  • I wish my 182 Cup didn't have ABS. Its a pain in the arse. Whenever you trail brake into a corner and get a bit of oversteer on entry it decides to start jabbing individual brakes (even with the ESP off) which results in both yourself and the car trying to manage the slide. The way it keeps trying to spear me off the road and kill me is very annoying. It will be a 172 cup if i buy another.

  • PhillanTKR Id like 2 see u slow a car down in them conditions with no ABS whilst driving hard!! Every1 makes mistakes in changing conditions but i bet ur 1 ov those perfect drivers R U!!!!

  • you can't drive for shit

  • hi guys..

what would you need to strip off from regular 172 to get the weight like a cup version?

I know aircon, and i heard that they made thiner window glass, but did they take the abs off just to save weight? how much does the ABS weight then?

  • in the wet you have turn off the ABS ?

  • Nope...the 172 Cup doesn't have ABS at all.

  • O_o !!!

in italy the Cup (Ragnotti named as really!) have the ABS and in all version (to 1.2 8v to RS) was NOT disconnectable! damn!

  • i know exactly how that feels...never hit anything but ive had it lock up in the wet like that they do tend to lock up very easily...

  • the cup is hellish in the wet,a hated how easily it locked up.

  • LOL - Took it well, unlike those two cones. Did it do any damage apart from perhaps some marks on the bumper?

  • Nothing too serious - leading edge of the bumper's pushed back on one side so I've got it booked in for some tender loving brute force on Monday.

  • doesnt the clio cup have better brakes than the normal 172 to compensate for lack of abs? my cup has grooved and drilled discs with just basic greenstuff pads and stops on a penny, always been impressed!

  • Will it stop on a wet penny? ;)

RE better brakes on the Cup. I believe they are slightly different in some respect for improved feel, but that is it.

  • There's no rear axle compensator, although I think that's only because of the lighter rear end.

Also the bias is set hevaily toward the front at the factory...routinely Cups get failed come MOT time for low rear brake effort. So low my OE from the factory rear pads lasted 90,000 miles!

  • yes thats true the dont put a spring on the load sensing valve at the rear beacuse they are far 2 sensitive on the 172.

  • lol you need ABS!

  • Mark = ledge LOL Oh the memories

  • LOL funny.

  • lol

  • you had to tempt fate lol

  • lol.. funny vid.. who needs abs haha
