Skillet is the only band who can integrate a violin into their music without making it sound like complete shit. Fusion of instruments is what makes a lot of bands good, and Skillet is at the top of my list for well-done integration.
I can kinda see both common opinions, including what was meant with Skillet's original idea.
Part of it does seem to be speaking about a boyfriend/girlfriend, but then again most songs that describe love also sound like they're about God too. Really, it is open-ended and some of it seems to swing either way. It's really cool how they can make a love song and a Christian song intertwine so well.

Not truly living because the state of comatose that you're in blinds you. God seems to be portrayed as the medicine to break the comatose.

I can kinda see both common opinions, including what was meant with Skillet's original idea.
Part of it does seem to be speaking about a boyfriend/girlfriend, but then again most songs that describe love also sound like they're about God too. Really, it is open-ended and some of it seems to swing either way. It's really cool how they can make a love song and a Christian song intertwine so well.

I think this song is about not wanting to live life without God, "Comatose, I'll never wake up without an overdose of you, I don't wanna live, I don't wanna breathe, 'les I feel you next to me, you take the pain I feel, waking up to you never felt so real" this song could be taken as that but also not having full life without God. Not truly living because the state of comatose that you're in blinds you. God seems to be portrayed as the medicine to break the comatose.
