probably cuz the amount of cash it would take to make a FULL movie. i mean think of all the CGI, props, weapons, costumes, good actors, voices for the covenant and brutes, vehicles, amount of land they would need, teaching the actors how to look real when doing the army stuff, food for the mass of actors, and etc. i mean starship troopers was 100 million. a live action halo movie would be from 500 million-1 billion.

@abelflexes2 very true. but halo is one of those things where if you dont make it perfect then it will be a flop. like the movie dragonball evolution. it couldve been great but they did a sucky job on goku and there wasnt much action. so the only director i see making an excellent halo movie is either michael bay or steven spielberg.

@abelflexes2 True, Avatar (I think) was the most expensive movie ever made. And that fellow James Cameron managed to convince people to lend the money so it's there true. But you have to also think, the Halo franchise has such a vast fanbase that if it were to come out crappy, it would be the biggest let down ever. Not to mention the money that'll be thrown away. But maybe there is a crazy enough director to do it this film.
