Which country? 911, the anthrax mailer, the Washington Sniper, and the shoebomber all happened on his watch. He cut birthday cake with McCain as New Orleans drowned, and bombings in London, Bali, and Madrid were directly linked to the invasion of Iraq. And speaking of Iraq, the number of American casualties THERE exceeds the number of casualties on 911, and that is not including the military contractors.
Slightly higher fuel prices are a small price to pay, as many would have cut consumption.

Thank You fellow Nader supporter! I to have no regrets voting for him, in fact I feel great, but also frightened, knowing I'm one of the very few Americans that understands what needs to be done. It's amazing how many still believe in this two-party system, the very fact he only got 0.56% of the popular vote tells us this viscous two-party cycle is still going strong. I guess being we are mostly a nation of idiots this should be no surprise. You, Val Kilmer and I get it, when will everyone else?
the problem with nader in this last election is that he didn't get to debate with the two parties and a lot of ppl didn't even know he was running. I am from MN and a lot of ppl were not even aware that he was on the ballot. Sad
We can all thank the Federal Elections Committee for that. The Elections Committee is almost like a supreme court, it has three republicans and three democrats, all of whom are voted in by a special congressional committee that consists of who? Democrats and republicans. lol They have made it so tough for a third party candidate to get ballot and debate access it's literally impossible for one to have a fighting chance in the generals. The two-party system is corrupt, period. MN native here to!
crazy really what i dread now is that the next election we'll probably end up with repulicans running things again. Damn i think i will move back to Hopi reservation then. NO i am not native just lived there for about 5 years for the fun of it.
I know, the thought of the republicans winning elections in 2010 and 2012 because the dems fudged everything up so bad is frightening but almost expected as this is the way the corrupt two-party system(vicious cycle) works. Hopi reservation, which village? I bet that was an interesting experience. I lived in southwestern Mexico for about 14 months long ago, nothing like the Hopi res I'm sure but definitely a different world compared to good old MN.
All crooks end up in the two parties, so even if an honest and good candidate does make it through the political mud enough to get into the primaries, they will eventually be defeated and sometimes humiliated by the most popular dem candidate because the party always votes in the person who they think will most serve them, not the people. The primary elections are more important than the general, yet not even half the number who vote in generals vote in primaries because of the way it's setup.
Geithner and Bernanke know exactly what they're doing. These guys are freakin Ivy League graduates. They aren't the problem. They're part of a corrupt system. Obama is not even the problem. He is part of a corrupt system. This is why it makes no difference who's in office, dem or rep, or who gets fired as a government official. Its just cutting off the tail of a lizard, the lizard will be fine, and a new tail will just grow right back in its place.
smart people can be corrupt but you have to realize some times you are either for or against, if obama is not for pushing healthcare, then he is against it, we didnt elect him president just so he could sit there and do nothing
Funny, the government rapes the people, and the only opposition to it are mainly the ignorant tea bagger. There is no such thing as liberty, as long as there is a right and wrong with dotted Is and crossed Ts, there will be oppression.
Here'e another small bit of news that the media swept under the rug.
Last week Obama announced he was lifting the debt ceiling of Fannie Mae. It's being estimated we the tax payers may end up covering anywhere between 400 to 600 Billion. And guess where this housing market criss started....Fannie Mae
He's not completely useless. He has changed the American image towards something a little more positive (after 8 damaging years of Bush). I am grateful for that. But everything he supposedly stood for.. is bull.
Money, in and of itself, is not evil. It's just a medium of exchange and is supposed to be a storage locker of sorts.
Barter is barbaric. You raise chickens for their eggs but what if nobody wants to trade you the sweater you need for your eggs? You're screwed.
You trade your skill to someone who needs it (employer) and they give you money in exchange. That money is your time/life in a different form. It should retain its worth over time otherwise your life is devalued.
Yeah, he's got a reputation for being anti-corporation, but whenever he's given a chance to oppose them, he cries "big government, we can't do that.".
So my question is, what WOULD he have done if he won presidency? Give them the same stern talking-tos as Obama?
No, under a ron paul presidency the bankers would have went bankrupt and the smaller banks would have come in and bought up their assets at market value.
Because the repubs/dems refuse to allow the liquidation of this bad debt we are only going to get a much worse result down the line as the middle and lower classes get milked.
Perhaps google for:
An Open Letter to my Friends on the Left
Also, google Ron Paul's statement about Fannie/Freddie. He called this economic debacle to a tee.
His voting records show him to be saying that's government going too far. Either he doesn't really believe that, or he thinks "no one can be anti-corporation but me."
But. Most large decisions the president makes have to be passed through the Senate and the House. Now think, all the health-care storm, this is what happens when you attack one of the politician's campaign contributors.
Imagine attacking one of the ones more intergrated with Washingon than health insurance. It's not feasible.
Im not sure you're grasping what I'm saying. The regulatory system IS one of the primary enablers of corporatism. Go read that
An Open Letter To My Friends on the Left
Also, the growing voice of the disenfranchised is only going to grow larger and larger because the repubs/dems are NOT going to stop raping us.
