  • Saw them yesterday, they opened with this. We were blown away! God,that was a concert! No,it was THE concert!

  • @givemeajackson lol, motorhead not full of drug addicts? LOOK AT THEY'RE NAME. Or just look at Lemmy, hahahahaha

  • I can't grasp how many albums these guys have made, and they still fart out masterpieces like this song. I just don't understand it.

  • Seeing these guys live later today ;D

  • That's it, guys. Pack it in. The search for the best song ever is over.

  • And the last of time has come

    To reunite again as one

To the power of the earth i'm calling

    Crossing bridges in the sky

On a journey to renew my life

    Shaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamaaaaaaaan take my haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand

    EPIC!!!

  • Mike Portnoy is a great drummer.

Dream Theater is still a great band.

    So, Happy now bitches?

  • Of course I mourn the loss of Mike Portnoy but I think that Mike Mangini is a great replacement! I like their new sound as much as I liked the old DT.

  • 4:58 That riff is just crazy. It should totally last longer

  • DT are completly death... R.I.P

  • @MrAgus2912 You're a dumbass, DT is the best band in the world. Name one band that has been around for over 25 years that aren't full of drug addicts and that don't have to sell out to the mainstream. Oh, what is that? You can't name one? That's what i though idiot, if you don't like them then go watch some beiber you fag

  • @lnghrndude02

    Rush.

Now, am I safe to assume that there's some kind of reward for me now?

  • @lnghrndude02 I think the guy referred to the departure of Portnoy, but well. I don´t know if they´ve been out for long enough, but Symphony X is my 1st favourite, and DT goes 2nd. They´ve been for a long time already, and aren´t full of adicts nor sell themselves to the mainstream :/

  • @lnghrndude02 Iron Maiden

  • @lnghrndude02 immolation, kreator, rush, rage, testament, maiden, motörhead, benediction (only 22 years, who cares), sodom,.... dont act like a fanboy, as much as i love dt, there is no need to get that silly "they are the best evar and everyone who says something different is a fag and an idiot and has no idea of music" attitude. leave that shit to the bieber fans!

  • @lnghrndude02 Iron Maiden

  • I can state that DT are trying to broaden their target group concerning the fans. This is what I can assume from the new wave of their songs.

  • Petruchi = ayahuasca smoking 'roid freak

  • @MlKEPORNTOY lol you have nothing going for your shit life do you?

  • I wasn't expecting anything from this album and it's, for sure, one of their best late releases. I mean, on Systematic Chaos, Octavarium or Black Clouds, there were amazing tunes but the rest was so so. On Dramatic Turn, everything is fucking epic!

Reminds me the period of Images and Words. Thumbs up for DT!

Can't wait to hear an album on which Mangini will have space to develop his playing.

  • @drainth as much as i adore portnoy era DT, this and Breaking all illusions are astonishing songs. as much i wanted them not to be.. but that's progressive metal for you.

  • This is a jam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Como le haces para q los de Youtube no t molesten con los derechos de autor??

  • Anyone know what the deep voice is saying at beginning and end of song? I believe the Latin phrase chanted is agnus dei (Lamb of God) but then there is a short Latin phrase right after that chant. Any context to DT's purpose of starting this song off with this religious reference would be helpful. Thanks.

  • dedicato a i miei due amici vecciotti del san quirino!

  • Fave song off the new album - so damn good!!!

  • *Death Survivor* Not Dancer Fire

  • Comment removed

  • Awesome!!!!!

  • I cant believe I had never really listened to dream theater before. my mind has been blown away! Great song!

  • @aggieman244 welcome

  • @aggieman244 i think it was their drummer that once said dream theater is the most famous unknown band.

  • @aggieman244 listen old songs with their ex-drummer Mike Portnoy, they are far better. Like "Train Of Thought" the best album ever ;)

  • @Drainth For sure will do. I just saw them in concert tonight with Trivium. Such an amazinng concert!!!

  • Guitar intro is f*cking awesome....

  • Awesome song. Is it about death? All the lyrics do seem to relate to that

  • This is the very best song on the record!

  • 2 underprivileged douche-bags with no sense of taste.

  • I kinda prefer the original title of the song "Shamans Trance', works well with that part after the shaman throat singing, amazing song, LOVE this album. I grow to love it more each day I hear it, by far my choice of album of the year

  • i need to wash my headphones now because my ears just had the most intense orgasms in the world.

