  • i have the pink hip loose pigmented eyeshadow and i got it at target it works reeely good on me.

  • Def I favor NYX, I have 3 and they are super awesome and excellent quality. Do you know if they make them anymore,????!!!!!

  • go to amazon.com i got 40 of the nyx and a free brush for 57 dollars

  • I like the H.I.P. pigments and I also have MAC pigments (which I like too). The key to using the H.I.P. pigments is to put them on a plate, paper towel or even inside the lid and spread it with the brush and then apply it. I have not tried the NYX pigments but I will. However the little bit of work you have to do is worth it. I own 10 of the H.I.P. pigments and I use them at least 4 to 5 time a week.

  • NYX IS THE BEST! Love it! great video!

    xoxoxo

    - Jess

  • very helpful thanks

  • I have to disagree...I think the L'oreal pigments are awesome. And NO pigment looks the same with no base...just like eyeshadow...why would u wear ANY eyecolor with no primer or base? I think the L'oreal pigments are very high quality, like MAC's

  • I actually like the Loreal pigments. I do use a base or use them with a mixing medium. I do agree that they suck dry. ;) And I do have high quality eyeshadows such as Makeup Forever, Stila, etc... No, they do not work as well, but I do like them with a base or wet. The Loreal color Fiery makes an awesome hot pink lip gloss! :)

  • im soo glad u did this i was considering getting some loreal pigments...imm deff try the nyx I'm a nyx fan anyways. :-)

  • nyx is so good, i use it with my mac pigments or instead of them sometimes even and it is so pigmented.

loreal has a lame color selection.

  • nyx of course is worth the shot, for the price... on their website, they're only 2.00. I know HIP has good pressed shadows. I only have one loose, but like you said it seems to just brush off and not show up. It actually made me hate loose shadows and never try them again till now.

Also another note NYX doesn't test on animals and Loreal does so quite another good reason to go with NYX.

  • i looove the turquoise!!! nyx pigemnts r really nice but i agree tht the container is difficult to work with. turquoise is my faaav color from them!!!

  • very helpfull

  • I know what you mean by the way it is...It's very chunky and not as finely milled. I have rebel and striving.I like them because they come out pretty vibrant for me..But, then again these are my first pigments. I am pretty use to using crappy eye shadows and cosmetics and trying to make the best of the them by using udpp or fix +.

  • i depotted all my NYX pigments. Much easier to use and i love it!

  • I'm so glad I seen this because I was tempted to get the loreal pigments. I'm so glad I didn't get them. I never see anyone doing tuts on their pigments. You might as well spend a couple dollars more and get Mac if you want pay that price for pigments

  • I bought the loreal ones and was completely disappointed. i have the valient one and a pink one, also. It's horrible. i'm def. going to try the NYX ones, i've heard great things about that brand.

  • I tried patting, and although I do like to apply pigments wet sometimes, I don't always want to. They're just too much trouble to get them to work, they should simply work without hassle in my opinion. I gave these away a long time ago, they're just not for me. ;) I'm glad that you got them to work for you though!

  • the loreal looks horrible!!! ugh!! :O

  • You shouldn't use L'oreals cosmetic.. They test their products on animals, which is just cruel!

  • OH & where do you get the nyx ones? i've never really seen them anywher. and i was wondering if the pearl manias differed from the ultimate pearl line?

  • good review. thanks :) i was about to buy the L'Oreal ones but now im actually gonna try the NYX ones. so thanks :) you just save me a lot of $! hahaah

  • I agree...the HIP pigments are crap and grossly overpriced. The eyeshadow duos aren't very good either. I do really like the cream eyeliner though.

  • awesome videosubscribe to me:)

  • i lovveeeee the nyx pearl pigments, and they are soo cheap, it's good for rainbow looks because i would never be able to afford enough colors for a rainbow look with mac or loreal pigments lol

  • I have the lip pigments and they are nice and powdery and go on real good for me. I wonder if it has to do with humidity.

  • my l'oreal hip pigment goes on great also, and ive had numerous compliments. i'm a little surprised by this review.

  • I just bought the loreal hip pigment in Excitement and if its used with loreal's decrease they work fairly nicely. They don't go on terribly smoothly but they work to a point. I don't hate it.. but I don't love it either.

  • I agree on you with the Loreal, i bought three of them ...one kinda looks like MAC sharkskin, its horrible, the white one is really nice, the purple i cant get to blend well, and i used primer/base...I love the HIP potted shadow duos i wish the loose powder was as good.

  • omg.. you should try the nyx chrome shadows... they r AWSOME!

  • didn't seem like you even cared to compare the HIP vs. the NYX, cuz it's obvious you already had your own opinion on it...

and by the way, you said you didnt know what you would do with those HIPs you have, well just give them to me if you don't like them as much as you say.

  • the nyx is one dollar because THATS WHAT ITS WORTH.you actually get alot more pigment with loreal even with out a base.thats why its much more and i think its worth it.

  • This frustrates me a bit.

Before I improved my make-up skills I used HIP loose powders without a base & they were amazing. I did use my finger, but still, not as badly as they were showing up.

