  • Hey Eric, quick question. What D/R and expo did you start off with on the P47 with the DX7? What did you end up with?

  • I <3 out-takes. Thank you! Hilarious :D

  • Hello, does the tail wheel server some pre installed?

  • Hey man great review. You covered everything and the video is just awesome!

  • would it be possible to make it a 4 blade prop?

  • something tells me you like the parkzone warbirds!

  • Is there a shift in the COG with retracts installed? I have the same plane and it flies great. I have the mustang and corsair, but they don't match up to the thunderbolt. This baby packs a lot of heat when it lands. Flaps really help with the landings.

  • Also, You can take it off slowly, I take mine off nice and slow EVERY TIME with no problems at all.

  • One of the best flying airplanes I have ever owned. Its got enough power on the stock setup to get out from under itself, its extremely acrobatic, very stable, and with its light wing loading It stalls nose first every time. I can get mine to do some very nice looking Torque rolls, Snaps rolls are fun, and lumshevaks with this plane will have everyone at the field looking at the plane. This product gets 10/10 with the retracts and flaps.

  • cool mod, love the dog interaction.....

  • Would you recconmend this for a second airplane?

  • Nothing better than a Midair that not only looks cool, but results in little damage! Great video, great looking plane.

  • Can this planee work with the 3200mAh 3S 11.1V 15C and 30C Li-Po's? How much flight time do you get with the included batt?

  • how much does the plane cost BNF plus the flaps, retracts, and transmitter?

  • Nice video. Very good landing!

  • WOW i never seen flying like that..great job and nice touch of the wing

  • I test out this plane with my son and found it very slow its lacks the power to really go fast. I think the motor is under sized for this plane

  • @supersnowyangel I've never had a problem with the power from my plane, but thats my opinion. Thanks for watching.

  • yea hi i got the ds6i but it on the flaps switch it on goes foward once. does that mean i only have on flap settings? pls awnser

  • @armaholic99 yes, on the dx6i you only have one flap setting which is basically off or on.

  • @joehandsome99 so i only have take off flaps?? does landing without flaps any harder?

  • @armaholic99 Tetnically there is only on flap setting, BUT you can mix the gear switch to mak another position, so you can make 3 position flaps.

  • what did the remote cost for the plane

  • @supersnowyangel You can get the latest prices for a Tx on the Horizon Hobby website.

  • Would you mind trading jobs with me?

  • @vg4030 Thank you very much that is a great vid I also really like the flaps.

  • @gripchion Thanks for watching.

  • Nice review, I love this plane such a good flyer. I have three different planes and I love this one so much that I ripped apart my F15 for it's servos so I can install them for the wing flaps. When my local hobby shop gets more long lead servos in I might rebuild my nitroplane f15 but I'm in no hurry yet, having too much fun with my P47!

  • @Nosey10 Thanks for watching and the comment.

  • Great review, can you show next time how you installed the flaps and wheels, the steps for us getting in RC world, that would be very helpful

  • @SlyDawg951 The retracts went in with a couple screws very easily. Thats a good point about this plane.

  • Great review!! Thanks alot!

Tthis plane is soo awesome to fly!!

    Greets from Switzerland!!

  • @TheIngo1978 Thanks for watching and the comment. Greets!

  • What kind of flight times do you get? Also, I keep hearing people bitch about takeoffs and landings... Is it really that hard? I fly at a very short grass and dirt soccer field, and I plan on installing flaps before my first flight. Is there a different plane I should be looking at? I already have the Wildcat, but want something comparable with landing gear. Please advise!!!

  • @apodacainc I usually fly for about 5 minutes. Watch the vid again at the end and I explain the take offs.

  • @joehandsome99 Well since I wrote that, I bought it and flown it a few times. It flies great, but much heavier than my wee F4F. Since I most often fly at a soccer field with many light posts/goal posts, this is not the ideal plane for that scenario as I find you need to make a long approach to bring it in smoothly. At my soccer fields, I have to drop it quickly and try to smooth out and land or abort and try again. I've had a few less than gracefull landings but the worst just flipped it

  • @apodacainc Have you installed the flap servos? That helps to slow it down on landings.

