Crystal is a bigger star even if she didn't win on American Idol. I was absolutely SURE she would win the entire thing. But too many teeny boppers voted Lee Dewyze.

It is obvious that Janis had a big influence in Crystal's style of singing. However I think Crystal is going to match that if not top it. I have always been a huge Janis fan. It is refreshing to see a young face that knows what soul really means. Crystal, thank you for being who you are!

She also sang this song and Piece of My Heart opening for the Doobies in SF few days later. In the SF audience were members of Big Brother & the Holding Co. Classic.

I just listened to Janis's original and then went straight to this one and I'm telling you what..Crystal did the best cover ever; she has the depth and soul to match Janis and I am posiitve that if Janis were alive today, she would have been amazed by Crystal and if she were watching American Idol she would have been devastated to see that in 2010 there's a show now that tweens speedial thousands of times each for four hours straight to crown an offkey flat singer instead of Crystal..the Queen!
I could listen to Crystal over and over. I love her style. I was born in the fifties and Joplin was big when I was a teenager. Crystal sounds so much like her, but I actually like Crystal's style and voice better. @Kara899: I will not dispute that Crystal was better than Lee, but please do not even compare Lee to David Cook. Just because they both play the guitar, doesn't mean they're the same. Cook's sense of musicality and vocal ability surpasses Lee by thousand miles. I'm not even going to point out all of Cook's great moments on Idol. Instead, I will direct you to a group performance (Shout To The Lord) when he proved why he is better than the rest of that group.

Season 8, a finale where I was happy for either one. Adam and Kris - crazy talented musically. Adam was superior vocally, Kris put a current spin on songs. Season 9? Not so much. Crystal outperformed Lee, especially in the finale. Hellooo? Up To The Mountain vs. Beautiful PITCHYY Day?

It was a tough decision for me because I liked Crystal, Lee, and Casey. But I ended up voting for Crystal because she was the best. I like all three of them because they are all talented. If you look back at all the past American Idols, all the winners are lost no one has heard of them since. The runner ups are the ones that go on to lead a successful career. So I'm sure that Crystal will land a recording contract and we will hear from her again. And for all the haters you don't know a talented singer if she was standing right in front of you. Crystal in my opinion is a natural when it comes to singing. Also can project her talent on stage. The thing is the other guy who got the title : he chooses great melody/beat songs that is easy on the ear and hide his lack of vocal abilities. Some ppl like it, so thats their opinion, but real music experts would say Crystal's the better singer. And indeed she's more than just better, she's in a class of her own in this season.
@kelamb141 Who wants another Janis Joplin in 2010? That's why she lost. She sounded dated and boring (when she wasn't screeching her way through songs). She could sing the hell out of a ballad though, I'll give her that. Lee is current, talented, made good choices and won the vote. He deserved to win and was my favorite from day one.

So true, all you wrote about Lee and btw he has the worst first week sales in Idol history of not only all winners but also all runner ups! As bad as Sweet Serendipity is, most of the other songs are far worse. Crystal was totally burned! After he butchered Beautiful Day Simon said the shows about giving somebody who needs it a break..what happened to beiang about talent!!

I hope people don't forget about Crystal by the time her album comes out in December. Lee didn't deserve to win by any means!! He is just a mess, and so is his first single 'Sweet Serendipity.' It's this awful little Pop contraption that I'm sure his new label managers made him record. Crystal is just better on all aspects of an artist. Voice, style, charisma, and lasting appeal. Little girls who voted for Lee can vote on this show a million times, but they can only buy his album once.

I just listened to Janis's original and then went straight to this one and I'm telling you what..Crystal did the best cover ever; she has the depth and soul to match Janis and I am posiitve that if Janis were alive today, she would have been amazed by Crystal and if she were watching American Idol she would have been devastated to see that in 2010 there's a show now that tweens speedial thousands of times each for four hours straight to crown an offkey flat singer instead of Crystal..the Queen!

I could listen to Crystal over and over. I love her style. I was born in the fifties and Joplin was big when I was a teenager. Crystal sounds so much like her, but I actually like Crystal's style and voice better. She's so new and fresh and I hope she stays true to herself and keeps singing the way she does and doesn't give in to the record industry that will want to make her a pop star instead of who she really is and how she sings.. @Kara899: I will not dispute that Crystal was better than Lee, but please do not even compare Lee to David Cook. Just because they both play the guitar, doesn't mean they're the same. Cook's sense of musicality and vocal ability surpasses Lee by thousand miles. I'm not even going to point out all of Cook's great moments on Idol. Instead, I will direct you to a group performance (Shout To The Lord) when he proved why he is better than the rest of that group.

Season 8, a finale where I was happy for either one. Adam and Kris - crazy talented musically. Adam was superior vocally, Kris put a current spin on songs. Season 9? Not so much. Crystal outperformed Lee, especially in the finale. Hellooo? Up To The Mountain vs. Beautiful PITCHYY Day?

It was a tough decision for me because I liked Crystal, Lee, and Casey. But I ended up voting for Crystal because she was the best. I like all three of them because they are all talented. I hope that they all have great music careers. And Crystal will be a big star. A voice like hers doesn't come along every day. She is a great singer and performer.

If you look back at all the past American Idols, all the winners are lost no one has heard of them since. The runner ups are the ones that go on to lead a successful career. So I'm sure that Crystal will land a recording contract and we will hear from her again. And for all the haters you don't know a talented singer if she was standing right in front of you. You listen to what the music industry pushes down your throat and you like it. Listen with your ears and not the music industry's.

Crystal in my opinion is a natural when it comes to singing. Also can project her talent on stage. The thing is the other guy who got the title : he chooses great melody/beat songs that is easy on the ear and hide his lack of vocal abilities. Some ppl like it, so thats their opinion, but real music experts would say Crystal's the better singer. And indeed she's more than just better, she's in a class of her own in this season.

She could sing the hell out of a ballad though, I'll give her that. Lee is current, talented, made good choices and won the vote. He deserved to win and was my favorite from day one.

Crystal has a soft and pure nice touch to her voice which is why i like her. She deserved to win because she was the most consistant and proved each week to why she should win.
