Hello just wondering if your school includes the Bak Hok Kum Wu in the curriculum. Im aware Sum Nung had taught different variations in his curriculum at different times just curious if you teach it.
Dear Sir, I dont know Yuen Kay San Wing Chun so I have to apologize for my questions. For me it looks when he turns like he isnt in his center. Especially with his hips. Why is this so ? May I have to add I have seen another lineage who stands like this in the butterfly knives set. Kind regards,Darius :)
@WahrerDrache Darius, you have good eyes. This is how our lineage works (Yuen Kay-San / Sum Nung / Guangzhou Wing Chun). He did turn away from our "center line" with hips. Not like other style WC, when they turn, they remain in that "center" line... Well, I can say no more than this in here... But your question is very good :)
It looks like his techniques are great ! I`ve never heard of the " 12 Seperate Forms ," but it`s true that there are still many Forms & Sets in Foshan / Guang Zhou Wing Chun that are kept quite secret and most people outside have never heard of .Thank you for sharing this .
Feel free to help yourself to practice in this 12 -Separate Forms. In this form, it helps students to practice: - front meridian punch / three star punches - side body punch, - single dragon punch, - arrow punch, - knee down punch, - yin & yang palms (included Tan Sao), - upper + lower Fence Sao - inside + outside join/disperse/grasp (dap & lim Sao), - wing arm (Bong Sao), - hanging punch (Kwa Choi), - flapping wing palms, - break meridian palm - Kao Sao
We do not mind people using our style's form / technique but we hope that when people asked you where you learned this, you give credit back to our lineage by telling other is from Guangzhou Wing Chun.
In respond to the secret comment, for this 12-Separate Forms, it is no secret in our school's curriculum. All junior students were trained on this form before they learned Siu Lien Tao.
As you can see this form contains lots of important elements of Wing Chun. Once students get used to the moves in the form, they should have learned enough to protect themselves.
We do not want to comment on other Wing Chun school's style. And I do not want to say whether Peng Nam learned from Painted Face Kam or not. Yet, as this video info had stated that this 12-Separate-Forms was originated from Master CHEUNG Bo lineage.
As Grand Master Sum Nung's Guangzhou Wing Chun, 12-Separate-Forms is only 1 of the forms we have. If you interested in knowing more about our style, please feel free to visit us in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
CHAN Wah-Shun learned from LEUNG JAN. And LEUNG JAN learned from LEUNG Yee-Tai. Where LEUNG Yee-Tai learned from WONG Wah-Bo.
Our ancestor Painted Face Kam and WONG Wah-Bo both learned from husband of YIM Wing-Chun (which was LEUNG, Bok-Lao). So if the styles look similar, I won't feel strange...
The only thing I am not sure is this 12-separate-forms are descended from CHEUNG Bo lineage which is not with CHAN wah-shun lineage...
Comments are welcome, but you are asking a question that's off my area. For example, if someone ask me hey, Mr. A learned from Yim Wing Chun and your ancestor learned from Yim Wing Chun too, why are so much difference in the styles?
Well, first I cannot verify whether Mr. A did learn from Yim Wing Chun or not.
Second, even this person learn from same source, after so many generations, if there are difference between styles, that's deviation. I can't criticize either lineages. It just...
It is just not fair to any of the parties. Plus it is not polite to make comment on any other schools at all.
What I can only do is to make comment on our own school. Provided if your question / comment is on our school's performance (related to our school's subject).
Well, I hope you understand. If someone goes into your school and talked to your master that your style looks like etc etc, imagine how your master feel.
For your information, three stars punches can be found at video 0:26, 0:32

Yes, we do have Bak Hok Chum Wu in our curriculum. It is a foot work movement combined with hand techniques.

Thank you for the explanation of the 12 Seperate Forms . I can see how that would be a great idea to teach/learn from the very beginning .
Thanks again !

There's a Chinese saying, "Speech is liked water that spilled out, where you can NEVER take it back".
So think twice before voice out what we want to say. This is to protect your love one and yourself.
