and thought it was awesome. I THOUGHT I had outgrown SS but this basically made me into a renewed fan. That is until Elmo's World came along and the show went down the tubes. They NEVER show classics like this on the Street anymore! Old School Sesame Street Rules! Death To Elmo's World! Some say SS was past its best by the 80s. They've obviously never seen this LOL
This is one of the few children's songs I can actually picture hearing on the radio. The song sounds like something a professional music artist would sing.
Reminds me alot of "Dangerous Games" by the 80s melodic rock band Alcatrazz. Hell, the muppet lead singer sounds alot like Graham Bonnett, the lead singer of Alcatrazz.
out of all the first what 8 comments it takes the 9th here to get it right this is more of an 80's pop music more than anythign rock and alternative ??? lol u must be joking...last time i checked emo kids didnt sound like this and im pretty sure GnR dont sound like this neither does rolling stones lol so ur fucking up...
Technically this kind of pop music is a mixture between rock and alternative. Either way the point is this was excellent in my childhood days and it is excellent to see it again.
So who are you agreeing with on what type of music it is? In my opinion this is not pop and defiantly not rap. It sounds more like a mix between rock and alternative to me. Check out the Wet Paint on and you will see what I mean.
Truly you are unversed in 80s rock and roll. Most of what is accepted these days as rock is crap, especially emo. You're right, GNR don't fit this category and neither do the Rolling Stones, because they're not melodic rock. To see what I'm talking about, you need to check out bands like post-Dio-era Rainbow, Alcatrazz, Joe Lynn Turner, Axe, Statetrooper, Whitesnake, Survivor, and Asia, to name a few.
Wow this one used to scare me as a kid--the thing that sticks out most in my mind is those three lampposts in the middle of the screen. I always thought they were windows with glowing fire in them. The end of Wet Paint also used to scare me--when the screen would melt. o_o
Oh wow, I can still remember seeing this clip at my grandparents' house. The song has been stuck in my head for YEARS, and I still love it. And BOY did I know to stay away from signs with "Danger" written on them!
It's good to teach kids not to walk under the piano but don't you think they sort of undermind that lesson with the kid who's riding it? That part used to scare me when I was little but other than that I used to love this clip! And I totally agreee with the person who said they need to play this on the show again.
This skit seems up-to-date enough to re-air it as it is, that is, compared to the Little Jerry "Danger" song. But they would probably not air it until an episode centering about safety or something comes up (such as crossing the street without trouble, or a car accident episode, or the gang rides on a train, etc.)
This scared the bejesus out of me when I was a kid. Thing is, I love it now. The synth drums are indeed awesome. They don't make SS like they used to! :D
thats so very true! lol i remember when i was a kid me and my grandmother used to watch this an we loved it so much! then.. when the new ones came out, its was like O_o..not the same
Yeah, I think I was kinda bothered by that boy on the piano scene. But today, the song's so awesome. Plus it did teach me to stay away from power transformers with "DANGER HIGH VOLTAGE" signs on them when I was a kid.
isnt rap music????isnt anything that has rhythm music ??? for that matter but besides the point, why r u guys questioning a childrens television show? is this a question u couldnt solve as a kid so now ur all grown up and big enough to type random stuff but yet ur still puzzling over the same things...(sounds like the average human beings life myself included)
