The earliest stringed instruments were mostly plucked. Bowed instruments originated in the equestrian cultures of Central Asia, They were probably the world’s earliest fiddlers. Their two-stringed upright fiddles were strung with horsehair strings, played with horsehair bows, and often feature a carved horse’s head at the end of the neck. The violins, violas, and cellos we play today, and whose bows are still strung with horsehair.
Putting the Hungarians "back on their feet" was never a heart-felt concern to the Archdukes of Vienna who simply annexed them to their holdings, and thus cannot warrant the annointment of The Merchant Habsburgs as the Selfless Charitable Saints you make of them. Best.

Turkish music has elements from Central Asia, Mongolia, China and India...Turks actually ruled in all these regions at one time or another and picked up (and as well as influenced)many cultural traits. Some people have difficulty understanding the Turks because of their complex history and rich cultural background.
geee Hungarian was occupied by Ottoman empire for over 4 hundred years. I'm pretty sure that Hungarian music was influenced by ottoman's music. Hungarian must thank for Austria empire that got them back on their feet from Ottoman rulers.

They are completely different .
Scales , modes , rhythmic structures, melodic developments are totaly different than the arabic music.
Look for the videos of Cinucen Tanrikorur on youtube.
He has some videos containing explanation of Turkish music's theory and analysis .

@9showdonttell1 there is a difference in intonation ... Arabs divide the octave into quarter tones while Turks divide it into kommas (1/9 tone).
