  • Lady,

Indian's may habit of staring, but doing harm may not always be the intension.

We may stare because, you are new around. We expect that you may ask for

help. The way you talk about Indian culture is as if we are way too aggressive.

May be you had bad experiences but, blaming an entire nation, thats not good.

PS: Indians have tough time to open up to communication, but once we open

up to chat, for sure you will realize how friendly we are.

  • 9 minutes that could have been 45 seconds.

  • It doesn’t mean Indian don’t like you. Its means you are special (like celebrity). Indian is shy to talk, by staring they want that you start talk (even very brief). That talk will be a big achievement for them (as you talk to any Hollywood star)

  • I was staring at this video.

  • What bullshit! I live in Quebec City. I am Indian. The Quebecers (some) here stare at me if I go to a store. I look at these people as if why this person puts a oh my god where sis this guy from look. that makes me sick. Making eye contact is not wrong. Raping is. Pedophelia is. Think who does all this. Your white friends Think before you ink.

  • @mojorisin08 The point of this video series is just that- to show that regardless of culture; people stare. Though the title singles out Indians, the message within is that we all must look at our own behavior and realize what we do and why we do it (and that people from all cultures are guilty of making others uncomfortable, staring and breaking the law as you mention). • indians appreciate babe and thats y they stare

  • Its deffenetly very uncomfortable, but over here in India they never notice that, or give a dam.

Its the way you attract girls over here by staring at them.

but the society is very tight, you are very much safe, many are there to protect a girl in India, most of the time, guys get beaten if the girls complain.

girls are safe, except very few incidents.

    Major factor could be:

conservative society, curicity, men to women ratio, strangeness.

  • I totally agree with the author,

Indians do stare a lot , a lot more than anybody in the planet earth.

    Again that depends,

I would say bit more complicated, but few things

-Standing out (could be with dress, color )

-Indians are very racial ( they like lighter color people, these are rooted to the deepest in India), but they never harm you, you are safe.

-The major factor is , to get attention, the logic I noticed is the more u stare, the probability they getting the looks back is more.

  • i live in india and i can tell u indians do stare a lot espicially if ur white

  • U Dumbo ...white's will also do the same when they a guy or gal from different race.......atleast v don't make them slave....

  • I have interacted with almost people of all parts (urban and rural) and I know how an average indian would think. It is highly unlikely for a case of racial targeting. A bit of history..Britishers continued their businesses in India way upto1980s even after Indian independence in 1947 which would never have happened if they were racially targeted. The non-violence mindset is en grained in majority of the Indians, however one off cases shouldn't be looked as voice of the majority.

  • @alaivani..just stumbled on this video..by the way nice effort and thank you. By the way staring is a normal phenomena..however in India's case its is fueled by curiosity brought out by differentiation. In the rural parts the staring might be a little bit longer than urban because of the newness. In an urban setting if an american would be working in an Indian company, everything would seem so normal. (because of less newness).

  • one advice to lady

try 2 come 2 the point a bit quicker

  • @fall4fellatio Yes, I am very long winded. I have to improve myself on that.

Thanks for taking your time and the feedback. Hope something in the video was useful.

  • @alaivani

it was but over the internet, people have a very shor attention span, which is why u need to come to the point , quickly

  • @alaivani The video was useful, though I agree w/ others on the length. By the way, would you answer a question regarding Indians & the overuse of the word "actually"? Also, I began researching why it seems people from India do not like a direct "no" as an answer. I read that it is viewed as too harsh and so, indirect answers are given that can be a yes or no. But, if this is true, why isn't a direct answer better than an uncertain answer where many different possible outcomes are sought out?

  • @ alaivani

yes,,i agree staring on us feels it creepy but there are things that is not in your list..

staring is observing, studing about somethings,,i will stare first if i see an unknown or unusual thing if i see anywhere or anytimes..its only because i have seen many whites as i lives in a tourist spots here,,i dont mind when i see whites..but if i lived in village inside india than i will also be staring on you or any blondies

is it hard to understand why is it so??

  • I don't think there's anything wrong with a bit of Window Shopping !!! Everyone has done his/her bit in their life !!! So instead of doing on piece on staring, why couldn't you do one on eve-teasing ???

  • @MrBoon008 Eve-teasing- yes Eve-teasing and staring can be easily linked as well; we see how staring and stalking leads to mutual attraction in a lot of Indian movies. I don't understand why media is glorifying this because it's kind of creepy.

