  • DUDE! i go to scarlet oaks and we pass this every day going home. it went off while we were on the bus. it was fucking loud dude.

  • you're saying you pass by this particular siren?

  • yup, its on the side of a highway by a church right? coz if so, then i do. it looks alot like the one we pass.

  • Actually. this one is along Winto Road, not a highway. I think you're thinking of the one that's along I-275 in Springdale next to Temple Baptist Church. This one in the video is in Springfield Township. Is the one you see right over a sound barrier/wall?

  • yes. then im seeing that one. if u could post a video of them testing the one near the church, then that would be great. the next test should be soon. but i still live in spring feild township.

  • actually, i probably won't be able to until july 2010. i might get a day off during the winter, but i probably won't want to go far from home

  • @lordjames78 you need to stop swearing

  • @kbobsdaddy says who? Are you someone i know? Because if so, then go to hell. If not, then please repeat the last step. Thank you.

  • They can also sound a signal called fire, which is basically just attack, but longer cycles, and they can growl as well.

  • Don't forget fast wail, lol

  • The Wind-Up sounds like the Silent hill siren

  • @rhett443

    Hells yeah! :D

  • That T-128 seems creepy in Attack.

  • I think this replaced the ACA Allertors in this city. I did see 2 of those Allertors on the highway when i went through the town.

  • Springfield Twp never had any Allertors. This one right here replaced a P-15 down the street. The only Allertor I knew about in Hamilton County was in Springdale along I-275, and was replaced with a T-128 in January, and the new T-128 was knocked down.

  • OH! Springdale is what i meant. :|

It was like 2 or 3 years ago.

  • Have you seen those photos on The Siren Archive? Those Allertors it shows are both actually the same one.

  • didn't the priest at the church bring it down with a bobcat?

  • Were you thinking of this one in the video or a different one? This one is still here, while a different one in the area was in Springdale at Temple Baptist, and the pastor knocked that one down. The Allertor it replaced was way far back from the church than the T-128 was.

  • Yeah i was talking about the T-128 at that church. I remember reading about it on ARS

  • Great video of the T-128!!!

  • Thanks man!

  • THAT THING IS SOOOO LOUD!

    thats my old school :)

at recess, it was sooo loud everyone wuold like shout cuss words and scream and stuff. good times :)

  • Yup, it measures 128 decibles at 100 feet.

I remember when I first saw it when it was installed in April 07. Did you like things better when it wasn't there?

  • The Federal Signal 2001killer!

  • This is exactly what we need for our "future" warning system. LOUD!! And excellent video!

  • Oh yeah, this is what you need! When I was filming, it wasn't that loud, becuase I had ear protection. Thanks!

  • Comment removed

  • It was sittin there for 6 months, silent

  • yah

  • DAMN this is wierd i live there!!

  • Did you know this is here? Where in the township do you live?

  • nice vid Andy I love the wind down on these. They replaced an SD-10 on Colerain Middle School about 3 years ago with a T-128

  • Thanks! Really, that SD-10 was on the Middle School? On the siren archive, it's labeled Colerain Elementary. I was told the thunderbolt on Northgate mall was moved to the Colerain Fire Department headquarters, but when I go there, there's a T-128 which was installed a few months ago.

  • boy that Undulating Signal is creepy sounding

  • Nive one there, Andy. 8)

  • sure is

  • That's a good-sounding T-128; the ones in our town sound terrible.

  • Where do you live?

  • I'm in Brattleboro Vermont; We used to just have a Federal Signal 2T22 and it not only sounded good but could be heard from quite a long ways away, but because of the nuclear power plant they decided to put in a couple of T-128s. I can still hear them from my house but not as well as I could hear the 2T22, and the tone they put out isn't all that great; I thought they would be louder than they are.

  • So you still have the 2T22. What's it used for?

  • Well actually they put one of the T-128's where the 2T22 used to be, but it's not loud enough to hear from the far edge of town so they put another one by the town line, which is the one I can hear more from my house which is a few miles over the town line. Not sure what became of the 2T22

  • I think I know where that 2T22 went to. a tree service has a bunch of their 1000s, a 1003, STH-10s and 2 3T22s. I'm getting the 1003 and an STH from them.

  • but ya gotta remember that most of ASCs Tempest series are in the 500Hz range, & are single toned, the XT22 series were in the higher range + that local surroundings & conditons. Just my 1 cent

  • The lower tone of a 2t22 is in the 500hz range, 575hz to be exact.

  • i wish columbus ohio would put these up instead of the whelens! luckily there are a few thunderbolt 1000T's left but cincinnati has the best selection of sirens.

  • I think Columbus puts Whelens up because they require Voice Announcements before and during testing, where is we (Cincinnati) do not.

  • We sure do have a variety. Have you ever seen some photos of sirens in Hamilton County on the siren archive? I can tell you some late facts. The thunderbolt on Northgate Mall was moved to the Colerain Twp. Fire Department. The SD-10 on Colerain Elementary was replaced with a T-128. The Model 5/7 on the Colerain Fire District in Dunlap was also replaced with a T-128. Those 2 seperate Allertors shown in Springdale are actually the same one, which is the only Allertor in the county.

  • As far as I know, all those others are still there.

  • One more thing, the 2T22 in Forest Park was replaced with a 2001-SRNB.

  • Nice Video. Do the alert and attack have different meanings there? I have never heard T-128's in alert, just attack. It's really crazy, the city of HB started testing them without many people knowing about them... kind of took us back a few decades, and in a panic...

  • In my area, alert signal sounds for tornado warnings and severe thunderstorm warnings conciding a tornado watch, while we only use attack for testing. I guess it's used in the test incase if we will ever get air raid. That's what attack meant in the old days. It's mostly for civil defense.

  • Agreed. That is why the attack mode here, made us think "Civil Defense/Incoming". LOL! That's what are old Thunderbolts were used for back in the 60's-70's... now the attack mode indicates possible Tsunami... it just would have been nice for them to send a notice before they tested the first time. Many people dialed 911... which is the last thing you would want to do...

  • Yeah, but they were first used for that purpose in the 50s, because thunderbolts went in production in 1952, then out of production in 1990.

  • Is this near Walton, KY?

  • It's about 35 miles from Walton.

  • Oh cool, I live in Walton.

  • Thats what I love about this siren, it has a classic air raid siren sound to it. It puts the fear of god in anyone that hears it, unlike its competitors the 2001, and WPS-4004. Those sirens are just annoying!

  • Great video! The siren has a nice, low pitch and the echo during the attack signal is amazingly creepy sounding.

  • Thanks. During attack signal, a woman and her daughter came driving in the parking lot looking at the siren.

  • awesome!!!!!

  • Thanks.

  • Is that part of the Hamilton County system? Nice video...sounds cool in attack.

  • Yes it is part of the Hamilton County system. Thanks for the comment.

  • Awesome video. I wish the ones here in Siloam Springs, AR would sound attack.

  • Thanks.

  • Great video of the T-128! Keep it up. :)

  • Thanks.

  • That must be one of the older T-128s because its lower pitch then some that you have seen on YouTube. The newer ones are higher pitch. Nice job recording BTW.

  • Wait a minute scratch that! I forgot to read the description! My bad. I am surprised how low pitch that T-128 is because the older ones are low pitch like that but the newer ones are higher pitch. That is a new T-128 of course I just never heard the newer ones that low pitch before. There we go.

  • Also I don't know if you can notice, but it has the newer ASC logo on the side, instead of the blue American Signal logo.

  • Oh ok.
