GQ: Well, would you have this job if you were white?
Steele: "would I have this job if I were white? [long pause] The answer to that is I don"t know. I don"t know. That"s a very good question. And it says a lot about, I think, where the party is right now that I can"t answer it."
I agree that ' flipping the bird' is inappropriate language, but I don't know what the fuzz is about Steele accepting money for speaking engagements...politicians do that regularly...
...and, I would like to see the journalist address democrats calling people oposing their plans ' racist', ' nazis', or ' fascists', or even, calling peole going to the tea parties ' tea baggers' - things much worse than Steele's comment
I'm sure that if she was talking to a Democrat she WOULD mention it. She just wanted to see someone's view on their own party's ideas. Also he did mention that there has been talk on both sides of the aisle, though I grant that that isn't the same thing as her saying it.
IS IT TIME?! Go to USRevolution2 (dot com) and get your flag of the Second American Revolution. Theyre made in America and look exactly like the flag of Betsy Ross with a Roman numeral II in the center of the 13 stars. This flag is now in all 50 states and spreading from porch to porch. They make great gifts for family, friends and recovering Liberals.
Why it is that these people keep saying from both sides? There is not both sides, all the hate talk is coming from the Republican side only.
If I was Harry Reid I will heighten Security protection for all Democrats Senators after Senator Tom Coburn expresses his Prayers and Wishes that some Democratic Senator somehow get injured and misses the vote.
We know how that stuff works out with republicans, remember Scot Roider actions after Bill OReilly call for the Assassination of Doctor Tiller.
i hate how hosts try to make everything adversarial and interrupt their guests to go for short term ratings. they could learn a lesson in class from ron burgundy.
RNC Chairman Michael Steele interview with GQ.

Why doesn't she address that a Democrat on the floor called Barack Obama's opposition Nazis.
She's not a journalist. Period.

Judd Gregg is to be commended for showing some dignity, something that is quite rare in the GOP these days.

This is meaningless -- "flipping the bird" comments? It means nothing in the bigger scheme of things ...

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Steele is trying to extort money? No, he is being a very educated black, who is selling his talent and not being a welfare queen.

Wouldn't matter if he were white, or pokka dot green and orange.
The guy is nothing more than a clown when it comes to public policy.

The irony is, look at the reality, its the GOP that has consistently flipped off the vast majority of this nation for decades.
A question I'd pose: Can the electorate be trusted to make good decisions when we are fed non-stop crap from both sides?
When you have unapologetic demons like Frank Luntz, openly spouting on about their Goebbels techniques, can there be a democratic republic?
Seriously, GOP folk, do you think Thomas Jefferson would think Luntz is anything but a dirtbag?