The govt, in and of itself, IS the problem. It has a monopoly on the use of legalized force that nobody else has. Corporations cant make you buy their products. Govt can.
Wrong. NONE of the bankers would have gotten a bailout, period. There is nothing wrong with being big business wise if it is through offering a good product at a good price. THAT is what free markets do. We've all been brainwashed into thinking the government is out to protect us from the corporations. It's not. Government is the primary enabler OF corporatism.
Want to regulate something.....regulate the government so that it isn't giving bailouts and subsidies to their buddies.
Ron Paul is just a man. However, the IDEAS he presents are what's important.
Google search for
The Philosophy of Liberty
The principle of individual liberty is what made this country great and why everyone immigrated here. That notion of Liberty has been lost through the last few decades. Now we've got one group claiming to protect civil liberties and another economic liberties.
Liberty is an indivisible whole and each facet of liberty should be protected.
You just used "liberty" 8 times in one post (counting libertarian). Are you familiar with the We the People Act? Or his stance on immigration, in which he wants to remove the 14th amendment? Or all of the Federal agencies that he would shut down (Dept. of Education is one)? Not to mention he's a creationist/religious zealot and anti-gay as well. I agree with him on most economic issues, but I don't think he has any interest in "liberty."
Yes, I am familiar with the We The People Act. Contrary to what many believe the Act is specifically designed to insure federal judges observe the Constitution's 10th Amendment, which assigns to the States any powers not specifically assigned to the federal government elsewhere in the Constitution.
Medical marijuana laws ring a bell? Without constraining the Fed we get what we have now. Top down, one size fits all crap that divide and conquers the populace into partisanship.
End the Dept. of Edu? Oh noez! We can't do that! All the kids would be retarded!!! ummmm the DoE is less than 30 years old and it's track record shows that it is an abysmal failure at best. Test scores have plummeted since its inception. Also, were all the children utter retards for the first nearly 200 years before the DoE? Hell no.
Quit aggressing against your fellow countrymen using the force of the state. That is the problem.
No one wants marijuana legalized more than me. Ron Paul doesn't support marijuana legalization, only federal deregulation. He's ok with individual states making it illegal. As I've already stated, I agree with him on economic matters, but I don't think all of his policies are sound, or even honest for that matter. Keep in mind he's still a politician.
If some of the people who are viewers of TYT are too stupid to realize this entire Administrations policy is to rip off the public and give it to the bankers, Can you imagine how stupid the average member of the public is on this issue? The American people are having their country destroyed and the only thing to blame is their own stupidity and ignorance.
what do you suggest we do about it? i mean the thing to do would be to elect someone who promises to radically change the system. oh wait, we did that!
warning2thewise: The solution is not difficult but people are too brainwashed to go along with it. Stop voting for either Democrats or Republicans. Both parties are completely owned by Corporatism. Start electing independent people who will follow and uphold the Constitution and Declaration of Independence. Take the country back 1 elected official at a time.
Bind the federal behemoth down with the chains of the Constitution.
Article 1 section 8 and nothing else is the Fed's domain. Leave the rest to the states to decide how they want to handle it as per the 10th amendment of the Constitution.
That allows for a free market of IDEAS. If Cali wants socialized medicine, legalized pot and gay marriage let them have it. If Georgia wants the exact opposite, let them have it. The states then compete with one another for population.
Don't be ignorant. Obama is WAYYY better then Mccain but I laugh at anyone who thinks a politician brought up in a broken system is going to change it.
The way our government is being run these days is disgusting. The political divide is hilarious considering only half of our population votes and are largely misinformed due to horrible media.
If I have to explain then you aren't even worth talking to. Having Palin anywhere close to anything important is extremely dangerous. Besides Obama has been more centrist then anything so you really don't know what you're saying.
Palin would be manipulated by lobbyists into doing w/e they want. On the other hand, Obama willingly and knowing sells out the american people to corporate interest. Ty, without further reflection, i wouldn't have realized obama is worse than palin.
@warning2thewise speak up about it. Raise your fist and yell. I'm a Canadian and i'll admit I don't know jack about my country because I don't follow the news because it's all b.s. and we don't have a TYT Canadian but if I knew our government was messing us over i'd be at the Parlament buildings speaking my mind. Might not hold but 2 cents but if more and more people do the same it becomes an issue.
I don't want to run your life, run the economy or run the world. I would take a paycut as President because he's not supposed to be doing much to begin with.
THAT is the type of individual to elect. Allow you to have your civil liberties protected as well as keep the govt, which can be bought off, OUT of the economy. Corporations can't do what they do without the helping hand of the regulatory system.
glad im a canadian and not from USA btw, you guys pay lots of tax, u got no universal healthcare, and all the tax gets given to failing companies lol, if you work it out the job salary to handout ratio probably works out equal so the car industry might aswell not exist, usa should just lower tax or pay those peoples salaries with tax money and let them stay home lol
Obama works for the bankers. I really don't see why Cenk is acting so surprised. Getting rid of Geithner isn't going to fix anything. Obama appointed him knowing who is was and who he works for. He'll just appoint another banker lackey.
People are losing their jobs and homes. Yet Obama and Co. gives MORE money to the bankers and assholes that got us into this mess? Fuck them all. 2012 can't come sooner.
