I need help with my Freeagent Go 500GB portable Hard Drive.

I can't access the data that I have had on it.

My computer is telling me to reformat my Seagate 500GB Freeagent Hard Drive.

The drive icon shows up in My Computer or Computer and in Computer Management as active/online.

What could be the problem with it?

Could it be the registry or firmware?

I had an old Nec computer when one day the hard drive stopped booting at (Windows check). I've since bought a new computer, and am giving the hard drive one last try. I've bought an external USB hard drive enclosure (Groovy by Timely,2.5 HDD case).

The light on the external drive case is now flashing green in quick succession, which

tells me it is plugged in properly,then I hear noise reading indicating the drive is functioning.but cant find it anywhre even to my cp windows

This may or may not help. "Strictly for PC users not MAC. On the START Button look up for "My Computer" and Right-click it, showing the options. Select properties and a new window should pop up. For Vista, on the top left corner of the window it should read "Device Manager"; select it. On XP, the steps- - - - - continued on next comment due to character limits. :-)