Now I use a base & they come off beautifully. I'm not really sure why they were so bad for you.

I love NYX too, but I am just saying that Loreal HIP is one of my favorites.I have almost every duo, & 6 loose powders.

The powders do look like crap in your vid.

Maybe you got a bad batch, I'm not sure.

  • I sell the entire line of nyx cosmetics and the nyx pigments went up in price and all nyx is getting ready to go up in price again. I agree with what you said about the loreal, it's too chunky nyx pigments are way better and a suggestion get some 5 grm jars and put them in there thats what I do. If you want to order nyx contact me I have the lowest prices & ship worldwide.

  • have u tried the nyx chrome eyeshadows they are loose powders also and are beautiful and as far as the pressed the best ones are the single and the ultimate pearl eyeshadows they are pressed but wow are they pigmented and the colors are beautiful

  • wow. honetly i LOVE hip pigments it doesnt look like you were being fare to the hip pigments their not like ANYTHING like mines

i have rebel in hip pigments it is SOO pigmented is crazy just DRY , wet is too much for me!

maybe you should try diff colors u picked some bland colors , dark.

  • I do like the NYX pigments, but i tend to find that when you try to brish them on your eyelids or blend them, all the powder just seems to get brushed off.. even with mac paint under it. :-/ If used wet they are great but much harder to blend. My HIP pigments seem to work better than yours though, i wonder if the product has been changed.. either way im a fan of both for different reasons, but the price on NYX wins by far!! haha

  • I wish I had seen this video before buying a Loreal pigment! AHHH! Oh well. At least I only bought 1 and it was a BOGOF.

Do you happen to know if Nyx chrome e/s and Ultra pearl mania are similar? Which one do you like better?

  • I wish I had seen this video before buying a Loreal pigment! AHHH! Oh well. At least I only bought 1 and it was a BOGOF.

  • OMG you are so right NYX is pronounced niks! When I was Watching your video I was like

"doesn't she know that it's N-Y-X, somebody should let her know". But i did look on the website like you said and you right...it's a noun!

  • L'OREAL HIP??? Oh, yeah! I know what you mean when you say 'Flaky', this will sound funny, but it looks like those 'Mush Putato powder from the box' the one that you just add water, milk and butter? Just the flakes are smaller size. I love my Pearl Mania Pigments and L'oreal is great, too...but not in the pigments.

    Great Review girl!

  • Hmm I dont have any issues with the HIP's. I did have to laugh at the "smash em in" Im a huge fan but kinna agree. Whats the site you said Pearls were a $1 at?

  • cherryculture dotcom

  • Awh man, the NYX are way nicer!

  • hi I have almost all of the loreal pigments and I think there fine. I own all 3 kinds and all products are from different companies so there not gonna be the same. I think they all have diff consistancy but there all good for there own prices. NYX is cheapest and mac is more money it depends on what you wanna spend really. I like them all but loreal isnt as bad as what your saying. You need to put it in the lid and push it down and its powdery then. TY for your review!!

  • Yeah i agree. You kinda have to do the whole "swirl, tap, and buff" the eyeshadow on. I have no problem with the colors, however I do think they are a bit pricey for the amount of product in the container.

  • I just bought my first 2 HIP pigments and i have 2 say that i love them i just put a primer base on before and it stays on all day i think it doesnt matter what brand ur makeup is its jst a matter of how u apply the makeup and where i live the l'oreal HIP is not that much i dnt remember how much exactly i paid but i love them!!!

  • Thanks. I have all 24 nyx, about 7 hip pigments, several MAC pigments, Makeup forever and Bare Escentuals glimmers. I have found the NYX ones to be the lowest quality b/c they seem to be too glittery. I always use them all with a base (Urban Decay's Primer potion or other primer).

  • i have HIP pigment in tenacious, and i love it. it really reminds me of mac pigment. i apply it with my finger.

  • Added my video so you can see how I store my NYX...

  • That is a fantastic idea! Thanks so much for posting it as a response, I think I'll try it out.

  • No problem...

  • can u do a tour of ur bedroom?

oh+ my closet tour is coming soon!

  • I think you pay for the package, not the actual product. I´ve never tried L'Oreal, only NYX, and I have to tell you.. I dont like them. They have a good pigmentation, but too much glitter (I dont know what else to call it, sparkles maybe?) and it´s ALL of them.. Nothing compares to MAC ones. But I still wanna try L'Oreal and I´ll get back here to tell you my experience about it. Thanks for the review, very helpful!

  • Great, I'd love to know what you think of the L'Oreal ones! I don't mind how shimmery the NYX are, but I could definetly see how some might not like that. I love your videos and I'm very flattered that you've subscribed to mine. =o)

  • I think it´s because Brasil is too hot and too 'sunny'.. So if the e/s has a lot of shimmer I would look like a clown in the end of the day. lol.

And I love your videos too, very informative. I love review videos!

  • My HiP shows up pretty well, i have both, but i like to use HiP more because a lot of them have duochrome (i like the one that looks like BlueBrown the best).I don't really use nyx because they are too shiney for my taste and don't blend very well. But for what they're worth they're a pretty good deal.

