  • It's not even 4'33"...

  • DREAM THEATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Your penchant for (funny!) sarcasm and (deserved!) ridicule is awesome! Love your style. Absolutely fuckin' A brilliant!!!

  • Tabs please

  • Do you have tabs for this?

  • best parody of it

  • What a stupid cunt.

  • How do you fail at performing 4'33''? Really? HOW?!?!

  • Exquisite!

  • Dream Theater and John Cage fan?

We have so much to talk...

  • I like how...

My favorite mortal kombat player. LOL

  • Isn't this supposed to be in 3 movements??? WTF???

  • Meh, your interpretation of 4'33" needed less cow bell...

  • My favorite part was when you started. My next favorite part was the end. Bravissimo.

  • apart from missing the last awesome minute, you got the time signature wrong. Who told you it's a 4/4? :P

  • So amazing!!

  • You sped up midway through. Metalheads. :/

  • It was quite fast sir. Make sure you focus on tempo, dude!

  • it was pretty fast, but i kinda liked it

  • I think it should have been shot darker, with at least some horror special effects or maybe a fog machine.... It wasn't Death Metal enough. But it sounded pretty close to the original. Nice try!

  • Tighten up that snare.

  • he doesnt do anything....

this is not death metal version at all, nor is it the full piece, you are at least eight measures short....

  • Be my master! Teach me! Great cover btw :D f**k haters! And thumbs up!

  • youve got some mad skills that was amazing.

  • Mad props to you sir, not many people can play this, I love the death metal spin on it too, truly inspirational.

  • This guy is nothing special. I can do this in my sleep.

  • This.. is... so... intense...

  • great job but work on the middle part

  • I wouldn't mind if this version of the song was played at my wedding.

  • Wow, I never thought I'd find myself listening to this kind of music! A fantastic piece of work, man! Well done. :)

  • It would have been funny if during the outtakes, he just busts out some George Kollias shit.

  • incredible

  • When i see the toms like that,i know i will be gt trolled by a shithead drummer wannabe...

  • DREAM THEATER!!! GOOD MAN...

  • fail! EPIC FAIL! you've played it too fast!

  • master!

  • How quickly you put the drumsticks back into your lap made me laugh way too hard

  • love the out takes ...ha ha

  • the video is only 3:21......

  • Since you're being a contemporary music nerd, may I add to the party? I think Cage was more of an experimental composer than a minimalist. That being said, and based on your intro, you could have been a bit more repetitive in your performance to better suite the style of music you hope to play here.

  • SLOW DOWN ASSHOLE!

  • It's not 4:33...

  • Fucking brutal man! I never imagined John Cage's pieces to ever work with this kind of genre! It's a shame you missed out on a couple of bits though, but I suppose Death Metal is meant to be fast!

  • I like that they actually put the name of the original artist to the bottom right of the video.

  • Loved it!

  • You forgot the coughs.

  • You played it too fast.

  • ....

  • "I don't claim to be the best player." Yeah, after those outtakes you better not.

  • that chair he used looks like my g-ma's

  • so much mistakes

  • Love the solo!! lml

  • Nice shirt! Fanatastic performance, not exactly the same feel as seeing live in concert with out any previous knowledge of it but still good! If you ever decide to do i again try to get some white noise in there like clocks and wind.

  • hahaha. Excellent range and volume, great technique, but watch out for those pesky drums. Don't want to wake the neighbors.

  • Just fuckin awesome. My neck hurts now bro!

  • This is absolutely the worst performance of 4'33" I've ever seen. You left out the whole last minute, which is the best part.

  • @jonfitforbattle That's where you're wrong, he just performed it faster than usual

  • @jonfitforbattle In John Cage's notes of the original score, he says that the timing can actually be adjusted to whatever length or tempo the conductor chooses. I think Mr. Edo did a fabulous job.

  • Pokerface

  • You played it a bit fast

  • Such a shame you played only the first two minutes...

  • RIP headphone users This was WAY TOO LOUD!

  • If SOPA were passed would you still be able to perform this?

  • amaze

  • nerd

  • IS THIS A JOKE?

  • @1987ulise BWHAHAAHAHAHAHAH!!!!

John Cage was a genius when he wrote this. It was a piece of music to show what music really was. Music is sound. There are sounds made in this. Why did John cage write it to be 4 minutes and 33 seconds? Because the amount of seconds in this piece is supposed to be 273 seconds. Well that just so happens to be the degrees Fahrenheit that absolute Zero is.

  • @jjohnwsales Yeah, except it's -273 Celcius.

  • So hardcore, I might check out the original after watching how brutal this was.

    (ps ICWYDT)

  • I was waiting for that MK joke to be made eventually.

lol This joke never ends does it.

P.S. I love that DT album.

  • Absolutely hilarious. Nice!

  • How did you manage to fit 4'33 into a 3:21 video? Nice job letting your a/c unit handle the most demanding parts.

  • @IepsyI On the score (yes, there's a score), John Cage specified that the piece may be performed however long necessary.

  • @frankentomato - so why is it called 4'33 then!?!?

  • @helraizer Because that was how long it was at the original performance.

  • you made me laugh so hard in the end! "deaaaaaath metaaaaal"

  • I think you did't reach 4'33", but it's a pretty good performance

(oh jeah metal always goes a little bit faster... than classical music)

  • you need a little work on the refrain. you just barely pulled it off

  • is that how you play it?! Fuck I messed up on the second movement bad!

  • The piece maintains a consistent tone throughout.

  • this is the music i beat off to.

  • Jesus on a drum-kit, does life get any better?

  • minimalist composer?!

you don't know what you are talking about...