  • MP as a drummer is great, but as a person he sucks ass; his attitude sucks! Oh and his vocals ******* suck balls! I am so happy MM is the new drummer; hence, this song is my fav on cd. This song in concert was fucking awsome! Chicago

  • @3Conservation get fucked bro. Mp was an awesome guy and a real person for DT

MM is a fuckn awesome drummer and a perfect addition and so right for the band but MP was awesome

ur not a fuckn real DT fan fagot

  • @BfmvMetalDemon It's his opinion, let him think what he wants and you think what you want. Mike Mangini and Portnoy are both amazing drummers. But, in my opinion, I like Mangini better.

  • "HUUUUAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!" (cit.)

  • I fucking love that chorus. :o

  • DT ARE "F****ING CRAZY!" (thats my word for great, hilarious, magificent, superb.....etc.)

  • can someone tell where could I find an explanation of their lyrics ??? Hopefully a video or doc made by the band =)) ???

  • DT is finally back! \o

  • Best song on the album, end of story.

  • Never fully came to appreciate LaBrie's voice, but on this album it's way better because it's a little more raw than it used to be. Awesome!

  • bob the spuare pants!!!!!

  • At 7:13 , it sounds real similar to Final Fantasy's 8 track "The Landing" but there is no way I am complaining,it's just great when you different variations of tunes mixed together. Same happened with Aerith's Theme in the LTE song "Biaxident"

  • @undertaker3134 I just bought and listened to the album yesterday and as soon as that part came up i immediately thought the landing

  • All Dt songs are master piece and meaningful, DT music has come to define me as a person.

  • Great song! I love the chorus it has such an atmosphere. Anyone think it is strange that JP and JM are the only original members? I guess JL is technically an original since he wasn't there for one album, but a just keep thinking who will it be next? John Myung? I bet he feels some burnout.

  • @mjc71189 Nobody has to be next.

  • Comments here are Hilarious!!! This song is AWESOME! one of the best! This album is fucking great!

  • WWWWWWHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @three6kella8350 Don't associate everything with core you idiot! You're probably the one who hasn't heard much of other genres of metal that you keep associating things with metalcore! And yes I firmly believe that to make this particular song of 'dream theater' sound really awesome and heav'ier' they needed to have atleast a few lines in between of growls....cause James Labrie's vocals aren't the best in the world. He did do it on his solo album!

  • @SatanicBlasphemer666 growls have no place in dream theater, imo. the growling in some of their songs was mostly portnoy trying to get dt to sound "with the times" in terms of modern music trends.

  • @SatanicBlasphemer666 maybe they dont want to be heavier?

I am happy that there are a few metal bands out there that put soul into it instead of just making 100% of their songs growing meh. Same old. Same old.

  • That guitar solo with the Wah peddle.... amazing

  • First couple lines vocals : John Myung

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • This album really grows on you. At first i thought the whole album was meh didnt see the hype but when i got the CD (There was a sale at HMV haha), I been listening to it on repeat over and over again. Its that damn awesome=) Best album in a while.

  • @OoStellarNightoO so true brother

  • 7:20 sound like a "the landing" soundtrack from FInal Fantasy viii :D

  • I will be the first dislike.... for fun :P DT is my favorite band btw lol

  • The chorus is so fuckin great

  • well i gotta say the group is doin a good job with mangini its just that the DRUMS SOUND A BIT LOW on this album and not much in the forefront as in other past albums like Black Clouds & Silver Linings and Train of Thought...at some parts the drums sound very clear and strong but for the most part it seems a bit on the low side ESPECIALLY THE TOMS...am i the only one that realizes this or what guys?...however still one the greatest DT songs ive ever heard...good job guys...

  • @descartes2358 thats what happens when Portnoy doesn't produce the album

  • @lokifea05 ooh...lol...i see

  • I just noticed this today, 8:37 - In The Presence Of Enemies!

  • That voice at the intro....that was portnoys reaction when the band didnt want him back

  • this song is really awesome!

(see, made comment without writing over portnoy)

  • what;s the problem with the intro...that's not dream theater...give me back the portnoy

  • @TheOsirix12 never heard octavarium?

  • @slashy04 what the fuck octavarium have to do anything here?