All you sheeple should remember that Geitner is a jew and he is just funneling money to his buddies that own just about everything . And he is doing it legally!
well since the gov't is big for the corporations, not the people, and the corporations are doing great....id say it does work, it just needs to change its focus. like a flashlight aimed at a fat chick, move it to selma hayek and it works fine
In reality, this is an issue where pretty much everyone can see eye to eye. It won't happen though. They're all too busy reinforcing they're own political position. The talk shows aren't helping.
I guess history repeats itself? WE have not learned from the Great DEpression or the recent recession! It is time to wake up and arrest these bankers! Death to capitalism!
I agree with Cenk, but the point that he's missing is that the bankers and the treasury people are in cahoots. They are literally stealing fromt he poor and giving it to the rich to make them richer. OF COOOOUURRSE.
If this only happened once I would have waived it off as the gov getting taken advantage of. But its happening time and time again. I'd rather the money go to regular schmoes so they can start businesses that can compete with these oligarchies.
@tjfgermany58123 You forgot about all our sports with spygate, steroids, mobbed up gambling refs, not to mention the colleges that make millions/billions off of kids.
What the banks do is they give out mortgages or loans to people who can't afford to pay them back. Then the banks bundle up these loans and resell them to other banks as derivatives. Then the banks make bets through their hedge funds that the mortgages will default.
@wnnw98 So the question is, who is STILL betting against the future contracts in these Hedging bets. The Answer is, the banks with OUR money. They don't care, its not their money after all.
We need Sarah Palin as President for she will completely clean out this toxic asset mess with the CLEANSING and PURIFYING POWER OF GOD HERSELF! She will UNLEASH the WRATH OF GOD HERSELF onto Geitner and FULLY EXPOSE his PUSSY for the WHOLE WORLD TO SEE! She will have a SUPERIOR white conservative female Treasury Secretary who will help Palin SAVE this economy with Palinomics and clean out the Toxic Assets to non-existence!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
She will be just as hot as Carrie Prejean! All of the Palin administration and the Palin Congress will be comprised entirely of HOT WHITE CONSERVATIVE WOMEN for Palin will DESTROY the OLD BOYS NETWORK and OUST ALL MEN OUT OF DC!
You hit the nail on the head, ecwafisxtreme! She will return DC to the people by selling assets to the banks that belong to people just like us, some in cowboy hats with pickup trucks that we can imagine ourselves drinking beer with. And then we can say finally that private enterprise has allowed PEOPLE to own stuff that used to be enslaved to the American Kremlin. Thanks for sharing.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
We need Palin as President for only she has the POWER to fix all of these problems for she has the POWER OF GOD HERSELF! Palinomics will instantly fix all of our economic woes and bring back prosperity and glory to America!
I think they have an increase in their level of toxic assets because loans continue to go bad on a massive scale and their exposure is increasing constantly. Not because they are 'buying' more toxic assets, but because their assets continue to be re classified as toxic.
No, not quite. They are monkeying with the system for their own benefit, but they are not deliberately trying to destroy the government to bring in world government.
@dangerouslytalented: I couldn't agree more. And the government lets them get away with it! Now, if I commit a crime, I'm gonna go to jail for sure.
These guys break the law stealing hoards upon hoards of money right in front of the governments eyes and get no reprimanding of any sort. It makes me sick.
The problem is, the banksters have loaded the dice so that no matter what the government does, they get a whole stack of money. And if the government does NOT bail them out, then the whole economy collapses. They are like a cartoony supervillain, rigging up a bomb to the economy, and if the government do not pay 500 BILLION DOLLARS, they will destroy the economy.
Doctor Evil eat your heart out.
Yes I know it was more than 500 billion, but a trillion dollars does nto sound as doctor evilish.
They are running a casino, they are the croupiers, the security, the gamblers, and the owner of the casino. They are playing with OUR money, and the House always wins, even if they lose massive amounts, they have their bets covered, with OUR MONEY.
Meaning that the government pays the bank customers back their money they have in a failing bank up to $100 000. It isn't exactly damages, but repayment. If you have less than 100.000 in a bank, you get it all back. If you have more...
I'd rather not have to defend my farm from ye hungry and huddled masses for the People to learn that lesson. The trouble with the free market is that it readjusts itself... after massive hunger and bankruptcy and gnashing of teeth.
... and the banks that are too big to fail, will take the ones that have acted responsibly. This would cause a domino effect that will not be contained.
They have loaded the dice, they have stacked the deck. No matter how things turn out, it is in their favor.
@TheGiantRobot you know whats discouraging, The absolutely lack of knowledge, from the republican voters, they dont have any idea this is going on. they think, we liberals, worship Obama, and they hate us and him. you know our team versus your team. I was literally talking with some republicans about these issues, I swear they didnt have any idea, what I was talking about it sounded strange to them.
What I actually find much more disturbing is the lack of awareness of the Democratic voters. I expect ignorance from Republicans, but the Democrats on the whole seem to be just as ignorant about their own party's corruption.
If you get into a numbers debate with most of the Republican base, they can only recite the same vague concepts that they've heard on the talk shows. These are the folks that I grew up with. You know, the ones you saw as a kid and thought "wow, he's smart". When it really comes down to it, they're full of drek.

