  • The new goalpost have quick release handels that the workers use to take down the goal posts when the fans come on the field. I saw them i was at the Kentucky vs. Gamecocks when they beat them for the first time in ten years this weekend and the fans stormed the field...Go Wildcats

  • I disagree with what she said about vandalizing your own field. I've never done that, but I wish I could. We take our college football very seriously down in the south, and, while yes, it DOES pose a problem having to replant the goalposts, I think it's more of a celebration and people shouldn't worry about it.

    TEAR 'EM DOWN!

Oh, and congrats to KY in that video. I don't like Georgia.

  • Maybe it is just me but what the heck were you doing in the middle of those violating the rules? Perhaps when people are in a mob-like group it is best to move away instead of trying to get to the middle.

  • This was something routine and acceptable until about 1990, now if you do this the police come at you on horseback with clubs swinging. Trying to control people so tightly only leads to them becoming more destructive and violent.

  • I saw a game where they tore down the goal post and crushed some poor kid. Those things are heavy. Not a very sensible thing to do...

  • shite.Scotland done it in the 60s when we beat england at wembley.

  • It's what we call 'hooligans'/

  • moron can't enjoy a good show after a good show...

  • And what is this about "you'd never get this behaviour in England"? Oh no, English fans are never out of control are they? That's funny. I believe hooliganism started in England. At least Kentucky fans have never been BANNED FROM ENTERING A COUNTRY because of hooligan behavior (English football fans were banned from entering Turkey in the leadup to Euro 2004).

  • why the hell not

  • Spirals, we are (repeat, are) talking about the jayhawks here...i mean come on.

  • lame commentary you hippy liberial...

  • took the words outta mah mouth

  • If youve got the mentality to play the stupid game....

  • at KU we have carried the field goal multiple times to downtown Lawrence and also thrown it in Potter Lake on campus. this video pales in comparison.

  • If it is a tradition it is a very primitive and senseless one...

How is it honorable to act like wild monkeys after celebrating a sporting event? It is ironic since sports was an activity created by man to show their dominance over a contender in a less primitive manner than that of animals.

  • much ado about nothing

  • wot aboot scotland england 1977 thats proper goalpost tomfoolery

  • aboot! hahahaha you even sound scottish in text! I agree with you though, this is obviously staged, fake goalpost tomfoolery.

  • testosterone at its finest

  • wow good times

  • What kind of celebration this calls for is all relevant. This was a big game for us, it WAS our homecoming, it was against last year's SEC champs, a team we've only beat 11 times out of 60, and it pretty much ensures a winning season and a bowl bid (something that's very rare for a this program stuck in the best conference in collge football). Things are different in basketball. You'll never see us rush the court there because we expect victory. Not so much in football... it's all relevant.

  • See? Now, this is exactly why I dont watch sports, there are idiots and hooligans in every sport. What's the point in tearing up the place, breaking through fences and such? For what?

  • get a life, girl

the goalpost probably just drops back in the hole afterwards anyway

  • only in the sec!!! you will never see that happen at an acc game, ever. the last one was proably in the late 90's. you try that shit at doak campbell and youll get shot by a state trooper before you know it! no joke!

  • UofL is better anyways. BCS BCS!!!

  • when UT beat Florida a few years back, they tore down the goal posts and carried them down the street

  • its called having a good time

    its what they do

people who arent part of it need to shut up and let it be

  • To think UK fans got this excited over this win. Georgia isn't that good this year. No matter what Louisville is still the better school in football. UL headed to BCS game--maybe?? The best UK can hope for is Nashville and the Music City Bowl. Go Cards!!

  • what a stiff

  • These schools make a ton of money from their quasi-professional . . . er, NCAA-sanctioned amateur sports programs. They wouldn't make squat if the fans didn't care because there would be no revenue stream. DUH.

    Goalposts are cheap.

  • Being from Kentuckian I realize what a huge win this was. Beating Georgia wasn't easy and they were even expecting a loss. They had reason to tear down the post.

  • KENTUCKY WILDCATS BABY!!!

  • Women shouldn't be allowed to comment about sports. MANLAW... Every college does this, it's called football tradation lady.

  • Wow, have more pride in your school and dont vandalize it.

  • you should have been there when UK won the national basketball championship a few years ago. now that was a celebration

  • a win over a crappy opponent doesn't call for this kind of celebration.

  • who gives a shit, they teared down the goal post. I don't watch football but this is awesome! If only we had that kinda spirit at the UW..

  • like GoNaruto1 said, they're just celebrating, letting their emotions go, its no like they're doing illegal stuff or doing grafitti.

  • Tearing down the goalposts IS vandalism. The last time I checked, vandalism was illegal.

  • they ARE doing illegal stuff. that is the SCHOOL PROPERTY. you can't just go to your college and tear apart SCHOOL PROPERTY. that is defined as vandalism, a.k.a. breaking the law.

  • see how much the human animal craves real violence, bring back the colleseum, enough of this ball-sport bs

  • not a bad idea....

  • ahaha timechech thats why they shutdown your football league when your own fans killed themselves by demolishing the stadium

  • GoNaruto, tearing down public propery is vandalism, and I don't think that was a highschool homecoming football game.

  • Obviously, you have never watched a football game where the underdog wins the game.

  • No it was a "college" football homecoming. And there is no way to prosecute all he people involved so "tearing down" the goal posts after a big win will always happen. Colleges have gone so far as to put in break away goal posts so they can put them back up after retreiving it from wherever the students take it... usually a body of water somewhere on campus... lol.

  • you people are a bunch of friggin morons.

  • WOW

  • This chick obviously doesn't know anything about college football or UK. "Nothing says 'We beat Georgia' like vandalizing your own field?" That's what every upstart program does when they win in an upset, sweetheart.