  • @TheOsirix12 the intro to octavarium. fuck

  • @slashy04 lol? listen again to octavarium...they are no freaking sounds with ooawwuuudd woooow...

  • @TheOsirix12 lol... i you're upset about that i suggest you stop listening to dream theater

  • @slashy04 and i suggest you to listen again to octavarium

  • @TheOsirix12 i think he was talking about the synth. LOL!

  • @justaspectator01 sure he did

  • 52 TO 56 is taken from TIM DONAHUES track MORTE ET DABO from the album MADMEN AND SINNERS. 100%. which is a great album BTW, featuring JAMES LABRIE.

  • NO ONE PRESS THAT DISLIKE BUTTON! NO ONE!

  • @SatanicBlasphemer666 I feel like DT is just not the type of band to pull it off. I listen to all forms of extreme metal (Death, Black, Core, Grind, Djent, etc) and I have to say I love it all equally. But DT remains my favorite "Non-growling" band because that's what I listen to them for. I don't think combining growls with the clean vocals could help (especially if Labrie did them). Labrie is much more of a heavy metal singer than a DM growler. Mike Portnoy could pull it off but he's not here

  • Exactly....I listen to dream theater ONLY because there is sooo much to learn form their music! But It would really feel awesome if they could at least make the metal sounding tracks such as this one to be lil more metal!

  • Yaa those super clean vocals ARE called gay vocals! You don't listen to a lot of extreme metal do you? How would you know! I was merely suggesting a combination of growls and clean vocals as it would sound much better!

  • @SatanicBlasphemer666 Clean vocals = Gay? You are wrong sir.

  • @SatanicBlasphemer666

thing is Dream Theater isnt extreme metal, so they dont need growls and screams, it just wont fit their music

  • @SatanicBlasphemer666 Also, what fucking musical scholar calls clean vocals "gay"? Wherever you are getting this from i want to know because this person needs to be fucking shot. I listen to extreme metal also, but just because some guy isn't going "RORORORORORORORORORORORORORORORORO" into the microphone doesn't mean it's fucking gay.

  • @xxbss4lifexx Hey I just said it "sounded" a little gay! Nothin else!

  • @SatanicBlasphemer666 You, sir, are what we call fucking retarded. Come on. You don't need growls to make things sound heavy. Clean vocals aren't "gay." It's called use of melodies and music. Growling is more of a percussive style of vocals. Get over your metal core. If you don't think it's heavy enough then go listen to the old heavier dream theater or stick to metalcore. And calling something "gay" is pretty inbred redneck-ish.

  • What the fuck is the intro? But the rest of the song is cool.

  • @ImlFaria Would be more fitting if they'd kept the original title "Shaman's Trance"

  • @Dragonwe11 Yeah, I think so.

  • LoL to all the narrow-minded people that doesn't like the intro. I think the Intro is awesometastic and the rest of the song provides me with powerful eargasms!

  • i get a Pirates of the Carribean feel at 7:15 haha

  • @eric1993v -- I was thinking Final Fantasy 8 boss battle, haha.

  • @PotatoHandle LOL i was talking about the same thing the other day with one of my friends! :P

  • 0:00 -> 0:35

Who knew Mike Portnoy recorded vocals for this album?

  • @rpgrocker01 is john myung dude

  • This song is amazing. They are the masters of the two-part chorus.

  • @TheVeryEpicCrew I use those things in my compositions xD

  • At about 1:50 it sounds like somebody should say "Don't cross the crooked step". Outstanding song though, and I plan on supporting the band by buying the album tomorrow or over the weekend.

  • I'm sick of Retards talking about growls in DT, They don't fucking do that gay shit.

  • @MrDevstarr I agree bro!!! It's so sad to hear bands that have obviously practiced and have done their homework, but don't bother to hire a singer who can sing!! If you growl and make puking sounds into the mic you are not a vocalist.

  • @tatemalmsteen your not a singer but technically since you do the vocal work you are

i scream growl and sing and they're good in medium quantities with singing majority

  • @deathmetalguitaristx I'll give you that man.I think a little bit of growling and shrieking here and there has always been a staple of heavy metal or hard rock.If that's all your doing though,it just sounds rediculous.

  • Soooo happy! I've listened to the album 3 times already.

