@igessthsisgrwnup What I'm trying to say is that too many people pretend to like it. I'm not saying that's you, but Zorn's reasons and methods are his own and people shouldn't pretend to understand his music if they really don't. I don't think jazz is mindless bullshit.

Squeaks, squeals and other sounds don't immediately qualify him as a musician. His other compositions do, however.

@pebblefrog196 i know youve listened to naked city and such right? well coming from the more naked city side of things, i really enjoy them, i enjoy alot of "noise" music like the locust and w/e but the point is, he is influenced by alot of different types of music, so is everyone else. some people are attracted to what others are not.

He does this because it's what comes easiest to him. He has to do no work to produce this, it's all play for him. But that's not how life, in general, works. Every great musician did what they did because they worked their respective asses off.

He owes A TON to Ornette. It's Ornette heads and sonic /trash solos...he's just knocking stuff over. He's encumbered with too much technique. I've already forgotten what he played, (no depth, no vulnerability). Ornette sang songs of beauty and heartbreak. I can feel them. For composing, I listen to early Tim Berne late '80's -late 90's.
