Amazing likeness and technique to the original Oxygene. Very cool! Definitely goes beyond most of the canned digital synths of pre-determined wave forms.
@rojman123 no, the bassline was from a Korg MS-10. The Minipops signal was running through the MS-10 filter and overdrived it, at the same time I played the oscillator signal on he keyboard. It was just for fun...
You pointed out that it's important to use the original SMALL STONE phaser from the 70's. But what is the difference between the old and the new version of it? As far as I know they are both analog phasers. Probably the newer version is not so noisy. But what else is different?
@mikahti Schon was von achtspurigen Tonbandgeräten gehört? Das gab es auch in den 70-ern. :) Analog audio spielt alles echt, ist kein Fake. Beobachte als "Kenner" einfach seine Hände. Grüße :)
For me, it's also these chords, from 1:00 to 2:00 simply genius (and very well played here). I would call it melancholy. I used to listen to this in the Metro in Paris, France when I was young, on my small sony cassette player with big earphones.
Degouwe: Since this isn't a vintage synth, but an organ, people might get confused by your post. Perhaps you meant that vintage organs also trigger deep emotions, or that this video not being of vintage synths doesn't trigger deep emotions.
OMG!!! someone doing Jean Michel covers!! WOW, I NEVER would have thought to look for that on here! been YEARS since I listened to my old Jarre!! =) Good work man! VERY very cool =) Check out my own vids, if you wanna see/hear some baaaaad music! Just bring your ear plugs.. you'll need 'em! : )~
Yes, the Solina / ARP string ensemble sounds different. The Solina has a more "static" sound, it lacks vibrato and the "sustain" sound. Also it has a different timbre. But despite of this the Solina is one of the best string machines.
The phaser is extremely important for Jarres first two albums. These really warm phasing string sounds (And on other sounds too) of the 70;s.... are great!
When I was living till 8 years ago at my parents home, I sold this organ for 150 euro's............. dumbhead as I was :( It is a magnificent instrument... I have now a digital churchorgan, but the sound of analog organs, is much warmer........ and nicer....
Wow. I always used to assume everything came out of the ARP 2600, I didn't realise the Eminent was so fundamental. I found myself vocalising the "doodly-doodly" bits.
brilliant. I had the chance of getting a 310, but my studio is upstairs and I was worried the floor would of collapsed. I wish I'd of got one now. That must be instant satisfaction to play that and have it sound so damn close to the original !
Try a portable ELKA organ. The models X-606, X-707, X-25, and X-30 all had good spacious strings that comes close to the EMINENT if you do a little filtering or equalizing and add echo and phasing.
thankfully I managed to get some Eminent 310 string samples and program for my Akai S6000 sampler. I've also got a smallstone phaser, so get an identical sound. But its certainly not as good as having the original bit of kit.
Bravo! Very cool sounds, and your playing is very good. Now I must track down one of those Eminents .. I love that sound. You are using the SmallStone phaser and an echo ? Tape Echo? Very cool
Excellent, best rendition I've see so far. I'm getting myself a small stone very soon! The 'Equinoxe Deluxe' ensemble in Reaktor 5 and GForce String Machine will have to do me for the Eminent strings through

@rojman123 no, the bassline was from a Korg MS-10. The Minipops signal was running through the MS-10 filter and overdrived it, at the same time I played the oscillator signal on he keyboard. It was just for fun...

@AnalogAudio1 Thanks man! I've discoverd Jarre uses a lot of presets and I was hoping the bassline wasnt something that was buit in to the minipops.

@sauermusicDE It's not noisy at all. It simply sounds different - at least to my ears. It also have different electronic components.
I can distinguish them in a blind test. But both sound great, I have both.

@AnalogAudio1 But the original JMJ Phaser was a small stone with two extra pots, modified by Michel Geiss.
