it's a rather brutally honest song about bereavement which we all have deal with one day....gilbert'soriginal is too painful and direct for modern listeners...not even morrissey approached this most difficult subject so directly. 'alone again' is a musical first. (unless one counts john lennon's 'my mummy's dead' - which was an album track, not a pop song and international hit)

Very nice cover without destroying elements of the original. My only gripe, CLEARLY, Elton's voice has been heavily, heavily mechanically altered. Shame, really. I mean, we can't expect him to have the voice left after decades of singing. He could have pulled this off without the alteration. Still a lovely, lovely song and version!