  • @joehandsome99 yep, I have them installed. One could attribute it to my newbie skills though I guess. I flew my champ twice before I got a micro t28, which I flew about 5 times before getting the larger wildcat. I've kinda fast-tracked my way into intermediate (funny how video game skills pay off a little) piloting, as I am a decent scale flyer... can do loops, rolls, touch n gos etc. This is my biggest fastest plane so it's probably just nerves! :-)

  • do you have to buy the retracts seperatley

  • what do u suggest the carbon z yak or this

  • i have the ultra micro t28 and was thinking of upgrading in march. Is this a good step up?

  • @t28trojan1 Get the larger T28. You will enjoy it.

  • Have you added the flaps & retracts to it and if so are you only using the stock esc or did you add BEC. PKZ says the esc is very capable but it only outputs .7A not enough for 4 servo + 2 flaps and 2 retracts.

  • Great video!!!

  • @anderman72 thanks

  • Great plane, and Very nice review Eric!

  • @RcFlyer96 Thank you

  • Great review, Eric. I just got mine and it's also my first taildragger. T/o and landings have been a challenge, but you addressed a point I've been particularly having troubles with...the takeoffs. THANKS! I can't wait to get out and try your suggestion. I've been trying to eeeease it into the air...not always with great results. Keep em coming!

  • @6Sally5 Getting the tail off the ground on take off is what you are wanting to do with this plane. Once the prop is perpendicular to the ground its a breeze. Thanks for watching.

  • very cool! I am tempted to get one still, but haven't yet taken the plunge! Flaps and Retracts are just too cool though!

  • @earthling1984 The retracts are a very cool addition to this plane.

  • i like the razor back more

  • Could you make your top 5 planes video

  • @justplain007 That would be a hard choice because I like them all! lol... Thanks for watching.

  • Great video!

  • @kingman912 Thank you

  • AWESOME!!!

  • @LUISUPTOMCAT Thanks!

  • Is this in Georgia.. cuz i think i've been there

  • your wife makes a great director "you want to do it again and stand on the side like you are now and not in the middle of the road." great review Eric

  • @wildhover She's the boss. :) Thanks for watching and the comment.

  • Awesome review, If you would take a look at my channel, looking forward for another review!

  • AWSOME video Eric planing on getting this plane later on thanks for the inspiration

  • @KoltsRCFlyer You are very welcome. Thanks for watching and the comment.

  • Oh, and I got me a Super Cub. I notice you have two hanging in your man cave.

    :D

    Take care!

  • @avi8torace Cool! I use my super cub as a trainer for new pilots. Very easy to fly. Thanks for watching!

  • Essentially, since the prop turns to the right as seen from the cockpit, when pitching forward is like pushing the top of the prop down and felt 90 to the right on the prop, so like pushing the prop to the left making the nose go left.

That is normal and it causes to input a significant amount of right rudder.

Slipstream and torque are a factor too but not as significant as the gyroscopic precession.

We need to fly again together so I can show you. Its fun to test the theory.

    Take care

  • 6:42 I remember when you did that to me and you somehow managed to hit the power switch of your plane.

LOL! Tail draggers, the real one (RC too), have a big problem with that left turning tendency on takeoff. It is called gyroscopic precession which is basically when you start making that forward input to get the tail of the ground, the force is felt 90 degrees in the direction of the prop travel.

  • As always, GREAT review and nice flying! Tough decisions..... ParkZone Radian Pro? ParkZone P47D? UMX Extra 300 3D?!? All different types of flying aircraft but they all sure do look NICE!! Thanks again Eric for the review and nice video!! Looking forward the next review!

  • @rcoconut I'm waiting for a couple more planes to come out myself. Thanks for watching and the comment.

  • Great review as always. I just want to know where you were flying.Sunnny skies and no coat. Ya gotta be in Florida or ???

  • @TheAsuslaptop Almost. We are in Georgia.

  • Thumbs up! Thanks for another great review!

  • @devno9904 Thumbs up for another great comment! Thanks for watching.

  • Would you do a vid on just the retracts I would like to use them on some scratchbuilt projects if they are any good. Hard to spend $85 to just get a look at something. The nearest hobby store is 2.5 hrs away.

    Thanks

  • @gripchion These retracts were very easy to install. I will add the retracts installation to my to do list. Thanks for watching.

  • @gripchionI cant post the link but this guy "ChuckTSeeker" has a video on installing the retracts and flaps.

    Enjoy!

  • Always enjoy your videos.

  • @EggSaladRecipe thanks kindly.

  • Excellent video Eric. Keep them coming!

  • @devloran Will do! Thanks for watching.

  • that plane looks good and strong and can servive mid air crashes

  • @alexgibb11 We got lucky that day. A few more inches to the left and his prop would have chewed my tail up.

