I think my husband is a Hermaphroditic. He has a penis, but I am wondering if inside he is also female.  Does that make any sense? And there is a code of how to cut and style hair and what type of and how to wear clothes to adhere to that gender segregated standard/law. This person is in this clip dressed in DRAB. Also.. it depends on the condition you have wether you are fertile or no. Some can have kids, some can't.

wow.....so can't your parents like get one of the parts removed at birth? they get to like choose what sex u will be 0.0 but then later in life they might have chosen the wrong sex....ughh its sooo confusing! we learned about this in biology with all the genetics there's alot of things that can go wrong with genes, my brother has a genetic muscle disease

well its hard to exsplian becouse as far as I and my doctors know im the only one of my kind , my breast are a little larger then normal males I dont have the adams apple that males have , I do have a normal penis and ballsack , but the anus and vagina are allmost combined into one . all my bodly functions work perfectly . As far as external presentation-- I call it hybrid because it looks between...not large enough to be a penis but to large to be a clit. It looks more like a huge clit externally but functions more like a penis with ejaculation ability and rare erections...very rare.

Well after surgery it really never ejaculates anymoe and erections are pretty much gone...but it used to when the vessicles were in tact.

I do want a mate for the emotional and spiritual needs...and I have sexual fantasies which based on my physical reality can never come true...but I have no physical sexual drive based on anatomy which doesn't work--hence I am asexual physically.

Because the external presentation appears more typically female it might have been easier to go that way and just be considered freakishly endowed...but I would not have really felt right that way.

So I am one of those 19 who happen to be a chimeric true hermaphrodite. A case which is typed 46XY+46XX (twins two DNA in one body). When I had my first surgery they took out 3 internal gonads. One internal testis, one ovary and one ovotestis. I was told none of these were functional and would pose a cancer risk ..hence they were removed. It was suspected that I had 4 but they never found the 4th structure ..it is asssumed to have atrophied.

Basically, the magazine new scientist reports that 40 chimeras have been found at the time they printed that article. roughly half are hermaphrodite the other half assumed to be either double male or double female.

Keep in mind that Chimerism was not even considered a real human possibility until around the years 2000. This is probably why there is such a lack of this. It was not tested for and often labs would chalk up chimeric typings to lab error calling miscategorizing them into other types of IS conditions "with anomolies and artifacts".

The deal is I am my own twin...I have two sets of DNA rather than one...92 instead of 46. I have 46 from dad and 46 from mom...rather than the normal 23 from each parent.

There is a documentary on utube called "I AM MY OWN TWIN" five parts that discuss some of the better known cases of non hermaphrodetic chimerism. Two well known cases of double female 46XX+46XX. There are other chimeric combinations that are not hermaphrodite: 46XX+46XX; 46XY+46XY, 46XX + 45XO, 46 XX + 46 XXX...and possibly 46 XY+ 46XXY.

But to the best of my understanding a chimeric hermaphrodite is one who is typed as 46XY+46XX or 46XY+45XO. In my case it is complete chimerism as I suspect would be the case in 46XY+46XX types. I assume that 46XY+45XO would default to a mostly male external presentation with some anomolies in function and variance internally.

If that child lives it will be a story of true triumph. At least, I am fully one "race or color". I have seen 3 cases during medical rotations of "atypical klienf" in each they presented completely male externally but possesses eith ovaries or ovary/ovotestis...rather than the assumed normative testis.

The majority of XXY have male typical bodies externally but internally they are herm... they can have two overies...two ovotestis..a mix of both ovotestis and ovary tissue. The condition is called Klienfelters. So they are seen as men externally but internally they are hermaphrodites. They is a typical case presentation of 47XXY. I assume they can be slight variations of this as far as presentation externally. All conditions have degrees of variance.

More common forms of herm like XXY can happen roughly every 2000 births and those cases tend to look more like males....but they are hermaphrodites. Many of them feel a strong inclination to be female and do pursue that route. They have 47 chromosomes. 47XXY. They are seen as male in the medical world because most often that is how the body presents and they have a full set of dna that is seen more male typical with a "fluke" of an extra X which makes the karaotype count 47..not 46.

There are many IS conditions that are not classified as Hermaphrodism. Many people can have a mix of physical sexuality traits that vary from male/female who might be IS but not actually be hermaphrodite. I would say most CAIS/PAIS cases are IS not Herm. Hermaphrodites have a mix of internal repro's...they can look any number of way externally. It is rare for a person to have both external sexes physically. More common a Herm has internal mix but is one sex externally.

Every hermaphrodite is different. Some people have enlarged clitoris, others can be born male but their scrotum never descends. Brian has both but he is very unique. He was very brave and shows his genitalia on the DVD and how it works. I don't know about the chromosomes. Karyotyped genetic biological sex or DNA chromosomal sex really has little to do with either gender identitiy or for that matter sexuality formation. Generally people are born with verifiable conditions which can be detected via medically based evidence/diagnostic testing. DNA test can be done on tissue samples and medical exams can determine one's physical sex. Sexuality is a mind thing not a body thing. I see gender as a spiritual/psychological issue. 3 layers not 1.

Many Intersexed Identify with hermaphrodite. I am one who prefers True-Hermaphrodite over all other terminology. Often too many assume the usage of Hermaphrodite is offensive. honestly those who have the most issues with the H word are those intersexed individuals who are ashamed of what they are.
