im trying to create the 95 indians as well on mlb the show 11...would you be able to email me and give me some pointers on which batting and pitching styles to use and what pitches to give each pitcher? wicked_spades23@yahoo
Thome going for 600 this year. Dennis Martinez had an even better stretch in his 30s. Orel and his scoreless streak in the awesome year of 1988 when Canseco did the 40/40 situation, and Gibson make my prediction of the Dodgers winning the first game of the series a reality =) Don't forget Dennis Eckersley, who at one point was better than Rivera; of course, Rivera has been better than Eck during the post season; ask the mentioned Gibson =)
hahaha this is awesome man, lived in cleveland all my life, these were the good days the 1995 team was magical. good job gettin the positions and lineups right. cool shit right here brotha.
@PUCK271 Sandy alomar was hurt alot in 1995 and was given alotta days off, tony pena was a regular fill in, i wouldnt say they split time 50-50 but it was def 60-40. pena wasnt much of a hitter lol, but i remember in extra innings against the sox in the playoffs in 95 he hit a walkoff homerun, awesome night.
cleveland were amazing, they had 8 people in the starting line up with 300 or above average. omar did not hit 300 but it doesnt matter considering he was one of the best short stops in MLB. then we had charles naggy, orel hershire, jose mesa, dennis martinez in their pitching staff and what not
@xhayesamaniax I actually think talent-wise, the 1999 team was better. They had Lofton, Vizquel, both Alomars, Fryman, Sexson, Thome, Justice, Ramirez and their pitching was better with Jaret Wright, Dave Burba, Bartolo Colon, and Nagy in the rotation and Steve Karsay and Ricardo Rincon in the bullpen. A lot of big names (at the time) there. They scored over 1,000 runs and won the division by 21 games.
Progressive Field? Really? I am no where close to an Indians fan and I have to say, Jacobs Field was a kick ass name with that stadium....Progressive Field...Kills it..
Progressive Field?! WTF?! If this is the supposed to be the 1995 Indians, why are they commentarying it as Progressive? Shouldn't it be Jacob's Field?!
@Kdubslugga I agree but personally i would take the 1980 browns offense and the 1986 Browns defense (with Don Rogers) in one package. That would be a sick team---The Kardiac Kids offense and the Dawg Defense
@HABI7A7 Game 7 of the 97 ws was probably the most entertaining ws game of all time. It's that perfect moment, that scenario that you'd set up as a kid playing ball: "Game seven. Extra Innings. Two outs...." Even though the Indians lost, it was a spectacular thing to be a part of, as a Clevelander.
@EeVvAaNn3 Wow! Look at that lineup. Just goes to show you, no matter how great the talent, Cleveland is cursed never to win ANY kind of sports championship ... EVER. Good thing LeBron left. Cleveland SUX! Woooooooo!!!
hey man, awesome job, don't listen to these nit-pickers. It's 10 mins of video and they have all these dumb questions about bullpen or bench guys (WTF???). still waiting for a game to be developed where you can play in classic stadiums no longer in existence, the ultimate retro.
@RetroBoyWontDie There are a few. I know the MLB 2K games in the mid 2000s had some. All Star Baseball 2000 or 2001 had some old parks too. MLB 10: The Show has a few retro parks, but you have to earn them by doing something ridiculous, or buying them for $5. While I don't like that, I could understand it, because I know some people would fork over the money for them. Unfortunately, as a poor college student, I don't even have enough for the game, let alone the stadiums.
Tony Pena was the starting catcher that year believe it or not. But Alomar still played a decent amount of games. And despite the Indians good team that year. They didn't start off 15-2. It wasn't till about late May that they began to take off with their record. They reached 50 wins by like the middle of June.
My favorite team of all time! Go Tribe! I loved Albert Belle. No Homo. He was awesome! One of the most underrated, and forgotten Homerun hitters of all time. I am still looking for a reasonably priced Belle Jersey. Theres a guy on Ebay that wants almost a hundred bucks for one. Im sure if I took a trip to Ohio, I could find one at some bargain bin for cheap.
@kingsmith14 That is IGNORANT, especially on an Indians video. Granted, I'm not a Tribe fan anymore, but there are a lot of rabid Tribe fans who are still bitter about the World Series loss to Atlanta in '95. I was four years old at the time, so you can imagine how I felt.
I was injured this past summer, and I created players and edited players to make an all time greats roster for every team. Its beast playing franchise mode with it, because its a simulation of the best franchises of all time
Yeah...what Cleveland greats are those? Dolan has ruined this team. The only decent players we have are Sizemore (if he recovers from surgery) and Cabrera. With the pitching we have, we're going to get smacked around.
Iknow what you might be thinking that the Indians wilnev return to to form but I really like the young guys that Clevland has for exampe David Huff. Left handed pitcher
Yea, MLB The Show is a Sony exclusive. As far as the highlighted area, it's in the options somewhere. I can't remember exactly where though. I think it's called the Plate Coverage Indicator or something like that.
It took a while. What I ended up doing was just editing the players in AA and AAA, so they were already on the Indians. Then I had to change the rosters for the 3 teams to put everyone in the MLB.
Kenny Lofton (CF), Omar Vizquel (SS), Carlos Baerga (2B), Albert Belle (LF), Eddie Murray (DH), Jim Thome (3B), Paul Sorrento (1B), MANNY RAMIREZ (8th spot!) (RF), Sandy Alomar Jr. (C)
Bench
Wayne Kirby, Rueben Amaro, Tony Pena, Alvaro Espinoza, Jesse Levis
Pitching
Orel Hershiser, Charles Nagy, Dennis Martinez, Jim Poole, Paul Assenmacher, Ken Hill, Jose Mesa, Paul Shuey
Thats not true. After they won the ALCS that year I had the paper taped to my bedroom door with the lineup right next to it.
Besides. I recall a game vs Toronto where Thome barely beat out a game ending double play and then Sorrento jacked one out of the park. Tribe won 8 to 7 I believe.
They may have changed the lineup around a little bit, but for the most part, at least during the regular season, Sorrento was 8th and Ramirez was 7th.
just for future reference, Nagy was known for his sinker. he was a very similar pitcher to jake westbrook. might want to add similar pitches to his attributes.
yea. it took a long time and a few of them still look a little off, but overall i think they turned out pretty good. eventually im going to get around to doing a few other teams from that season
google, baseball cards, etc. you can find pretty much everyone, just a few of them have pretty generic names so its a little bit harder to find. plus i tried to find action pictures too, like pitchers in their windups, and hitters in their batting stances, and basically just pictures that show their accessories and stuff
no i just used the normal create-a-player feature. i just used the pictures i found as a comparison to make the players look as close as possible to what they actually look like
No, if it was anything it was the lack of pitching...not Hargroves fault. That guy had to deal with some insane personalities and egos on those teams... Belle, Alomar, Vizquel, Rameriez, Tavarez, etc. it's mazing their weren't more blow ups in those locker rooms.
True, but it's the managers responsibility to keep all those egos in check and get them to be a team. Greats like Joe Torre, Terry Francona, and Tony La Russa were all able to do this.