As for you Brits, you've got a whole lot of room to talk. At least nobody gets hurt or dies in our celebrations.

  • Boo Hoo. If you can't take it in the SEC stay off the damn field. I'm a DAWG fan through and through. I remember when we beat UT a while back and the goal post ended up downtown on College Ave. UGA is back next year!! Oh and chick... if you can't handle real football, stay out of the SEC!

  • always wanted to do that at a game. never had the chance tho.

  • Yeah There fans of football, but not fans of the goalpost.

  • i agree with zapmeister: silly SEC people, especially UK. just let them have their fun and tear down their goal posts - they should celebrate when they should, they don't get to do it very often. when they do get a win, it's a big deal.. although most school don't realize this, 'cause they don't know what it's like to suck THAT bad.

learn from the big east -- we do it deadly. you've got the big red 80 miles away, can't you get a few pointers from them? that's right, go cards!! :)

  • AWESOME dude!

  • That game was huge, probably the biggest for Kentucky at Commonwealth Stadium in ten years. That game was the first time that UK had beaten of the big 3 in the East Division of the SEC in several years. It also pretty much clinched a bowl game for Kentucky for the first time since Tim Couch left. UK fans have went through a lot of heartbreak over the last six years.

  • lol @ the last comment

  • Yo, people, chill. This is a celebration there, its not illegal, or vandalism, its a celebration they have after winning their homecoming. It's not like a riot, take it from someone whose friend was watching from the stands XD.

  • Actually, I'd say yes it is vandalism, and yes, it is illegal. How else can you define destroying property? And then people have the nerve to bitch about the high cost of tuition. Who do you think paid to repair that damage? I'm all for rushing the field in celebration, but there's no need to get stupid like this. It's only a game, for God's sake. It's not like WWII just ended.

  • so when i come and tear down your property out of celibration, it would be fine? yippee!!

  • Hey, now... We (Baylor) tore down the goalposts when we beat A&M in 2004. And with good reason... it hasn't happened since :(

  • Where have you people been? this is a common tradition at all colleges, we tear dont the goal posts is it so hard understand? We don't have to analyze the rationale behind every action.

  • have u ever heard the story of the fans who took the goalposts out of foxboro stadium who got electocuted and died

  • If it is a tradition it is a very primitive and senseless one...

How is it honorable to act like wild monkeys after celebrating a sporting event? It is ironic since sports was an activity created by man to show their dominance over a contender in a less primitive manner than that of animals.

  • The commentator's way too sensible.

  • its about pride.... and at uk we have a lot of it ...and we rarely win a football game

  • lol football fans are stupid.

  • Stupid yanks. You'd never get this kind of behaviour in Engalnd.

  • Really? I guess English hooligans just dance around?

  • you dont know what NCAA Football is like here

  • Are you serious? Hooligans have killed dozens of people. Wasn't England banned from international play for several years after the Liverpool v. Juventus match around 1986 when several spectators died.

  • ....2 words...Manchester United...

  • LMAO, you're kidding, right? Don't you guys have soccer riots on a weekly basis?

  • lol....ahh English Football hoologans at EVERY WORLD CUP!

  • yeah, only soccer hooligans

  • What's the deal? Don't they make tear gas anymore?

  • you have to look at it this way WE SUCK so bad this was the biggest win in Kentucky football in like 20yrs but have to be honest the Bulldogs are down this year and knowin how kentucky football is we'll get beat by Vandy this comin weekend

  • you're an idiot. UK will OWN vandy.

  • You should come in greece to see what's happening in our football matches.

  • Try going to Holland. Ajax and Feyenoord fans kill each other.

  • why do soccer people comment on our shit

  • Hopefully, this is a sign that Kentucky Football is going uphill. I know that basketball is king at Kentucky, but hey, it is at Louisville, too, and they are currently #3 in the country. Hey, I hope that Louisville's success has Kentucky burning inside and they can use it as a motivation to put more time and effort into their football program. I would love to see great rivalry between these two schools in football. Who agrees?

  • all that means is that the students have to pay more in tuition as they keep breakin stuff.

  • Georgia sucks this year making their whole goal post thing kinda pathetic.

  • lol...brilliant... what says "yay we beat georgia!" more than vandalizing your own field?

  • Honestly, it was the fact that we actually won that was such a big deal. For once, UK has a winning season. We actually WON our homecoming game. I was on the field for media purposes, and I'm not going to lie, it was probably the most exciting thing I've ever been to.

  • I say, I say, I say, what in tarnations is you doing here boy. Kentucky Fried Chicken. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm it's good.

  • Were they ALL high on meth? Why would they destroy their own field? Damn animals

  • its a college thing....a lot of schools rush the field after a huge win and tear down the goalposts. It's why Clemson replaced theirs with goalposts that lower themselves after games so nobody can steal them.

  • must've been their first win.

  • lol, like stealing your own car

  • omg, idiots

  • it is a nice reminder of demolishing the football stadium in Utrecht (Holland)in the eighties..I don t think ther is any videofootage but they almost managed to break it of to the ground ....maybe dutch tv has somthing in their archives i dont know I surely hope so..

  • commentator is a bit lousy, reminds me of the scottish beating england at PROPER football,(not handball that you daft yanks play).. when the scottish were also hanging of the goalposts after a great victory! fair play..

  • That's not a commentator.

  • ure not #1, this isnt a rivalry game, ure school doesn't matter...dont be idiots

  • It was a landmark win for them. You don't have to be an ass about it.

    GO UK, UGA SUCKS!

  • GO DAWGS!!!!

  • hey now

  • Brilliant