  • @alaivani Yes, you are right !!! Eve-teasing and staring can be easily linked ... the only difference between them being NOT to stare when the other party isn't interested !!! But its kinda hard not to though, because most of the time, us men aren't thinking with the head on our shoulders when we see a cute chick !!! But that doesn't necessarily excuse eve-teasing that we normally encounter because they are the ones who are actually making us look bad !!!

  • @alaivani Totally agree with you...its very annoying when people stare. they dont smile ..they dont talk..just stare!! i am an indian and when people do that i just do not understand it...

  • @VedicArya also indians (from small towns) are one of the rudest people in this earth!

  • @carolinaindian I share these topics to give people pause to think about how they and others behave to provide insight and understanding. Responding with derogatory comments, hate and racism does not help to solve these problems or create understanding- only widen this gap. That is why I have deleted your comment which did not lead to insight or understanding.

  • @VedicArya I guess even mainstream people have their weakness and tendencies just like everyone else! I think I touch on that in part two of this video series which is posted in Facebook. :)

  • @VedicArya You made two good points. First, people who need this message won't get it because they can't access the net. I agree. I struggled with this in making this message. I decided if I did not get it out to someone, then it may never get to those who need to hear it. Second point, those who stare are not exposed to the world. I learned some Indians who stared at me in India have lived/studied abroad. I have also been stared at by Indians in USA! By the way, I am also guilty of staring!

  • People of India are of the same race as people of European ancestry. Here is the dictionary definition of Caucasian:

1.) of, pertaining to, or characteristic of one of the traditional racial divisions of humankind, marked by fair to dark skin, straight to tightly curled hair, and light to very dark eyes, and originally inhabiting Europe, parts of North Africa, western Asia, and India: no longer in technical use.

  • @IamtheBurceDickenson Fascinating!! Thanks. Now I remember reading this in college long back, but I never equated the two until you pointed it out to me.

Hmmmm....now the challenge is how to describe ...what term I should be using, if even there is one. Thanks for teaching me this.

  • @alaivani You're welcome. Hope I didn't come off as too much of a know it all. I just remember it because as a kid I would actually read our set of world book encyclopedias and this fact stuck in my head for all these years. I was interested in your video because I used to work at a world famous monument in the US that gets a lot of visitors from India and they were some of the most dificult people to deal with.

  • She talks about Caucasian females being stared at by people in India but the people of India are Caucasian also.

  • @IamtheBurceDickenson I am a little confused. Are you referring to Anglo-Indians? Yes there are communities of Anglo and other Indians that can be part Caucasian. Are there other communities I am not aware of? Thanks for taking time to watch my videos. Happy New Year!

  • Indians stare a lot, its weird habit but not all Indians, its usually Indians from off the boat. I think the only people who stare more are Europeans, Euroepans love to stare, especially Germans.

  • @Gabbo2010 Interesting observations. Gabbo, have you been to India? I agree that FOBs (Fresh off boats) may stare more than longer settled people, but also in India itself Indians who never left (and maybe some who have!) still stare quite a bit! :) Again I can take it out of context so I see it.. where as in US sure people stare, but I am in a crowd where I blend in so I already don't feel so different as I would in India...sooo...Thanks for watching my video.

  • @alaivani

Yes, I have, I live in Australia. Indians do like to stare but still Europeans are a lot worse. Try going to Germany, the Germans stare a lot and its not necessarily friendly. In India its more curiosity, you are a Westerner and they do not have much real life experience with them. Europeans often give unfriendly gazes, especially in Germany and in Russia. I am of Eastern Euro origin so I know this, don't mind Indians, I like them.

  • I've notice Indians don't move out of the way when they are blocking the aisle in a small supermarket, even if they see you. Most other races will move out of the way. I've also noticed Indians turn corners really slowly while driving.

  • @neomysterio Thanks for watching my video and sharing your thoughts.

I have two experiences about the slow turning myself!

India- In some parts of India, rather than stop at the intersection, people nudge out slowly. Oncoming traffic expect it, and stop if people don't start nudging!

USA- I was in a car with a friend from India getting his license. He nudged so slowly into the traffic. It scared me. It doesn't work well here at all because oncoming traffic comes fast and will not slow down!
