I haven't had to chop, yet. It's easy for me to have a hair trigger w/the handles, though. I STILL rent (yeah, it sux). Being a low timer, I'd rather play it conservative. I've read enough incident reports about more experienced guys N gals losing alt awareness when they needed it most.

@neomuttley Why? If you open relatively high you have plenty of time to try and untwist. As long as you are alt. aware... I'd chop at 2500.
Still your decision would be perfect, highest priority is getting yourself under a stable canopy.
Chopping high and be under a stable canopy is -at least- as good as a choice as trying to untwist and -maybe make it- or otherwhise chop in time ;)

me too, the toggles had knotted up by the time i had most of the twists out. height was about 1500 feet.

i almost reckon you could put an intermission in there between kicking out twist 53 and 54 :)
