  • I have it and multiple backups. It's too awesome to lose. I create all my drums, bass, keys, etc in this program. All midi. Then I move it to CW Pro Audio to add real guitar, vocals, etc. again CWP 3 is the fastest music creation software made. Music at the speed of thought.

  • I miss using Cakewalk 3, I used it forever (almost). Recently I found my old wrk files from the 90s, stuff I did for my music courses at university, but my copy of Cakewalk 3 was corrupt and I don't know where my midi file and sysex info is, I may have not even saved it seperately. I tried to find it on ebay and such but no luck. Does anyone know where I could find it?

  • does any one still have the manual for this? How the hell do you enter accidentals?? used this 100yrs ago...but mind has become foggy.

  • @MidiOrchestra in score/notation mode....

  • @MidiOrchestra I have the manual- however, it's quite large and I only have the one copy. I probably could photocopy some of it for you though if u really need it. You'd have to tell me which parts you need because it's about 500pgs so copying the whole thing just isn't realistic. But I'd be happy to do some for ya :-)

  • @LadyAudio how very kind of you!! : ) fortunately i've solved the issue... you really need a mouse to enter notes in realtime...you have to click hold and scroll the wheel to change to change to sharp/flats. too akward on a laptop.. Still amazing you got a surving manual! :)

  • ...

I'm affraid I didn't undestand most of the tutorial =/...

  • hey can we sing in this progran an edit in to song how have only a mic just want to mix it in to my track;)

  • @Haakino Nope. Sorry, you cannot sing into this program. It is midi only.

  • May I please recieve a message in inbox too for Cakewalk 3.0? Thanks!

  • Hey Vince. You helped me before with cakewalk and I am afraid I need some more help. My friend, Alpha, has a m-audio midsport uno midi device. I have installed the drivers and cakewalk does not recognize them. When I go onto cakewalk - settings - midi devices.....it does not show up! I have tried everything I can think of, but they just are not showing up! Any ideas what I am doing wrong??? I am tearing my hair out !!!!!

    Thanks for any help!!!!! Cathy

  • I don't want to be a pain, but I got an email from you in response to my question then this a.m. when I went back to read it, it was not there! All email I received after 3:50 yesterday afternoon are gone!!! ????? I've never had this happen before!!!! Strange!!! Anyway, could you please resend the response??? Thanks so very much!! Cathy

  • @Bestbaker Resent to your inbox. :)

  • Hi! I have been helping a good friend who had cakewalk 3 before Hurricane Katrina wiped him out. Do you know somewhere where I can get a copy of Cakewalk 3??? Thanks for any info you can give me...it will really be appreciated!!!

    Cathy

  • @Bestbaker Check your inbox. :)

  • i would love to have cakewalk 3 again it was great. where can i find it?

    i have sonar 7....it bites!!!!

  • @cantfindmysox Check your inbox. :)

  • The old versions of Cakewalk are exceptional MIDI sequencers. I'm using the marginally newer Cakewalk Music Creator, but it's pretty much Cakewalk 3.0 with a facelift.

  • I used to love this software. I did so many songs with it... Then I lost it in a computer reinstall and I've missed it ever since...

  • So, where could I find this?

  • Hooked up to mine I have a Roland XV 5080, JV1010, M-GS64, and a Korg Triton Rack. I have all the .ini files to be able to select from thousands of instruments in an instant. Best of all is the super fast click copy and paste feature. No Other Sequencer Has It? It makes for super fast music creation. To bad the company walked a away from it. It was the reason why Cakewalk was a " cake walk" to use!

  • I use Cakewalk pro 3. There's nothing like it! The company messed up trying to keep up with Cubase. Cakewalk 3 is the only way to go when beginning a track.

  • I might use this in the future. If I can find this system that is.

    Oh the irony!

  • Hi, can you import midi files an use an external sound module with cakewalk?

I wan to use cake walk as a midi sequencer and hook up my roland xv2020 to my pc.

Is that possible? Can it send midi out to my Roland XV2020?