  • @antonvonwebern oh look! a genius.

  • @jaretthale78 ehi, man! if this guy says "one of my favourite composers",probably he has to know what he's talking about! well,i'm not a genius but i know cage's not a minimalist!

you can say a lot of things on cage's works, philosophy and all his influence on contemporary music but not that he is a minimalist.. you don't have to be a genius to know this.

it's like saying that marilyn manson is a hardcore punk singer!

  • I dunno, I would call that prog really.

  • This video isn't 4:33.

  • @manka6 But he's playing a faster, death metal cover.

  • @MisterM2402 Hurr

  • where are the tabs??

  • Could've been a bit more expressive in the middle part, dynamics were good throughout though.

  • trollololol

  • I enjoyed it but perhaps you could have given it some more variety? Don't get me wrong, the dynamics were good - I'm thinking more about articulation.

  • Do you have the sheet music?

  • Jajajajajajajajaja!

  • Real funny (: Loved the outtakes at the end. *Deeeeaaath metalll*

  • HAHA wonderful, I love it, I totally love the idea :D

  • 31 people are too stupid to understand performance art and should be executed.

  • Cage was not a minimalist composer. Forshizzle!!

  • Be careful, you made a mistake @ 1:48 when you moved your leg.

  • @xkcdHatGuy If he made a noise, that's the whole point of the piece. It's not about silence, but what ambient noises happen during the 4'33

  • I love the facepalm at the end :D

  • Comment removed

  • holy crap that was.. amazing!!! Where did you learn to play like that?!?

  • 30 people don't get it

  • Comment removed

  • I like the screw-up. OOPPSS accidentally played music!!

  • Brilliant!

  • Ahahaha.

  • dream theater :D

  • you totally nailed it, great work!!

  • The thing to remember is actually listening.

  • You are just a ridiculously sloppy player. 1:50... just inexcusably sloppy. I could play it ten times better than you. lol

  • You've got it. ...

  • ...

  • The original is in three movements- David Tudor (the pianist who premiered the piece) indicated this fact with body language during his performance

The only sense in which you can compare John Cage and Philip Glass is in that they are both Americans

  • @Millsz42 : yes, there are three movements in this piece, but i like this performance, too, because there is no break in the musical impression of this piece...

  • I've heard better.

  • You need more cowbell!

  • I could have gotten it down on my 2nd try

  • i lost it at the foot closeup

  • It's awesome to know that at least some people have personalities :D keep on rockin!

    death metal......

  • You are a disgrace to the ideas of John Cage. Do you have any concept of why or how this piece was composed? I bet without Google, you don't. What a poor attempt at a joke. You only make yourself look like a musically ignorant person. Also, your foot made a sound at 1:50.

  • @BobTheBlender000001 You're such a pretentious twat. Cage wrote 4'33" and literally says that he has "nothing to say". It's just chance music.

  • @doctorxsandwich Exactly... it's raw music without any guidance.

  • @BobTheBlender000001 Who the hell are you and what makes you think you're so entitled?

  • @BobTheBlender000001 that foot noise was part of his interpretation

  • this song always gets stuck in my head when i'm tryna sleep

  • -eargasm-

  • Sweet shirt

  • your feet were sloppy...

  • Awesome.

  • At all the people who think he plays too fast: It's death metal. Of course it's faster than the original classical piece.

  • This is one of the best things I have ever seen

  • truely art at it's best

  • dont play so fast!!!

  • You played it way too fast. All the notes ran together.

  • @EmbraceTheThunder Switch to HD, it will sound better and clearer then.

  • 4' 33" Also makes for an amusing visual experience.

  • this has the best guitar solo in

  • The rage made me involuntarily raise my fists towards the screen. This cover is an Ark of the Covenant-class revelation. My face is melted.

  • in all seriousness, i like it. and also it's a good cover. The "faster" i think is kinda brilliant. but also, the only other time I ever saw 433 covered (i was in the audience live, mind you) was by a rather serious artist who, if you can believe this, fucked it up. The pretentious art audience was like "ooh" and got mad at people making ambient noise because they didn't know what 433 was, and the artist called attention to herself unnecessarily.

  • @emergencystopping I think this piece might be the most difficult to "play correctly" in front of an audience not familiar with it beforehand. That0s why it translates better on an album than live, lol

  • nice drum solo

  • tutorial please

  • Needs more cowbell.

  • thank you for proving the worthlessness of john cage's 4'33". indeed it is a joke that was never funny

  • Brutal!

  • brilliant.. just brilliant.

  • Intense.

  • love the grooves on this 1 mate! smooth grooves my son!

  • Excellent performance, great acoustics.

  • This is my wedding song

  • I love the fact that this was in HD

  • Beautiful

  • The original tempo is 60, so it's not a half. It's the full thing played fast as hell. That's the meaning of death metal cover.

  • @guyfromhell666 keep trolling troll

  • Why you didn't play the complete piece??? Poor Asshole

  • Perhaps a bit uneven around 02:08, but otherwise, very good job!

  • Could I use this as a backing track?

  • this rocks man!

  • Best. Cover. Ever!

  • DREAM FUCKING THEATER

  • Очень быстрый темп, я такого недолюбливаю

  • Bitch I can play this on the triangle.

  • mmm, you should play a death metal version of Ligeti or Penderecki

  • ODIOT ARG

  • @nighthawk41 is right, the song is in 3/4. And not that it matters for drums, but it's written in F

  • Better than Lars.

  • I have never heard it played so well, even if it is perhaps a little bit to fast.

  • brilliant.

  • You counted 4 at the beginning. The song is actually in 3/4.

This post isn't a joke... Look up the sheet music
