  • Commentator is blind...I seen nothing but a clean, lined up hit, how would you consider that leaving your feet, when impact is made, forcing you to bounce and gain height on a solid jolt...commentator needs to get real with the game...!

  • I don't think he left his feet. tough to say when the entire ice is white. looks to me like he only left the ice once he makes contact.

  • I guess you people that think this is a dirty hit, think Brian Campbell's hit on Umberger in the 06 playoffs was a dirty hit. When you hit a player with that much force, the momentum carries you off your feet. Basic physics fools!!!!!!!!!!!

  • weaver is a small guy. so what he did was appropriate, oother wise its would sharp could have ran him over....

  • blues suck ass anyways

  • This isn't even considered a fight. Barker is wrong-agreed. Weaver was turttled up because it was a huge hit tht not only hurt sharp but hurt weaver too. Clean hit all the way

  • honestly i dont like either teams..but i'd have to say this was a clean check...yes his feet left the ice but not until after the contact...another good check that leads to a fight.

  • Olczyk/Foley: "Look ooooouaaarrrrgggghhh" HAHAHA!!! Clean hit, and thats coming from a Hawks fan. Sharp should have head his head up and he payed for it. Good response by Barker though. Doesn't matter if it was dirty or boarderline, it was HARD.

  • Mike Weaver is a sloppy bitch and an asshole player, both skates totally left the ice thats why he was off balace. The hit was completely dirty, trust me I hit alot, You give me one shot and Ill end weavers career with a hard ass clean hit.

  • Clean hit you stupid fuck.

  • @kingforaday22 clean hit dumass

  • did I say it wasnt

  • @Thero885 hahahaha you're a joke

  • He didn't even hit Sharp with his elbow... not a big deal here. Weaver must have known that someone was coming for him as soon as he hit Sharp. Most teams do the same if their best players get smashed like that.

  • I'm not a fan of either team (Red Wings fan) and that's a clean hit. Get your head up, Sharp. I'd do that in my non-contact beer league.

  • The hit was completely clean. Rangers4387 is right, today's players need to man up and learn how to absorb a little punishment, and take the guy's number for later.

  • Wow barker is a cheap bitch

  • Quit your whining about the hit or go watch the Ice Capades,

  • another bunch of homers. Jackmans hit was clean, forearm to the chest, the follow through didnt even hit him in the face. Weaver didn't leave the ice didn't use his elbow or anything. What Barker did is what is wrong with this league. Guys can't make clean hard checks without having to fight, thats retarded, its a game that involves hitting, if you cant take it fucking leave, god damn pussies

  • @rangers4387

What Barker did was wrong ? if it had been McDonald getting run by anybody you would have saluted the guy who came to his defense.Weaver laid out Sharp and then turtled like a sissy.

  • Comment removed

  • I dont care about Mcdonald. CLEAN hits should not have to be answered by fighting someone. that is what is wrong with the NHL today. Watever happened to getting a guys number and returning the favor. Or even challenging the guy to a fight, not jumping him and leaving him no choice. Thats what Barker did wrong, just grabbed weaver, just grabbed him hence he got the instigator and fighting major. CLEAN hard hit, thats what hockey is about

  • Someone is arguing that was a dirty hit? If so, you're the biggest idiot I've ever seen comment on here...and that's saying alot.

  • Comment removed

  • clean hit.

  • His feet never left the ice until after contact was made. God damn homers.

  • What is hysterical about the Hawks. Weaver lays a clean hit on Sharp, and they along with the announcers cry. Weaver didn't jump, didn't leave his feet (until the impact knock him over). BUT... when Backes puts a beating on Toews (I was at the game, Backes totally baited him), the Hawks never did a thing. As far as I remember, in the good days, someone would have looked for a piece of Backes. But, since he is big, it was easier to go after Weaver. Pussy Hawk Fans.

  • These announcers are ridiculous. Weaver's left skate came up because he's a smaller defenseman and not as strong on his feet as say Jackman or Brewer or Johnson. It was a clean hit, and the Hawks cried about it. If the blues can play this style of hockey like they did in the first period, the whole game. Then we will make it to the play offs. I like this new coach's philosophy.

  • Just another one of St Louis' 4 pt 100+ PIM guys doing what they do best!..... and they wonder why they cannot win in St Louis

  • Oh... and the Hawks have a great track record of success! LOL

  • Luv me some Blackhawk thumpins. Added bonus of getting to hear the whiney azz Blackhawk announcers cry about the hit.

  • Weaver left his feet and went right at sharps head, simply just a dirty hit. How can you say that isn't just a cheap shot. But not as cheap as what Jackman did earlier in the game.

  • Blackhawks u better be ready when king get back

  • When Mike Weaver makes the Blackhawks look like a bunch of pansies, that's pretty sad.

  • congrats.. u guys can hit people.. lets see u win some games before u start talking shit... ur team blows along with all u dumbass fans.. ur a disgrace to the nhl.. have fun sitting at home during the playoffs u pussies..