  • @brian2482 Yes, you can import midi files into this program. You can also use it as a sequencer for an external midi sound device like your Roland. It can send midi to your Roland with no problems.

  • Hey Vance!

I thought I'm the last on the planet still using Cakewalk 3..I'm using it since 86 and believe me I've tried all the major seq-editor..everytime I turn back to C3!

It should be nice if a cleaver guy could write a vst suport..if is posibile..but as long as I'm using hardware synths everything ok.Don't mention lots of CALs i did for easy tweaking.

    Finally it's a great soft!

    Vio

  • @viocaia

I used to use my CW Pro 3.0 with midiyoke and that enabled me to use it with vsti's. Yes, lots of CALs for us veterans of the program.

  • @viocaia I do understand you! After trying all the MIDI software around, including ProTools, Cubase, Logic, Performer, MasterTrack Pro, Metro, not mentioning later Cakewalk Inc. stuff, I ALWAYS come the basic idea of a perfect MIDI software, which CPW3 is. Still using only the CPW3 despite all the technology advances. I wish they incarnate CPW3 for modern platforms leaving all the features as the were back in 1994.

  • Where do you get 3.0? I use to have it ages ago. I ended up getting sonar, and found it to be a waste of money as no matter what FAQ's, tutorials, or crud I look at, every time I try and playback, it just jumps right to the end of the track and that's it, no sound nothing, just "play" BOOM to end of track. Even opening a midi I know that works it does the same thing. I set the midi device, audio options. Still don't change shit.

    I want 3.0 back >.>

  • @Leecohda

    Check your pm.

  • Man...I wished if you were going to be nice enough to do this, you would NOT ASSUME that all of us know exactly what and where everything is. You lost me 15 seconds into the lesson...and I am trying desperately to lean how to use cakewalk with backing tracks. You're great...but you go too fast for a beginner.

  • i think is very hard to do this thing.. i mean.. i can`t :))

  • is this program better than fruty loops

  • No, it's not.

  • I used Pro 3.0 back in the day, but have moved on and am now using SONAR 8. Do you find there are things you can't do with 3.0 that you can do with SONAR, or is it just that it works for you and you have no need to change. It has been a long time sense I used 3.0 but I believe there are a lot of new MIDI features in SONAR 8 that pro 3.0 does not have, not to mention the sweetness of soft synths.

  • I believe Pro 3.0 had more midi features than Sonar, but I can't say for sure. I was using Pro 3.0 because I was using all hardware modules at the time and I liked Pro 3.0 because it was a very small program and didn't require much CPU power.

Today my studio is all software based and FL Studio 8 is my sequencer of choice.

  • dose this program host vst and vsti's? or only moduals?

  • This program does not host vsts or vstis.

  • Totally cool!! I'm using cakewalk homestudio 6.0 and the interface is the same. You are right, its an old program but it works just fine for me!! I have a Roland VM3100-Pro with logic-RPC, But it's so hard to use together. I love the way Cakewalk works and it suits me fine for my midi sequences. I use a Casio VZ1,Yamaha TQ5,Korg Symphony K03, Boss Dr5, Gibson ES-335, The VM3100-Pro provides all the studio environment I require for slammin mixes!! and mixer scenes can be recalled via midi!!!

  • Alright then! Glad to hear it! Keep on rocking!

  • i'm really having a hard time with this. do you have to have a midi controller hooked up and where do you find the samples to use. all mine are blank

  • Yes, I have a midi controller connected to my midi interface which is connected to my hardware modules, like my Yamaha Motif and Roland JV1080. Cakewalk Pro is only a midi sequencer. It does not contain any vsts or samples.

  • oh i was so lost. thank you

  • Wow..this is easier than digital performer....

  • i like the beat :)

  • im really struggling to use cake walk pro audio 9, do u suggestions regarding how to get the most out of the programme?

  • Nice tutorial. I checked on ebay, but couldn't find 3.0 for sale. It must be really hard to get now that's it's over 10 years old.

  • Yeah, you won't find this on ebay. If you are interested in obtaining a copy, hit me up on my myspace or send me a PM. Peace!!!