  • Heaviest Dream Theater intro ever

  • And I hear Morte Et Dabo @ 0:53, listen closely! :D

  • @kssael yes, it's from omnisphere 2 :)

  • Best song on the album hands down!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great song! But I just wish James Labrie wouldn't sing like a lil' girl! I want some badass growls for such a badass song! I miss the growls in this band!

  • @SatanicBlasphemer666 Yeah, that totally sounds like a lil' girl... not!

  • @mortenhen Oh yeah It does!C'mon those vocals are pretty gay sounding! I know that's the way dream theater has been but there should be some change specially for those badass songs such as this one! I just want them to be a little stronger, more metal!

  • @SatanicBlasphemer666 Go listen to other bands then, there are plenty like that you like.

  • @SatanicBlasphemer666 "Gay"? You're a real winner in the brains department, aren't you?

  • @SatanicBlasphemer666 I'm probably the only one with you on this, I love old and new DT alike, part of why I like DT are their metal elements as well, when the new album came out I was slightly disappointed it wasn't as heavy as the previous few, still an amazing album though. I know DT weren't exactly a "metal" band to begin with, it's just that I enjoyed what Portnoy brought to the table as well.

  • @SatanicBlasphemer666 make a vocal cover with growls and screams, do what you think is better and lets see if it fits, who knows, maybe your right after all.

  • @SatanicBlasphemer666 Well, "satanic blasphemer" says it all, of course you think that. Not gonna argue with people like you about that matter.

  • @mortenhen I know...it says a lot! :P Like it a lil more brutal,eh! This is great still! \m/

  • @SatanicBlasphemer666 And take away the melodies? No thank you. Good melodies on top of awesome guitar riffs = perfect combination. Growls on top on awesome guitar riffs = not melodic enough. Which is why I usually don't like growls - they're often used in music with little melody to begin with.

  • For some reason, the intro reminded me of Mike Portnoy burping. Burps of remembrance.

  • Just bought the album and tickets to see them in Boston in October! So pumped! :D

  • @MetalOnPiano ME TOO!!! :D:D:D SEE YOU THERE!!!

  • THIS BLOWS!!!....................My Mind

  • WUUUUUUUUUUUUUT.....

    WUUUUUUUUUUUUUT......

    WUUUUUUUUUUUUUT....

WUUUUUUUUUUUUUT THE F*** THIS IS AMAZING

  • oh man that keyboard solo.....

  • Holy shit! I missed them

  • probably the best song of the album

  • This has potential to be the best song I've ever heard in my fucking life.......I am in LOVE with this sound!!

  • I reckon that sound at the beginning is John Myung burping

  • Jordan has a nice organ.

    D:

  • Did they listen first to Parkway Drive and Nevermore before composing this? :D

  • @kssael bitch!

  • @kembooo000 :D

  • just bought this album. favorite songs are this one, outcry, and breaking all illusions

  • The lyrics are wrong. This is the first line:

    OAAAWWWWUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDDDD

    OAAAWWWWUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDDDD

    OAAAWWWWUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDDDD

    AWWWOUUUUUU AWOUUUU AWOUUUUUUUU

  • Shaman's digestion noises after eating all the mushrooms at once :P

  • john myung at vocals...

  • @DANGILBERT03 No, that's Breaking All Illusions.

  • @gnryeah i dont mean that... i was talking about the voice at the beginning of the song is john myung

  • @DANGILBERT03 Oh, the throat singing? :D

  • @DANGILBERT03 it isn't. lol

  • This is an incredible song. One of my favourites on the album

  • What's with the diarrhea of the throat noises at the beginning and ends...

  • @DTKA1109 its called throat signing you ass

  • @DTKA1109

its called an aboriginal warcry. I think it fits the song quite well.

  • This song is perfection! Dream Theater owns all

  • *BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRP*

  • 0 dislikes :O

  • @zinck8 Lies..

  • there's also a repeat of melody near the end that's carbon copy of the ending of Closure by Opeth

  • @lokifea05 it does not matter because dream theater far exceeds Opeth's artistic capabilities anyway.

  • @MLGR3linquish Massive LOLZ

  • @lokifea05 i see no similarity.

  • @sk8metalnick6 the melody is note for note. it's not the whole phrase. :-/

  • they stole the start from Dimmu! D :

  • @omerneoh more like Howard shore!!

  • perfect

  • 0:11 - 0:18 THUMBS UP IF THATS UR FAVORITE PART