  • i like both HIP and NYX pigments. the HIP pigments are just as good as NYX and since it already comes in a sifter jar i like HIP a little bit more. i've put my NYX pigments in sifter jars and they just like the HIP. (i.e. flakes) so i don't think its the pigment itself. its the packaging. i have some mac pigment samples in sifters and they look the same too.

  • I looked thats just another interpertation of the name. If you use mac pigments many of them have this "flake" quality to them (such as MAC's rose pigment for example) it is a pigment because it is clearly not a pressed powder, yet it does not have to be the consistency of baby powder for it to work well. You just have to know how to work with these pigments

  • just because the HIP pigments arent powder it dosent mean that they are low quality...its a different type of pigment.

    AND it is pronounced N-Y-X

  • I'm confused by this comment, the HIP pigments are indeed suppose to be a loose eye shadow. That they are flakes and not powder which I assume you are admitting, is one of the reasons I believe them to be low quality. NYX is pronounced Niks, it's on the front page of their website and I'm tired of defending myself over it, go look for yourself.

  • Thanks for doing this, I like the HIP cause I dont like alot of shimmer. I use HIP crayon for a base and it helps show the color alot better. I was thinking about getting the NYX but I can see they would be way to shimmery for me. They look beautiful though, I would have loved them in my younger days =)

  • Hello! I purchased a few of the HIP pigments & I LOVE LOVE LOVE my NYX Pearl shadows!! I just wish they came in more colors than 24!!

  • hey i started watching ur videos but not a subscriber yet.. XD

i love them all! esp. ur BIG makeup collection..

btw.. how old are you? you look young :D

  • I'm 26. =o)

  • i watched this review bc i wanted to try the loreal pigments.i went ahead and swapped for one and found that i love it!! i swapped for even more and now i have 6.well what i have found to work really well with these along with all pigments my brush. i dont use a common e/s brush, i use a brush i got from sephora awhile back called "Small Shader" brush, it's like a TINY concealer brush and it packs on color without storing it into the brush where you waste pigment. and it works awesome even dry!!

  • Its N-Y-X... haha I am kidding. People always try to correct me when I say it Nyx (niks) too. lol. Thanks for the review. I completely agree. L'Oreal pigments are crap. The only way I can get them to work is over a THIN layer of vaseline and then MAC paint.

  • its pronouce n-y-x

  • are you serious? she literally has a video right before this one explaining that it is supposed to be said the way she is pronouncing it

  • oh im sry.

  • i agree totally..the HIP pigments don't show or stick well unless you foil them! NYX is way better quality and color payoff. ~Peace

  • I LOVE my Loreal HiP pigments. I also have Mac Pigments and love all of them. I use Visine (same as a Mixing medium) on my brush first, then apply the pigment. Although I do use the brush that comes with the Loreal pigment, I think it works the best. I have all my mac eye shadow brushes, but love the way the Loreal brush works with the Loreal pigment.

  • thanx 4 sharing...

  • I just bought all 24 nyx pigments...I have 2 of the loreal and don't even use them! Thanks for the review can't wait to get them.

  • Great, let me know how you like them!

  • I agree , I like the NYX better by far, the only way I can get L'Oreal pigments to work is by applying them wet with a sponge applicator and it makes them look a TON better.

  • AWW I was going to get those good thing I didn't!! Thx:)

  • Thank you so much for the detailed review! I'm glad to see new videos. I've transferred the NYX powders in sample jars that I got from ebay, makes it much easier to use. Keep the videos coming!

  • Thanks for the Review. I'll save my money.

  • thanks so much your the best ; )

  • hey! the best way that i apply hip pigments is to use a base then a similar eye shadow color and then the hip pigment bc the pigment sticks better. Also use the brush that the hip pigment came with bc it is made for it.

  • I am really glad you did this review.. I lop HIP shadows,, and I was deciding on if I wanted to get the pigments or not! Now I kno not to get them lol thank you

  • OH and it would also be good if you did some swatches on the NYX and not just the loreal... thanks :)

  • she did both

  • the swatches doesnt do you justice. you shouldve done line streaks to show it.

  • wow thanks for the review...I'm glad I bought the NYX :)

  • o and btw the way only use a little bit on your brush when you wet it because a little bit goes a long way. trust me you'll like it. oo and i recommend the loreal hip pigment in visionary. it is SO SO pretty. you have to get it!

  • i have the same thoughts on the loreal although i do love it! The loreal works SO much better if you wet it. the color ends up wayyy way WAY more vibrant and shiny. so you really need to try to wet some eyeshadows. I have tried the mac pigment and yes i think its rly rly rly good because well its mac lol. but just PLEASE try wetting it and trust me you will be happier with the product. good luck!

  • wow.thats disapointing =( i have heard ALOT of mixed things about the loreal HIP pigments some people said it was better than mac some said the same and some ppl said they hated it.now i dont know if i should get it or not i might get one if that.but the loreal hip eyeliner i love! and i cant buy NYX b/c they dont sell it in arkansas and im not allowed to buy on the internet =( well sorry you wasted your money lol!sell it on makeup ally lol!