If you think Ron Paul is the answer, you'd better do some reading. He's not the pariah everyone thinks he is.
terminaldeity 2 years ago

I agree with him on most economic issues, but I don't think he has any interest in "liberty."
terminaldeity 2 years ago 2
@terminaldeity

JojahBoy 2 years ago
No one wants marijuana legalized more than me. Ron Paul doesn't support marijuana legalization, only federal deregulation. He's ok with individual states making it illegal. As I've already stated, I agree with him on economic matters, but I don't think all of his policies are sound, or even honest for that matter. Keep in mind he's still a politician.

The American people are having their country destroyed and the only thing to blame is their own stupidity and ignorance.

EXACTLY!

As Ron Paul stated during his campaign:
I don't want to run your life, run the economy or run the world. I would take a paycut as President because he's not supposed to be doing much to begin with.
THAT is the type of individual to elect. Allow you to have your civil liberties protected as well as keep the govt, which can be bought off, OUT of the economy. Corporations can't do what they do without the helping hand of the regulatory system.

What the banks do is they give out mortgages or loans to people who can't afford to pay them back. Then the banks bundle up these loans and resell them to other banks as derivatives. Then the banks make bets through their hedge funds that the mortgages will default.
wnnw98 2 years ago
@wnnw98 So the question is, who is STILL betting against the future contracts in these Hedging bets. The Answer is, the banks with OUR money. They don't care, its not their money after all.

I think they have an increase in their level of toxic assets because loans continue to go bad on a massive scale and their exposure is increasing constantly. Not because they are 'buying' more toxic assets, but because their assets continue to be re classified as toxic.

The banksters are nothing but bookies.
They are running a casino, they are the croupiers, the security, the gamblers, and the owner of the casino. They are playing with OUR money, and the House always wins, even if they lose massive amounts, they have their bets covered, with OUR MONEY.
Some serious regulation has to occur.
dangerouslytalented 2 years ago 12
@dangerouslytalented Why regulate now? Let the banks collapse the government and maybe the People will learn not to trust corporate capitalism.
wnnw98 2 years ago
Because the banks have OUR MONEY.
Take a good look at Iceland to see what happens when you let the banks go under.
dangerouslytalented 2 years ago
Duh. That was my point. Let it burn, man. That's the only way to teach the People a lesson.
wnnw98 2 years ago
Then the Fed shouldl bail us out if the banks go under, simple. Or their asset will be taken over by other banks.
In other countries the central banks pays up to $100.000 in damages if a bank fails to an account holder.
wcub4 2 years ago
@wcub4
Meaning that the government pays the bank customers back their money they have in a failing bank up to $100 000. It isn't exactly damages, but repayment. If you have less than 100.000 in a bank, you get it all back. If you have more...
In finland IIRC it was 150.000€.
Tounushi 2 years ago
I'd rather not have to defend my farm from ye hungry and huddled masses for the People to learn that lesson. The trouble with the free market is that it readjusts itself... after massive hunger and bankruptcy and gnashing of teeth.

The trouble with the free market is that it's not free. Somewhere along the line the People have to pay.
