Essentially the 2003 series is preferred by those who prefer their series to be about romance and have pretty actors. This version is slightly more intellectual and more faithful to the novel.

This ending has its merits. ZZR lost the man she loved and her chance to dominate wulin. To have her become a nun is not necessary imo.

Zhao Man ruined her wedding so it is fair game for ZZR to at least make ZM worry. Wuji says that even if he cannot mary ZM, it will not stop him from being with her.

well I havent read the book yet but I believe that Zirou should repay for what she did...she shouldnt even show up in the end like this cause it will get all the viewer to guess the ending....the good things about all this series is that they all have different background to it..which I love it. Well everyones in here, they all get all the credit for their hard work..oh one things deng chao and alec su, they're both handsome on their own way.....

看过原著的看到这结局应该不会觉得突兀。。

Actually this ending is also good. I like the Ady An's version of Zhao Min but abit disappointed with Zhou Zi Rou. On the other hand, there are alot of comment saying that the actress that act as Zhou Zi Rou is not pretty. Actually I don't think so. If you go google and search for her photo, she is actually quite pretty. But maybe she don't suit 古装. Nevertheless, it's still a good show.

Xiao Long Nu was long since dead at this point. That Girl in yellow is likely a descendant of Yang Guo & XLN.

The 2003 series had its merits eg. the better looking and more charismatic actors. The effects in the new version is better but Wuji & Zi Ruo are pretty ugly. =x The bright peak fight sucked but the fight vs the monks at the end was probably the best.

I actually quite like this version in its own way. It gives a different flavor from the previous versions. People may prefer the other ending, but it's good to see this ending in an actual drama once in awhile. It's obvious production was short on money and time, but I think they did the best they could on the important scenes and you could see a lot of little details and heart they put in.

This series is proof that's sometimes it's not a good idea to follow the book exactly. The series has a lot of good point, and it impossible to spot them if you haven't read the book; as you are just confused by the plot lines.

As it's the ending her, it used the 2nd edition book (the most popular one) ending almost line for line. However, it's terrible ending for a tv series. Which is why most tv versions use 1st edition ending. Zhou becomes a nun, with Zhao and zhang happly everafter.