  • Hey dumbass.... what have the Hawks done? Funny how short the memories of Chicago sports fans are. You have a baseball team that hasn't won in over ONE HUNDRED YEARS, the Hawks haven't won in over 40 years, the Bears haven't won in 25 years. LOL. Two years ago, the Hawks were drawing 10,000/game. Freakin fair weather fans!

  • Freight train coming at ya! Boo ya!! Best part of the game!

  • Great hit!! Blackhawks announcers, grab a tissue! Wah!

  • He's so lucky it was only Weaver. If that was Backes, good night.

  • Anyone who thinks this hit was dirty is as clueless as the announcer. If you cut across the neutral zone with your head down, you deserve that fate. Sharp should just be glad it was only Weaver.

  • Thats a stupid reason .. thats like saying 'its okay to slash someone because there cutting across with there head down'. Dirty hit, regardless of circumstances. You dont know hockey and rules if you think this is clean

  • At 1:04, you clearly see a shoulder on shoulder hit. I never said it was okay to do something dirty just because you had your head down. How can you compare a slash to a clean hit anyways. With the NHL cracking down big time on head hits, why has there been no fine or suspension? Oh thats right, because it was a clean hit. Explain to me why you think this was dirty? Shoulder on shoulder, both skates on the ice when he made the hit, glided into the hit. Come on, he got rocked, face it.

  • I love how the blackhawks announcer tried to warn Sharp that the hit was coming. He screamed LOOK OUT!!!!

  • huge open ice hit, clean as could be.

  • ENJOY IT! Weaver brings the PAYNE

  • so basically, what they're saying is that Mike Weaver had the intention of hitting Patrick Sharp. Outrageous, he should get a lifetime ban from the NHL for putting a hit on another player. That's not what hockey is about.

I always gave the Hawks announcers a little more credit, but if they continue down this road, they will be right there with the Wings and Jackets guys.

  • Clean hit all the way. That's why no penalty was called on Weaver. His left skate only came off the ice because of the impact. He never left his feet to make the hit. The Hawks announcers are tools.

  • Clean hit.

  • When you leave your feet that obviously to throw a hit, you should get a 2 minute for being a pussy. Stay on your feet and throw a shoulder, if your not a good enough hitter to use it effectively, accept it. Tired of seeing guys like Kronwall and Ovechkin leaving there feet like this

  • You're the pussy. Look at it carefully. He transfered his weight from front foot to back foot to keep balance. He didnt leave his feet

    Clean hit, retard.

  • What a bunch of pussies the Blackhawks an their fans are. Put on skirts pussies. Clean hit

  • A game misconduct for that? That's some terrible officiating.

  • @belegarthbrooder he left his feet you dumbass. that was a dirty hit.

  • @D1ZANy

I agree, the hit on Sharp is charging. I was talking about Barker getting the misconduct for what amounts to is a double roughing.

  • clean hit my ass...jus becuz u suck does not mean uu give cheap hits the entire game...pathetic team

  • First off, i'd like to complement you on your great spelling. I guarentee you're a Hawks fan and Weaver's ownage of Sharp was clean, get over it

  • first off, id like to complement u on being a douche bag..nd i can tell ur a blues fan. nd i wasnt talking about just the hit on sharp

  • And that's why the NHL is turning into a bunch of wussified pansies, no one can lay a big hit anymore without someone getting their panties in a bind

  • i agree with blueshockey2005, the nhl is turning into a bunch of crybabies. they see their teammates getting deservedly steamrolled and they start a fight for no reason. this whole new notion of standing up for your teammates is fucked up. i can understand if it was dirty, but toews had his head down cutting through no man's land. that's asking for your death warrant. it's good weaver didn't receive any discipline. and the announcer is a homer. that hit was clean and solid. scott stevens variety

  • this whole new notion of standing up for your teammates? When is it new to stand up for your teammates in the NHL? Barker did the right thing. It was a clean hit, but that doesn't mean the Hawks just allow it to happen.

  • Nobody but a homer would call this a penalty. Whatever happened to taking a hit, then returning the favor? Fighting because of a clean hit, really?

  • I guess the Hawks announcers don't realize that Weaver is only 5'7ish

  • clear penalty

  • Hit looked clean. Why the 27 minutes for Barker?

  • 5min for fight

    2min for instigating

    10 minute unsportsmanlike conduct

10minute misconduct (dunno why he got an extra 10)

  • Honestly, I just don't understand what people expect to see in slow motion. The guy did not leave his feet until impact. It's not a jump when you have one foot on the ice. The homer announcers missed the boat as usual, but NHL's game recap got it right, "perfect mid-ice hit".

By the way, I'm glad to see only the instigator being penalized. Fighting after clean hits really needs to stop, and this is the only way to stop it.

  • obvious Charge, but fucking awesome hit. Can't skate with your head down

  • Another Blackhawk with his Head Down! I guess the hit on Havlet hasn't taught Chicago Anything! Although Hawk fans will say it's another Cheap hit! Good Clean Hit!

  • LOOK OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Because if you pause the video right when his arm hits Sharp, you will see his left skate and the toe of the right skate are still on the ice. Even the Chicago homer announcers realize this in the replay.

  • why was there not a penalty

  • Because the hit was clean, can't skate through the neutral zone with your head down
