I remember seeing Doves when they joined Happy Mondays supporting Oasis in Wembley in 2000. They were getting booed when they came on as nobody had heard of them, by the end of the set nobody wanted them to leave! This is still my favourite Doves song, closely followed by there goes the fear and rise! Can't wait for their new album to be finished :o)

this band is awsome and i love the beatles but there has definitly been bands that top this one and even the beatles i mean Zepplin was awsome and in my opinion they were better than the beatles not in writing but as musicons they had the beatles beat. and theres other good bands like the virgins Hot Chip The strokes radiohead the doves are good but there not the only ones out there

Being good musicians does not make a band great. No one has changed or revolutionised modern pop music like the beatles and that is why they are held in such regard. They invented modern pop music and are still copied today and have achieved more than any band since. There would have been no Led Zep if not for the beatles. Anyone can get good at instrumentation. Great song writing is a true gift. There are bands i like more than the beatles but none that i respect more.

psychosissafari - the vid you're thinking of is probably Elbow's one for Leaders of the Free World...they're driving a big robot thingy and the crowd ducks as they head for the stage if I remember right. yes! finally found it, though this is a short version. I dont know why but I love this tune, its a lesser known one of the doves but the only one that captures me. NOTE: it must be listened to at considerably hi volumes. If you've had a hard day, play this really loudly and let it take you away for 4 minutes 41 seconds.
