Loved this version with Summerall's injury deadpan..."Ohhhhh no. There's a man down." LOL...and yes, all the players were black. The create-a-player being based on a combine was original. More games should do that instead of just enabling the player to start off 99.

Oh wow remember the codes like ABACCCC - you'd sit there for hours bashing away on the joypad and then a team would pop up, only to move the control pad and then have to spend another hour finding them again.

Why does everyone have the same skin colour in this game? Also, it is way too fast. Not the best Madden for the Genesis. I prefered Madden 94 or Madden 95.

@freakyfatdog I agree. Those were the best in the series, I think, or close to it. Some claim that 94 is the best, but I think they're delusional. 94 had a shitty running game (players either gain too little or too much) and an art style that was too cartoonish. The earlier titles did it better. Starting with 95 is when the game became so fast paced, it was nearly broken. I like the window-less passing system adopted in 95, but the rest of the game just didn't seem as methodical and fun.

Favorite football game as a kid.I would create 6'6 360lb running backs who ran a 4.23..For the time, this was the most fluid football game out there.I remember how i'd always build my team young.Steve Mcnair was my qb and he would throw some of the most beautiful bombs to Joey Galloway and my other create a player wideout(who had to run a 4.20 40).I would just let the games play themselves.My teams would dominate, but if a simulated, my teams wouldnt make the playoffs

I prefered madden, ea's nhl and nba games on the snes even though sega had slightly better graphics earlky on. Towards the end of the SNES's life spaN THOUGH it had better graphics and gameplay than the sega genesis had. Madden 98 on snes was a master piece!!!
