Seth Thomas 8-Day OG Clock Made About 1865 - 1870

Nice lyre movement, but I suspect it's not original to the case. I have seen a handful of Thomaston movements in Plymouth cases, where they appear to be original (usually in early cases), but with this clock, the pendulum bob falls way too low in the case to be acceptable as original. I'd say it's been changed at some point. The pendulum bob never usually passes the bottom edge of the door.

I had wondered about it not being original, as the end of the center shaft touches the glass when the door is closed. Do you think the movement came from a cornice and column case, which would have a longer pendulum?

I'm thinking the same thing. The clock you have in the video looks like an 8 day ogee, correct? I believe that a column and cornice (triple decker) usually has an 18-19" drop, where the 8 day ogee uses a 15-16" drop.
