  • You can see that the client relaxes after she empathised with his uncomfortableness (1:35). She picks up his underlying condition of working things out by himself and shows that she can see that counselling must be an unusual way for him (2:00) and so forth. Highlighting the clients values instantly lead to letting go and he opened up (5:33). He felt much safer by then.

  • Actually a fantastic respectfully way to pick up what the client presents, i.e. to respond to his uncomfortable feelings towards self disclosure. I like her way of empathising in terms of being a role-model to talk about inner processes.

  • I'm about to undertake my 4th and final year in qualifying to be a PC counsellor. I feel the counsellor talks too much, too much summarising and there are too many inappropriate questions...who are the answers for ? The client exploring or inquisitiveness of the counsellor! Interesting to watch non the less. Thank you
