Did it make everyone forget? We questioned these ties and posed this question to Obama and then we heard his answer, now we choose whether to accept this or not. Ultimately the choice is ours. What we respect about Obama is that he at least partially confronted the issues as opposed to many other politicians including our current president who never answers questions about any of his ties or mistakes or actions.

If Obama really meant what he said, why in 20 years of a close personal relationship with Wright, did he not manage to have any sort of influence? If, in 20 years, he could not move a dear, close "uncle" one step closer to reconciliation, how are we to believe he will move an entire nation? Do we see evidence of his efforts at reconciliation in his pastor? In his wife? In his supporters? Is taking his children to that church intended to foster reconciliation in them as the future generation?

I'm not an Obama supporter, but I admit that it was an excellent, politically motivated speech.

It would have been nice for him to discuss Wright's ridiculous implication that white women don't understand or experience oppression. It would have been nice if he denounced the mindless misogyny that his supporters often express. But, all in all, it was a good speech.

However, I already knew he was a great public speaker. Unfortunately, he's still not qualified to lead this country.