  • Oh, you found the manual!

  • @DLPlanes imagine that! lol...

  • Hey joe a nice p47 but you cheated on showing installing landing gear. Its something that the novice may not no.

  • @coolwaterhubby It is very easy on the P47. Eflite made it where you just drop it in and use the same screws to attach them that comes with the plane.

  • Oh very nice Eric and if you would like a touch more speed the PZ extra prop sure does the business i've read on the forums ;-) also the HobbyKing retracts are the same as e-fite ones but a lot cheaper ;-) so once our great British weather get a bit better i'll be able to give mine a maiden flight too ;-) thumbs up as always mate.

  • @startazz On reading your comment I tried the PZ extra prop yesterday and it did give a little more power. I will have to look at the HK retracts for future purchases. I'm looking forward to watching your maiden flight. Thanks for watching and the comment Ian.

  • @joehandsome99 Glad it worked mate, oh and i'll send you a PM with a link to the HK retracts ;-)

  • I do like that plane Eric. The retractable landing gear is neat. Great video

  • @stevetinyhallman Thanks Steve.

  • how do you afford all of those models? (this is a serious question)

  • @theeverythinggeek828 with my hard earned income (this is a serious answer).

  • electric retracts, frigen amazing

  • @tasteslikechicken76 and frigen cool! Thanks for watching.

  • cool plane

  • @mindbender737 thanks

  • $80 for retracts thats day light robbery should have gone to HK

  • Why does it trun left when you slowly takeoff?

  • @Rcflyyer1 it was more than likely the wind blowing it that direction.

  • @knifeedge63 nope it was the tourque of the motor

  • @Rcflyyer1 motor tourque

  • It would be great to add the prices of the planes on your reviews. I know I could look, but its cool to know in a pinch when I am freshly drooling over one of these planes! Great channel by the way, I just recently started watching.

  • @vetitoe362 Prices change as the plane gets older. I may speak of it sometimes, but normally dont add that to the video. I do add the web links to where you can purchase the plane in the video notes though. Thanks for watching.

  • hello eric. i have one question for you. what would you choose between parkzone thunderbolt and parkzone stinson.

  • @royalnorjac I didnt choose. I bought both.

  • hey that was not paint swaping it was a roll whislt playing tag. haha . Im looking at getting into planes now what would you recommend i should get first??

  • @nmewe1 super cub lp. It is a good starter plane.

  • at 9:12 you couldnt have been more in the way LOL! nice plane

  • @spartan0738 I thought I was nailing a great landing and then the boss said do it again. lol...

  • Nice flying. God is Good

  • @tntneon thanks

  • Nice flying

  • @tntneon thank you

  • Nice video! You really do a nice job. Really enjoy watching them. Thanks!

  • @drsmith751 thanks for watching and the great comment.

  • cool Should i get this or the Messerchmitt? I have had experience with the wildcat and micro p51 and the 3 channels. Cool video by the way.

  • Lmao! good review and move your A out of the middle of the runway Eric!!haha

  • @bloodhound122 Gotta do what the boss wants when she is behind the camera. lol..

  • Ya great video, I agree with flameffect wheres the VFO?

  • @youtwoba I will try to get the VFO running soon. Maybe a little faster than the Su-34 lol...

  • How do you get all these Park Zone planes? Do you have a deal with them or work for them? I'm lucky if I can afford 2 planes a year. LOL. I have a question about the DX7...How do you like it? And does it have a throttle cut off for fuel planes? I have the JR 6102 72mhz (big brother to the DX7) and would like to get the DX7 because it's the same as my JR just 2.4. The menu is exact, and it'll work with all my JR stuff. Well it's a cheaper JR radio is what it is.

  • @UtRadioGuy I purchase my eflite and parkzone planes. It would be nice to get a discount for all the reviews I do. You will like the dx7. It's very versatile. I think my next purchase will be the dx8.

  • @joehandsome99 - When you going to get the DX8? If soon I'll buy your DX7 if you want to sell it

  • for the charger, why do they make it so you have to use it from a car? Why not supply a wall charger? Is it cheaper the other way or something

  • @magicmike1122 It's nice that they throw a charger in, but then it's like a tease to me also. Ok, we are giving you a charger with your plane, no go sit in your car and charge your battery for an hour.

  • Nice video Joe! Do you really only need the optional flaps for take off and landings?

