  • Today we live in a generation with techno and something other shit music...

I wish i can live in that time where my dad had his good times. :)

    Very good song

  • who feels lost i do

  • ellinas ->

  • My girlfriend loves rock music.... I love dance music....

Ahhh... What you wouldn't do for love........ :)

  • here we go again , its saturday night , come dancing and x factor . thank good for coverdale a co to save us .

  • I agree. The saints and sinners album has heart and soul. It sucks when the record companys make demands about marketing and forget about the real reason why David Coverdale sings. I love his voice so much. He is my favorite

  • this can't be 1983... this song didn't come out till 1987.. no?

  • @Greg4fun this song was released on 1982's Saints and Sinners album. Then it was re-recorded in 1987. The earlier version is so much better. It doesn't have the overproduction and posing that the latter produced.

  • @Greg4fun In addition, David Coverdale completely gutted the band in 1984 due to pressure from record execs to give the group a more marketable look. Needless to say, Coverdale is the only remaining member from this lineup that re-recorded the song a handful of years later.

  • @Greg4fun yes, this song was written years before it was released

  • David Coverdale...the great Hard N'Heavy voice of all time ;)

  • gosh he reminds me alot of robert plantz

  • superb!!!!!!!great song,great voice

  • AWESOME!!!watch my guitar cover:)))

  • Como te amo David, como te amo, you are the one and only, you are amazing, your voice is like heaven

  • Why wasnt I alive during this era.... D:

  • @Joviz1234 i was three years old back there... that's why I broke up repeat button today.

  • @Joviz1234 why me too D:

  • THIS.....IS MUSIC!!!

  • ike a what i was born to walk alone? on the album its like a drifter i was born to walk alone

  • @Tinker8177 Hobo. They revamped it later and turned it into drifter.

  • @Tinker8177 yeah this is the original version it was re recorded

  • I love this voice!

  • HAMMOND! :D

  • My mum was there!

  • @louisa1994x I remember your mum digididigidi :*

  • @DoncinaS

    yeah me too, hot thing

  • @louisa1994x Which means that you are probably the offspring of Dave Coverdale! Kudos!

  • i liked it better when he says "like a drifter..."

  • @pikiwiki In an interview, Coverdale claimed he changed the lyric because he was afraid people would think he was saying "homo" instead of "hobo"

  • @cubby3o5 that's funny

  • @cubby3o5 still an epic song.

  • This song will also live 4 ever...

  • Yes it is Jon Lord..... It is an original Whitesnake song but I don't think I have ever heard a cover version......

  • that is totally deep purples keyboardist.

but im pretty sure people covered that....

  • The synthesizer part of this song was awesome in the original. Every time they try to perform it on stage or live, it never has the exact sound, which was awesome in itself. Too bad they lose that in their newer versions.

  • @canyoubelievethis220 Its not a synth its a hammond organ one of the most distinct keyboards in rock

  • @therealtuvok

Of course it is a Hammond Organ. I could have told you that even if I was half deaf. I am talking about the original one - the one on CD - that, my little friend, is not a Hammond Organ making that sound. It's definitely a synthesizer but which one? It's awesome. BTW - I hate a hammond organ sounds. Sounds too old fashioned.

  • if you are referring to the 1987 album that was a remake The original version was on Sinner and Saints album which came out in 1982 Jon lord left the band around 1984 to rejoin deep purple. Old fashioned my ass there is a reason you still here hammond on recordings in present day maybe cheesy synth pads work for you but as a keyboardist I love my hammond and my leslie when overdriven nothing sounds as evil no synth has the balls of a B3 listen to highway star solo from deep purple thats rock

  • @therealtuvok

Shouldn't have been so low as to speak badly about the Hammond organ, but I am definitely into the new sounds and strings, for sure. When I played an organ when I was younger, it was a Hammond and the Leslie was truly awesome back then. Love to hear it used for black gospel. Nothing like a black gospel song, for sure. Thanks for the Jon Lord info. Will definitely listen to highway star. Thanks for the pointers.

  • dang, good audio quality

  • Cool

  • 21 people need to go.

  • is that deep purple"s keyboardist??

  • @leftenanmudawhyu Deep Purple and Whitesnake keyboardist/hamond/piano player mr Lord yes

  • kraakd, ok now we know

  • " Like a homo, I was born to walk alone." 80s Rock HAHAHA

  • @kraakd he said ''hobo'' not homo. Because people doesn't understand what he saying he change to ''drifter''

  • For me this is one of the Ever Best rock Songs all over , Just so Awesome and Soulfull, My English is not that good to Subscribe it right , sorry .

  • without DC... there is NO WHITESNAKE!

  • 1983 .. YEP .... this song describes my life and many many many others to .... keep on GOING !!

The feeling this guys put in all their songs is just incredible !!

30 years after ... it still sounds GREAT !

  • Takes me back love this song :-)

  • WHITESNAKE !!!

  • Man. Too much Improv. Drummer is all all over the place. backing vocals are too high in the mix, sounds all gospel and shit. Too much cocaine me thinks. har har. Still love these guys tho. Slide it in right to the top!

  • i KNOW MY BROTHERS WILL ALWAYS LOVE THIS,,,DEAD OR ALIVE!!!cHEERS!!!

  • this brings back some memories. I was at Donnington in 83 - 15 and it was my first proper festival

  • @Ryanmetalmatthew

I hear you! The word 'hobo' was in the original lyrics, but he decided against it, as people might poke fun of the song and go, 'Ha Ha , homo'. You know how pathetic some people are.

Respect to Coverdale for changing the lyrics back.

  • @Ryanmetalmatthew The words, drifter and hobo, don't really change the song that much. Somebody told me that the hobo was changed so it won't be confused with homo. Maybe the record label made them do it for that reason. There are two different mixes of the album, Slide It In, which the record label label made them do.

  • listening to this song makes me want to knock someone out... hahaha

  • @rAtzeYez777 haha

  • I saw them play in Nuremberg W. Germany in Sept of '83 and was in the Army at that time. Great show. I'll be ready and willin' to see Whitesnake again with this line up.

  • If you dislike this one, please just let me know, just reply to this comment, and tell me where are you from ... i'll fucking kill you

  • Cozy Powell on the drums? Thought Ian Paice was the skinsman for the period

  • LOVEEEE this song

  • lady's a gentlemen live and i concert the new audio tuner for 2010 too bad thats all we hear a live shows by todays artists!

  • Realemente Whitesnake me gusta sobre todo antes del album 1987. La primera versión de esta canción supera, para mi gusto y con creces, a la posterior.

  • Great version of this song, I really do not like the newer versions they released over the years, this is pure classic!

  • The chorus is the best part of the song in my opinion, but why to change the tune of it ?!!!

  • Its the best song by withesnake and David is so sexy!!!!!

  • The backup vocals get in the way. They sound like hillbillies..... This song still rocks though!

  • The sound doesn't fit the the video. If you look at the drummer from 1:40 and onwards, you see that the sound doesn't fit in...

  • notice that here he says like a hobo i was born to walk alone, on the 87 album he said like a twister...

  • @VinpassoCP He says drifter on the album.

  • *laff*. I never said Sykes did NOT play on the record. I said he didn't play the solo on

Here I go Again, which was played by Vandenberg.

  • Hey you, if you have at least half that Coverdale had, just call me. Greetings Brazil/Italy.

  • Easily the best song ever written.
