the thing about Hendrix wasn't that he was so good, it was that he was one of the first recognized to really play outside the box. Hendrix helped break the mold, and opened up a new world on which to play guitar

@doolb666 Satriani probably taught most of them, and even he admits that he's not as good as Hendrix. In fact, Hendrix was his biggest influence. And though Steve Vai may be better than Satriani, he had to learn from Satriani. Hendrix learned on an old broom stick and didn't have a teacher; other than the Muddy Waters and Bob Dylan records he was listening to. Anything else?