Nice looking plane, i was wondering what to go for after the T28 UM so i think this might be it.

  • @buellbruce You dont need flaps to take off and land the P-47. It just makes it a little easier.

  • Torqueing to the left is absolutely normal for any taildragger. Its called P-Factor. All pilots use right rudder (using it derogitory, not stated at you, Eric :) The circle of the prop wash circles around the airplane and then hits the right side of the rudder (from front view). I fly full scale, and when im in the cub, taking off I have to use almost half rudder on the pedals to keep it going straight. Great review, and I love those retracts! Hope the info on P-Factor helps.

  • @RedDevilSquadron Thanks for the great comment. I am sure this will be helpful to others.

  • When was this filmed? Here in Marietta it's all snowy still.

  • @xlxshanexlx Augusta

  • Um.... now im not big into this stuff but... What the heck is a Manual? Ok stop adding new planes,,,, and get to that VFO!!!!!!

  • @FlamEffect the manual is just where all the instructions, safety tips and warranty info is

  • @free533 ... hmmmmmm really, they have those things? wow. what a waste of paper. haha

  • @FlamEffect Got to try to do that this week. Thanks for watching.

  • just what I wanted to see. Thank you for all your reviews

  • @TheRCPlanes thanks for watching.

  • This plane is awesome no doubt but like Eric says 85 bucks for retracts is just a bit too stiff. I mean I realize that they are basically drop ins and your are paying for the convenience but when that convenience is almost half the price of the plane (PNP) I will look for other means of adding retracts.

  • @ussgrisham I will say that e-flite made it very easy to install them. The molded plastic frame in the wing was made for the retract and it just dropped right in.

  • Wow what a neat set-up - neat and tidy out of the box. Certainly is a great flying unit and so easy to put together. Brilliant how the wheels detract and allows for some superb in-flight tricks!

  • @Jordmate Thanks for watching Richard. It is appreciated.

  • Excellent comment from your good lady re not getting in the way of the camera, lol.

  • @chiosex She's the boss when it comes to the video camera. I'm just the dope in front of it. ;) Thanks for watching.

  • Great video Eric as always. I love those mid air collisions where everyone flies away!

  • @chiosex I do to! Lee and I were talking yesterday about how we are just going to hit each other straight on one day. Just hope it isnt today! Thanks for watching.

  • Looks like it flew similar to the T28 but with retracts.

  • @photobart1 Similar, but with some differences. Thanks for watching.

  • Great review, Eric! Thanks for the heads up on the takeoff P-factor. I'll keep that in mind when I fly mine this weekend. Two thumbs up!!

    Mike

  • @mhall914 It will have that turn to the left being a tail dragger, I just wasnt ready for it the first time I took off. lol.. Thanks for watching and the comment.

  • 2 foot take-off...lol I KNEW YOU WERE GONING TO DO THIS REVIEW!!!!! and i knew you would put the retracts and flpas on...( 99% ) of everyone who gets thisplane probably will great vid!!!!!!

  • @flyingchimp99 That's Eric ... a middle of the road standing guy ;)

  • @flyingchimp99 The retracts were expensive to me, but they do look great on the plane. Thanks for watching and the comment.

  • Good plane, maybe I will buy somethink like this next week.

Thanks for the best videos in youtube about RC models!

  • @MrFunnyPower Thanks for watching and the great comment.

  • I saw this plane on display at the local hobby shop and wondered how well it would fly. Thanks for the demo!

  • @dmerc00 you are very welcome..

  • Eric, Thanks for the great review of the Parkzone P47D. I liked the way you referenced the real P47D and the men who knew it well. Keep up the good work.

  • @gikar1948 thanks kindly.

  • Yeah, read the manual.

    lol!!

    Thumbs up for the tail-tap!

Didn't your mama teach you not to play in the road?

  • @nishbrown ha ha... Thanks for watching, and I play in the road in all my vids.

  • WOAH THats a bad manma jama

  • @TheNews1990 you got that right. Thanks for watching

  • Absolutely, I just got a couple different planes or this one would be in my basement lol, its surely going on my wishlist though :) Nice work Joe Keep em comin/ Happy Flying!!!

  • @shoado Thanks for watching and the comment.

  • nice;)

  • @jgoudeau207 thanks.

  • Retracts kick ass

  • thanks man ,looking good , understand your point .

  • @bassax7045 thanks for watching.

  • awesome video as always, I am having trouble choosing between this and the trojan t-28d. Please help make the final decision!
