I did an entire college term paper on wind power just by watching this video.......of course, I go to a community college so that might explain things a bit
Energy is not free. By sticking windmills up into the air stream we are creating drag against the earth thus slowing it down. Excessive use will eventually lead to the day becoming longer (25 or 26 hours) adding to the time we must work thus demanding more energy and trying to extract it from a diminishing source. Soon the earth comes to a stop and we go to war over who has the light side vs. who has the dark side.
@p0lyamorous he doesn't completely describe the generation system. You may remember from high school physics that when a magnet moves through a coil of wires, it induces electricity. This electricity is then carried through wires, and other electronic gear onto the electric grid. It is efficient because although there is substantial upfront cost to make a turbine, it is FAR cheaper than a coal power plant, and the wind inputs are practically infinite, and free.
This is a good video for learning the basics of wind energy. Wind energy converts kinetic energy into electrical energy. In the U.S. alone, wind power capacity has grown by a sizable average of 29% a year for the last five years. Pacific Crest Transformers has more on wind energy and the role of transformers.
okay ive always understood how they work to create power but someone should make a video explaining like how to figure out what you need to power your house or a tv and how it translates
