For the record, I first remember seeing this as a clip on the BBC's Commerical Breakdown show (also possibly Tarrant on TV), but I can't remember what it was actually for. The gist of the advert was essentially the same as here, but for something similar to QI, probably not even British.
Liar! This never aired as a QI trail. That tag at the end is obviously one that the uploader has tagged on themselves (hence the misprint). Also note the lack of official "BBC2" logos.
UK Television has a "watershed" definition on how they air shows. If a show is aired in the "watershed", then such stuff as profanities and nudity must be censored. If it's aired outside the watershed, then the producers of the program can get away with certain (if not all) things.
HAHAH! This may be one of the funniest commercials for a TV show ever produced - bloody hilarious! They should, however, have hired a better proofreader - they misspelled the word "surprising" in the copy at the end. Aside from the poor proofreading, British comedy FTW!
Except that in the ad it's completely missing the first "r". They've spelled it "suPrising", not "suRprising." Unless that's a British variance I'm not aware of.
sorry about that. trying to be smart obviously doesn't suit me. I doubt they would have let that pass unnoticed, so I have to wonder if it was ever aired?
I'm always amused when huge, well-budgeted organizations let typos run in finished products. Being a graphic designer has made me sensitive - for better and worse :)
Actually, horses cant vomit either, according to the horses and hunting episode of QI :)

No it is spelt surprising in British English, surprizing in American English. So guess that makes the ad flawless!
