I've actually encountered a doe with an orange collar while hunting in Mecosta County, near Big Rapids. The property owner told me that it was part of a DNR tracking program. Not sure if this is the same thing as this one looks like it got tangled in ribbon.
@Scrap5000 "Man, I wish all deer had blaze orange ribbon on them; would sure make em a lot easier to hunt!! We could all switch to bright yellow for safety!"
Some owners of pet deer adorn them with orange so people like you won't shoot them. Painting antlers orange is common, but good luck doing that with a doe.
Anyhow, that you don't know this doesn't bode well for a pet deer and it's owner.
That is awesome!!!! At first I was worried that it might strangulate it as it grew, but then I saw your comment that it was back without it. Excellent video,
he looks like someones pet. hes really comfortable around you. we have a deer near my house that is the neighbors pet, they put an orange collar on her.
@Oreocremerocks Are you that retarded that you can not understand it? I hope they nibbled on the orange ribbons and inhaled them into their lungs and asphyxiated on your biodegradeable trash. And thats what you get for letting them go near a road they get hit by cars. I bet it was your fault it got hit by the car. You should have shipped them to China to feed to the tigers. you should check it out "feeding chickens to tigers" it lots of good fun.
@rockhound694u what probly happend is it was someones pet and they wanted to let it go in the wilderness but wanted there pet to comeback everynow and again so they put orange on it so nobody well take anyshots at it.
@huntinguy532 Are you that stupid that you can not read and understand what is going on here? Oh yea you are 19 and from cananda. how bout you give head to a 12 gauge and call me in the morning.
wow i have seen deer with orange on while hunting dident shoot but wondering how it got on him it was a nice buck but i follow the rules orange DONT SHOOT
We used to do that to the fawns we raised so they wouldn't get shot during hunting season. Well at first we painted them orange, but started worrying about them eating the paint when they groomed themselves, so we switched to a really light plastic marking tape that was biodegradeable, and usually was off by spring shedding.
@rockhound694u dumbass thats why we used a really light weight biodegradeable ribboning so it would break if it got caught on anything. You must be one of the dumbest mother fuckers in the world if you think we would do anything to cause harm to the animals we had spent months raisng, and healing, only to send them out into the woods to die because of stranglation. Think before you speak, or type in this case, you only make yourself look stupid.
@Oreocremerocks RETARD what I am saying is that because you are a retard tree hugging animal loving fuktard I really hope you killed some of them by putting the ribbons on them with the good intention of saving them but really you are a animal killer and made them suffer a painfull death from the ribbon and by indoing so all that bad karma will make you suffer.
@rockhound694u First of all I am not a tree hugger, secondly IT WAS MY JOB to rehabilitate orphaned animals that were brought to me by my state's Department of Wildlife Conservation. You are hopelessly stupid. You can't spell, you can't read either apparently. I clearly stated that the ribbon would break away EASILY if caught on anything. Out of the 38 fawns that I helped to rehab. ONLY 2 have died unnatural deaths, one by car, one by train.
@rockhound694u All the animals that were rehabilitated received chips for tracking purposes, so we know how the others died as well. I would try to explain how they were tracked, but I seriously doubt you could comprehend it. The reason the ribbons were placed in the first place is because it was a requirement of the Department at release of the animals.
@rockhound694u Again NONE have died as a result of the very light, easily breakable plastic ribbons on their necks. You want to talk bad Karma, I think you should educate yourself first because clearly you have no understanding of the beliefs of which it comes from. Please don't bother to reply unless you have A. actually read the replies, B. have something intelligent to say. C. Have actually taken the times to learn how wildlife rehabilitation actually works.
As a hunter would think twice about shooting a deer wearing orange.... especially if it came up to me all "domesticated". I would take it home ( alive) and call the wild like department to report a loose domestic deer. Even if it was a nice huge buck. If the owner came to claim in I would ask for the shed antlers though.....as a thank you.
my buddy has 1 hes raised seen it get to a 6 point rack . you couldnt feed or pet it but was very comfortable around people. after 6 point year was last year he was seen. he either got shot or went nocturnal like alot big bucks do.... hope he lived!!!! if i seen this i wouldnt shot it either.
some people who raise orphaned deer do that to try to ask hunters to not shoot them. we have one around us. the guy accrost the street who hunts raised it. He kills other deer just not that one.
I pretty sure PETA dose that so it will confuse the hunters the did that and it was a great success and all the bloody orange vest where returned to PETA in hope the do it again thanks he he he
I have a feeling something happened to the doe and someone looked after this fawn, then tied the orange around it so no one would shoot it. Stuff like this happens, ive heard of deer running around with scarfs and what not.
Well, unless it falls off soon, the poor little guy is screwed when he grows up...Unless some hunters take too long to figure out whether or not he's a deer, or some idiot in a deer costume.
that deer was luck that it didn't have barbed wire around it's neck....great vid....LOL
