Poor Bastards. For the haters: Yes we all know they are soldiers, and we all know that they accept the risks of war, but nobody deserves to have this happen to them. Good see there are people out there willing to help them out.
Great video, thanks for sharing. In my personal experience, nothing makes people more happy than helping out at charity places like this. It's so incredibly rewarding and keeps you grounded, reminding you what really matters and how lucky you are. The people are often kind, courageous and inspirational. A lot of people with disabilities like this who are looked after at centers get hardly any visitors and love having people to talk to, it wouldn't be hard for you to make their day.

I can't believe how many of my friends keep complaining about everything that happen to them. Like if being rejected by a guy was a good reason to commit suicide, geez. What's wrong with young girls these days.
anyway, I wish I was like these guys, they don't give up and keep going as if nothing happened. Have a nice day.
@AmilGaoul27 That's the idea of this video. To show you how productive and outgoing these dudes can be, after going through such a tough thing! Thanks for watching!
Martin Luther King Jr. Preaches Against Aggressive Wars according to the Bible (same as Ron Paul's Policy) /watch?v=AeME7Q6Oaj0
"There's nothing wrong with being a conservative and coming up with a conservative belief in foreign policy where we have a strong national defense and we don't go to war so carelessly. ... Legitimate use of violence can only be that which is required in self-defense."-Ron Paul
If Bill O'Reilly really cared about Wounded Warriors, he'd support Ron Paul for President!
I'm going to get so much hate for this comment. But I'm saying, this is what war does to people guys, it screws them up and spits them out, and sends them back to their country for the people back home to try to put back together.
No politician or council should have the power to tell people to go to war, its a massive scale of carnage which they never have to personally deal with.
@kijbob - War has a terrible cost, which I believe is almost never justified, but in the all the mess we can still find stories and people that inspire us.
But I agree, people have got to stop killing other people.
@kijbob Hi! I agree 100% with what you say. War makes young men have to go somewhere and maim and kill people, children and Mothers included, many animals too. Arable land, water gets poisoned ... all is too awful to describe. The many young men and the women who have to do this get often maimed, and/or die and all victims of war that have survived war, their families and friends, are deeply traumatized for life. How can it be that war is so called legal? It is illegal and barbarous, always!!
I love the stories of Joey and Chuck. Even though they're physically disabled, they don't wanna be guys who just sit around doing nothing. They still wanna do something in life and go forward.
Most of us take our body and good health for granted, it's not something you really think about most of the time... ears to hear the sound of laughter, eyes to watch a beautiful sunset, legs to walk, a voice to sing, arms to hug a loved one, and a body free of illness and pain.
Watching this and the videos that Christiaan's made while in hospital make me feel so blessed to have always enjoyed good health. It's not something I ever want to take for granted again.
@monkeys6889 I will help in any way I can.... as long as you're willing to accept help from a grateful transvestite video producer who loves America more than her own boobs!! I got balls baby and I'm not afraid of Bin Laden!!
I've a friend who had both legs amputated, and he still plays sports and stuff. I think it's awesome that some people choose not to let this stuff get them down! Kudos to Rob Rosser for doing this!

@vjm1234 Yeah, it's the best way to travel, taking yourself out of the comfort of your planned journey, and throwing yourself into some different experiences. Im glad I had the pleasure of meeting these blokes.
Amazing. Theres 3 parts to this vid. 1st, the coaches and ppl who have created this outlet for these Wounded Warriors (WW). I have my own personal issues and sumtimes feel life is going nowhere...imagine these guys who have lost parts of their body, how they must need something to give them joy and motivation in life. Secondly, the WW themselves...their stories are humbling. My eyes are watering. And Finally, the V V Bro's, for being willing to take the road less travelled on a holiday. Thanks.
@SubzeroZebra I love it so much when I'm overseas, or somewhere away from home and I get the opportunity to have an experience that I'd never otherwise be able to... I'm stoked that I ran into Rob in the pub that night! He's a top bloke.
I think the most important thing about them being soldiers isn't the hero part, but the fact that they've served their country and then have been left alone by same country because of their injuries. I think it's good that there's help and motivation for those guys.
@bloodymalkavian Yeah that's a really good point mate. It is nice to see that these kind of programs are in place, and that this kind of support is being made available to these guys.
This is so inspirational. Here I am with a relatively healthy body (damn asthma!) and all I basically do all day is sit on my ass and play video games.
This really makes me feel lucky. After going through hell for 5 years, and finally getting a heart transplant, i'm able to do things now. I really feel for these guys, and what they are doing there to help them is great :)
@Karoger1987 I'm glad to hear that you were lucky enough to get your hands on a heart (so to speak) and that you received your transplant... I hope that all is going well for you!
Terrific film. They should try canoe/kayak for their summer activity, as that will be a Paralympic sport starting in 2016. Contact USACK.org for info. We had three veterans on the past two World Championship teams, one combat, the others non-battle injuries. Thanks so much for posting.
@debsmithpage Thanks for sharing! I look forward to watching it in 2016! Where do you guys train? If I happen to be in the states and somewhere near a training facility over summer, maybe I can come past with my video camera?
@ChristiaanVanVuuren They're all over the place now. One wounded warrior at Chula Vista Olympic Training Center near San Diego, and another in Oklahoma City. One non-battle injured veteran at Newport Aquatic Center, Newport CA, and another one in the Buffalo/Rochester NY area. Trials for World Championships team in Lake Placid NY 4th of Jul. Worlds in Szeged, Hungary 17-21 Aug. We've only just started--still very small racing community.
Wow Chuck's story... omg And Joey don't worry about not being able to find a girl. You will win some girls heart despite your disability your a sweetheart and your really cute ^.^

Ok, it's nice and all. But just the fact that they were soldiers doesn't add much value to their story imo. Where I come from, soldiers aren't hailed like heroes. We don't constantly see them on the news. No 'special stories'. It's just another job. So why should these guys get more attention then their civilian counterparts? And why biathlon? So the gunsounds can trigger PTSD? No hating here tho, it's wonderful what these guys do. I'm just sayin
@Lothomiras The fact that they were soldiers is interesting to me, not because of the hero factor, but because it shows what motivation/discipline the extra physical training has given them. They are natural athletes, and they are so highly motivated to maintain a certain level of physical performance, that they continue to do so, even when life goes as far as taking their limbs away... The other thing is, Chuck had his sight and legs taken away by a brain tumour, and Joey in a car accident.
@Lothomiras Important to note that these two particular blokes weren't hurt in combat injuries, they just happened to be in the army as US Marines when they were unfortunate enough to go through a brain tumour and car accident, so these two boys (Chuck and Joey) actually have a bit of an "anti-hero" self-deprication involved in their lives... They often feel that since they weren't wounded during combat, like a lot of their mates from the courses, that they are not as worthy...
Great video guys. That is an amazing program. That had to be an awesome experience for you. Talk about an inspiration to us all! And that includes you as well Christiaan with what you went through.

It's sickening that your rap videos get thousands more views than these videos.

The Van Vuuran Bros and Rob Rosser are probably the nicest guys in the world at the moment.

@sercout That's right! But when you are faced with that, you either make it easier, or power through the hard part!

Wow, this hit me really hard.. Do they have donations?
I want to give them some money and say thanks to them for doing something amazing for them.

@TheNickOswald If you look up Team Semper Fi online, or the National Ability Center, there are ways that you can donate. I'm sure either of these guys would love a donation of any kind.
